Chapter 31

“You are mine. There is nothing wrong.” Fabin gripped Rex’s chin, forcing him to look up. “Always and forever. No matter what. We clear on that?”

“Course we are.” Rex wasn’t sure what had brought on that sudden bought of verbal ownership, but he’d give his mate what he needed. “What happened?”

“Nothing, sweetie.” Fabin glanced over Rex’s shoulder and gave a small bow. “I’m fine, Alpha.”

“I’ll take you at your word.” Alpha Widows might, but Rex wasn’t going to. Once they were alone, he’d pry whatever had pulled that howl/snarl from him out. No one needed to hold such in.

“Alpha Widows, Coven Leader Perry, we need to have a word.” Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas didn’t not wait for them to agree, he simply went back into the office.

“That man is the rudest.”

Fabin snorted. Alpha Widows grunted. Dad sighed, shaking his head. “Might be, but he is higher up than me. You two go enjoy the rest of the day.”

“Let’s go watch a movie.” Rex took Fabin by the hand and led him back to his bedroom. “What you want to watch?”

“Doesn’t matter. I’ll end up watching you.”

Rex chuckled and just stuck in one of the movies he had laying beside the player. Not caring what it was either. He let the move begin and crawled up on the bed beside his mate. He curled up against his side, letting him wrap him into a nice little warm cocoon.

For some time they watched the movie then the movie became boring. He let his hands run up Fabin’s leg to his thigh, stopping just over his jean clad cock. He was just about to grip him when Fabin, took hold of his hand, bringing it up to his lips, kissing it. He kept hold of his hand, resting their combined hands on his chest. Tight and tense chest muscles. Something was wrong. No other time had Fabin stopped him from touching him. He’d loved for him to do so. NO other time had he been tense around him. Why was he now?

Rex used his free hand to push himself upright. “What is wrong?”

“Nothing, sweetie.”

“You are not a good - -“

The house shook as a wolf howl had Fabin leaping from the bed and racing out the door. Rex followed behind just as Fabin busted into the office. Rex got to the doorway in time to see Fabin tugging Alpha Widows away from Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas.

“Calm down, Alpha.”

“I’m fine.” Dad said as he laid a hand on Alpha Widows’ chest. “Look at me and see for yourself. Just got a bit pissed off. That’s all.”

“Everyone of you best calm the fuck down. That’s an order.” Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas snapped.

“Dad,” Rex’s voice came out more of a whisper than he liked so he forced himself to say it again. “Dad, what is going on?”

“Nothing you need to know of right now, Young Mixed Breed.”

“Dad,” Rex locked eyes with his dad and waited for an answer.

His dad glanced back at Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas then sighed. “I’m afraid he is right, right now, Rex. It will all become clear as you learn the ways of life.”

“Fuck that shit. Tell me now.”

“You Mix Breed, you must calm down and accept that you have to - -“

“I don’t have to accept anything.” Rex never once looked at Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas, but kept his entire focus on the three men he knew would answer him truthfully. “Tell me what is going on.”

All three of them looked at Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas and then hung their heads. Answer enough.

“You have ordered them to keep shit from me, have you not?”

“Calm yourself, Young Mix Breed.”

“I have a fucking name. Answer me.”

“It is not time for you to know all. Give it time.”

“Fuck this shit.” Rex threw his hands into the air. “Dad, Fabin, I’m going to my room to decide what I will do next.”

Rex marched out of the room, stopping just a few feet from the door, which he left open. On purpose.

“Told you.” Fabin snapped. “What did he mean by that last comment Coven Leader Perry?”

“I’m not sure, but I know my son wants me and you to join him.”

“You do not think he will leave do you?”

Fabin knew him better than he realized, because that was exactly what Rex had in mind.

“He might.”

“He will not.” Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas snapped. “I will not allow it.”

“You are the one causing it.” Fabin and my dad said together.

“Get your head out of your ass and give him the answers he needs when he request them. He is not like other Mixed Breeds. I told you this.” Dad’s voice rang with a certainty that only a father could hold. He might not have known Rex long, but he knew his son. “He is a strong, alpha born, warlock leader born Mixed Breed who was raised as a human. He knows nothing of our ways and will not be able to learn the way you want him to.”

“I told you this as well.” Fabin snapped. “I told you how much trouble his wolf was having with grasping why he had gone from being the unspoken leader of the Chamberland Pack to being in no pack. It is not easy on him. Add in his human side trying to do as requested by the Head of the Supernatural World and you. Now you want to go and change all the rules. It will not go over with him. You are going to run him away.”

Fabin and his dad knew him way better than he thought. Silence grew and grew, so he made his way back to his room. Just as he entered it the crazy mental voice reminded him he forgot to ask his dad about it.

Do you truly need to know what is taking play, my sexy man?

Yes.

Quick response. You have learned to use our bond well.

Had he? How had he done so?

You did so by mistake, didn’t you?

Yes.

Even if it is mistakes, you are talking to me. That tells me you are more ready to know than I thought. Come joins us in the office, my sexy man.

He wasn’t sure if he should listen to the voice. What if he went and he’d not been asked to come? What if the voice he head was not Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas, but someone playing a cruel prank on him? Could he take that risk?

He had to. His gut told him it was the only way to get answers. If he was not called to the office, lord that sounded like he was in trouble, then at least he could explain the mental voice to everyone and they could get to the bottom of it. If he had been called then . . . an explanation was awaiting him.
