Did you know . . .

There is a myth about Lamia that interested me. In this one she is the daughter of Belus and Libya. Libya won Zeus’ heart and Hera became jealous of the unicorn and retaliated by killing all her children fathered by Zeus. In anger and frustration Lamia went into a cave and unleashed her anger by killing offspring of human mothers by sucking the children’s blood. Her actions turned her beauty into ugliness, but when she seduced men she briefly regained her beauty.

Did you know . . .

Doing a little factual fact about one of my favorite Magical Stories and movie. Harry Potter. I’m sure any Harry Potter fan remembers Fluffy, the three headed dog that falls asleep when he hears music. But, did you know that in the book Hagrid bought fluffy from Greek chappie. In the movie, he buys him from an Irish Fellow. Neat little difference that I did not catch onto until I ran across the following website.

Mythical Creature Fun Fact

In Orcadian Folklore there is a creature that resembles a centaur whose legs are semi fins and had an enormous gaping mouth and a single giant eye that burns with a red flame. That still isn’t the most nasty detail, that honor goes to the fact that he is skinless, giving you a sight of the black blood that courses through his yellow veins, and pale sinews with powerful muscles visible as a pulsating mass. The Nuckelavee does have a weakness. If you run across him then all you have to do is cross a stream. He despises running water.

Upcoming Pagan Holiday

Mabon, or as most of us might know it, Autumnal Equinox is also known as Harvest Home, Feast of the Ingathering. So, what is it? It is a Pagan ritual of thanksgiving for the fruit and earth. A recognition of the need to share and secure the blessing of Goddess and Gods.
