Some of the first accounts of werewolves came from Ancient Greek Literature.
Ovid, in the Metamorphoses, told of the Arcadian King, Lycaeon, who was visited by Zeus. This man decided to
test Zeus by serving him human flesh in one of the many dishes he served in his
honor. Not any old flesh, but his own son’s flesh. When Zeus discovered the deception,
he turned him into a werewolf.
