Photo opening line

 Hi,

Have to say, I love today's phot. I'm very parital to these mytical creatures. So, any photo or statue of them, I seem to collect. Hope you like them and would love to see what you come up with as a opening line for it.

Thanks for the usage of the photo: Image by <a href="https://pixabay.com/users/kellepics-4893063/?utm_source=link-attribution&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=image&amp;utm_content=3002651">Stefan Keller</a> from <a href="https://pixabay.com//?utm_source=link-attribution&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=image&amp;utm_content=3002651">Pixabay</a>

Opening line: I'd done, finally. Caught one. After years of trying to prove Unicorns existed I've gotten the physical proof the beautiful, wonderful, amazing creatures live and breath among us.

What would your opening line be?

Jeff could have rung Jual’s neck. The man was . . . freaking . . . there was no words to describe how he felt about Jual when he took it upon himself to do his job as well as his own. The man was deadest that he could not take on more than a weak supernatural being. Jeff knew the man did so out of love for him, but the man had to let him do his job. It was what kept him anger in control. It was what allowed him to work as a agent of the Supernatural-Human Leadership. Key word there being human.
He glanced down at his knuckles and sighed. Looked like there be another round, or ten, on the punching bag tonight. It was the only other method he had to expel his bubbled up anger. Better than taking it out on Jeff, or anyone else who spoke to him. He would not become like his father. He’d seen that man take on fifteen men at one time. He killed six of them and knocked the other nine out with minimal harm to himself. Then the man had came home and went a round on him and his mother. That was why he had mastered his own anger. He had as much of, if not more, than most humans. Never once had he taken it out on anyone. Each day of his teenage years was spent in Master Kin’s dojo. The man taught him how to master his anger. It hadn’t been easy, and once or twice Master Kin wanted to give up on him, but in the end he stuck with him and together they learned how to control his anger and dispel it wit his fist, but in a non-threatening manner. He could pound and pound on a bag and expel all the fire inside him without harming a soul, besides his knuckles and muscles.
“I think I have found it.”
Jeff spun his computer screen around and pointed at some kind of bright multi-colored . . .
“Is that a falcon?”
“Some of the human text refers to Rarog as one.”
“Why do I feel a but in there?”
“There is one.” Jeff clicked another tab at the bottom of his screen, pulling up the Mythical Creature database that listed the true sides of the supernatural beings known to the world. “This says that the Rarog has extreme magical skills if he is lucky enough to have found his Sugilite Stone. Apparently, there is one stone for each Rarog born to the world. This stone is then hidden among the caves so that the Rarog has to search for his. There is no power given to them until they find their precious stone.”
“This power can be transferred if others found it?”
“Doesn’t say, but I’m sure if I wanted to I could use the Attachment Spell to bring the stone’s loyalty to me. Not an easy spell, but if you have the right level of . . .”
Right. A powerful Warlock, or Witch, would be able to take on the power. “So, this power does what for the new owner?”

Fingers slipped behind his head, squeezing as they pulled him closer to the man he’d always dreamed of kissing. His biggest dream was about to come true. His heart raced. His hands sweated. His stomach churned, but not in a dread filled manner. Nope. Pure energy rushed through his entire body as Kyle tugged him in for a kiss.
“You want this, Larry?”
“Yes.”
Warmth pressed against his lips as a wet tongue prodded until his lips parted. Soon as his tongue made contact with Kyle’s a soft whimper escaped him and was swallowed up by Kyle. The man of his dreams. The man who wasn’t a man. The man who was tied to a set of crutches as he hid his true side. A Faun.
Hands slid down his side and slipped around to his back, tugging him flush against Kyle’s body.
“You sure about this?”
“More than.”
“You know what I am.”
“So.”
“I’m not human.”
“You are to me. That’s what matters.”
“If you are sure.”
Instead of speaking the truth again, Larry pressed his lips against Kyle, shushing him.

Calvin scratched his head. His ears still rung from the loud whistle that had drawn him to the middle of the Richardson Hill. It wasn’t an area people in the community came to. That’s what shocked him most when he heard the whistle. Curiosity surely could kill. In his case, it just might literally take him from this world.

Right at the base of the heel stood a large three headed dog. Drool dripped from the middle head’s mouth as the other two heads’ eyes glowed red and snarled at the . . . was that really . . . there was no way. He was . . . yeah. That was it. He was hallucinating. Someone had slipped something into his . . . couldn’t be the case. He’d made his lunch. A plain bologna and cheese sandwich with lettuce and onions. He’d not put anything else on it. The bread and everything else had came from unopened packs. No one had slipped anything into those items. Nope.

“Who are you?”

The little pixie like man moved so he stood sideways, taking in him as well as the three headed dog. Calvin didn’t blame him for keeping that beast in eye sight. He wasn’t about to put his back to either of those creatures. Men did not have pointed ears and tiny little pointed cute as hell noses. Nor did they go around wearing bright pink intriguing patterns painted across his forehead and around his cheeks.

“What are you?”

Calvin hadn’t meant to ask either questions, but his mind was trying to work the situation out, but without information he could not do so. He had to have the entire picture to understand what was going down on Richardson’s Hill. Then maybe he could rid his mind of this assine situation.

She’d done it. Made it through the tunnel buried under her house. Came to a built-in cavern filled with lanterns and tables lined with canning jars. She ran the flash light across the table, pausing on each jar. What was . . . She moved close to the table nearest her and picked up one of the jars.

“What is that?”

Thankfully, no one answered. If they had, she would have ran screaming from the room. How could she not. There was a tiny . . . baby like creature in some kind of liquid. She sat the jar down, and picked up the one beside it. She tilted it to the side, taking in the little . . . was that a horse? No. Yes. Partly.

“Lord have mercy.” She caught the jar in her other hand as it slipped free. Carefully, she slid the jar back onto the table and took a step back, taking in the entire room. Each jar held some kind of part animal . . . part human. Not any ole animal though. A horse’s end. Instead of arms and legs there were four legs attached to the rear-end of a horse that had a human chest and head connected to it. “That’s a . . .”

“Centaur.”

She spun, screaming and running past whoever had came into the room without her knowing. She did not stop running until she was back in her basement. She quickly slammed the door shut and threw the bolt in place.

Mythical Creature Tuesday

Today I’m going to give you some info on one of my favorite types of mythical creatures. The Griffin.

The Griffin has a body, tail, and back legs of a lion. His head and wings are the shape of eagle, sometimes an eagle’s talons is it’s front feet. Since the lion was traditionally considered the king of beast and the eagle the king of birds, the Griffin was thought to be an especially powerful creature. They were also known for guarding treasures. In Greek and Roman text the Griffin were associated with gold.

Jarrad popped his neck, cursing as his skin curled inward as fur rippled across every inch of his body. Bones popped and cracked louder than an airplane rushing overhead. He’d been told that the first shift was horrific, but he’d not believed them. Good thing to. They’d been wrong. It was beyond definable. Pain didn’t fit the heat rushing over his body as fur sprout and his bones realigned. It was as if someone was ripping his heart from his chest as they skinned him alive.

“You’ve almost done it, baby.”

Almost? There was more to come? What? His mind being yanked free of his skull? Did he call me baby? He had. Damn him. He’d baby, Ivan. The man promised him he’d ease the pain for him. Sure wasn’t doing as he promised.

“I am, baby. I promise.”

“Quit . . .” A soft grunt turned into a faint howl. “Lying.”

“Believe it or not, it would be worse if I was not here to soothe your new wolf.”

New wolf? Sounded strange, but wonderful at the same time. Or would after his wolf came forward completely. Ivan told him that the first shift was murder, but the ones after that went like a snezzed fading on a breeze. He knew Ivan spoke the truth. He’d seen his love shift several times. It was as easy as blinking. Why wasn’t the first shift that way?

“There you go, baby.” Soft hands ran down his snout.

Shit. He had a snout. He took a deep breath and let the air flow smoothly through his entire body. He’d done it. He’d shifted. He was like Ivan. They would never be apart. They would become one by the end of the night. The Pack Master promised them if he accepted the wolf spirit that Ivan offered him then they’d be listed as a mated pair in the Pack History Book. Meaning there would never be another male, or female, werewolf that could try to take Ivan from him.

“You are right, my lover.”

He licked Ivan’s neck and inhaled deeply, loving how his man smelled like Old Spice.

Mythical Creature Fun Fact

In Orcadian Folklore there is a creature that resembles a centaur whose legs are semi fins and had an enormous gaping mouth and a single giant eye that burns with a red flame. That still isn’t the most nasty detail, that honor goes to the fact that he is skinless, giving you a sight of the black blood that courses through his yellow veins, and pale sinews with powerful muscles visible as a pulsating mass. The Nuckelavee does have a weakness. If you run across him then all you have to do is cross a stream. He despises running water.

Rachael let the ripples claim her body as her legs faded into one and her feet shifted into a two pointed fin covered with fish scales. It’s been years since she’d taken her second form. She’d forgotten how much the transformation hurt.

“What are you going to do?” Diane ran her hand through Rachael’s long, silky brown hair. “I always loved you in this form.”

Rachael had to admit she’d missed her second form, but law was law and even though she no longer interacted with the Mermaid Society she tried to abide by the laws she grew up with.

“This is risky.” Rachael slid from the boat deck, letting the icy water soak into her scales. “Father forbid me from coming back to the Cove, but . . .”

“Then don’t go.” Diane sighed. “Not for me. I love you to much for you to risk your life. Your father isn’t known for his diplomacy, or kindness.”

“He will understand once I tell him why I need to speak to him.”

“And if he don’t?”

She did not want to think about that. Her father would have the right to imprision her. Not something she thought he would stoop to once he found out he had a grandchild on the way. Diane and her had never considered her getting pregnant. They’d known it was a chance to happen, which is why they took care not to come together during the Transition cycle. The two week period every three months that she was became both male and female. Diane and her wasn’t sure how they’d lost track of her Transition Cycle, but they had. Diane and her weren’t upset about an upcoming child, but they had no idea how it would affect Diane. Far as Rachael knew no human had ever carried a child to full term. Whatever full term was for a half Mermaid, half human child.

“There is no other choice.” Rachael gave Diane a smile and dove into the water, swimming deep into the bowls of the ocean, heading for her father’s Cove. Once her home. Once her safety net. Part of her hoped her father opened his arms and embraced her, but she knew that was a pipe dream. Her father was the most stubborn man among the Mermaid Society.

Mythical Creature based Photo Opening Line

This week the post will be about opening lines. I will provide a photo from pinetrest and then give you my opening line. I hope you will share yours.

Opening Line:

It’d been a long time since father took on his thunderbird skin, wouldn’t have happened if some Shifter Clan hadn’t decided to force him to sell the Thunderbird homelands.
