Mythical Flash Fiction

Happy New Year! Hope all had a great night celebrating the end of another year.

Want to start off today’s post by saying thanks to my followers. The last month has been rough between illness and weather and I have not been able to post. Hope to start the year off on the right foot with getting back to blogging, editing and letting my creativity soar. What better way than some great flash fiction.

Lushes green grass rested in front him. No footprints. No streaks showing Jacob went through the Unicorn Field. Thank the Gods. People where said to lose toes, even feet, for just stepping one inch into the field. Every unicorn should have been destroyed, but Zeus loved those wild creatures and created the field just so they had a safe place to live.
He scanned the area, hoping to spot . . . “Ah., there you are.”
Zack always told Jacob his fancy, gold shining watch would get him into trouble. It always caught the sunlight, flickering a yellowish streak.
Zack lowered himself as low as any Centaur could. Not much because he had to be able to move on Jacob. He wasn’t sure why Jacob had thought hiding under a thicket of bushes would work. Might have if any other Centaur had been sent, but Zack was the second among his kind, which meant he kicked every other Centaur’s butt. Wasn’t easy, and afterwards he promised himself he would nevre lose his spot because he failed an assignment. That meant . . . Jacob would not get by with avoiding the path ridiculous path he chose, even if Zack understood how Jacob felt. Being promised to the top dog Centaur sucked. The half man, half horse was a bastard. Already had two other men, but Zack had a job to do. That’s what mattered to him.
“You might as well come out Jacob.”
Rustling reached his ears, forcing him to jump the bushes, landing in front of Jacob. Jacob jerked backwards, but made no move for freedom.
“Don’t make me hurt you.”
“I want be a - -“
“not my business. Come with me and face your fate. Running only makes things worse.” Understatement. His leader wasn’t no for tolerance. Stupidity, or what he viewed as such, pissed him off more than being hit. Most who upset him disappeared.
“Fine.” Jacob shook his head. “Might as well get this over with.”
