Chapter 28
Shit. Rex shook his head. The voice was gone, but it
lingered. He knew it had been there. How? Why? Who? He looked from Aspen, to
Warlock Councilman Bryon Perry, to Fabin, but he stopped on Mixed Supernatural
Councilman Alvin Thomas. It had been his voice. Did that mean it was a Mixed
Breed thing?
Fabin came up to Rex’s side and slipped an arm around
him. Rex took warmth in in the embrace and leaned into him. The two of them
held a connection that was more than he’d had with Larry, but still his instance
to control was a problem. One that they’d just been told would not be a
problem.
“You said I would have a say in my life, Warlock
Councilman Bryon Perry.”
“There is a lot for you to learn and lots for you to
catch up on.” Warlock Councilman Bryon Perry motioned to the sofa and the entire
group retreated.
Rex wasn’t sure how he ended up with Mixed
Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas beside him, but there was an electric
charge between them. Not a bad one. A intense one. even held a bit of sexual
aspect to it. Why?
“Since you were not given the same opportunity as a
normal Mixed Breed child you will have to learn fast and in a rapid sucession.”
“What does that mean, father?” Aspen sat on the other
side of Fabin, who held Rex’s hand.
“It means, that my grandson will have to learn both
sides of his life, then that of a Mixed Breed before he can decide which way he
wishes to live.”
“Or . . . settle down.”
That drew a deep grumble from Fabin, getting a deep snarl
from Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin Thomas.
“Watch it, wolf.” Mixed Supernatural Councilman Alvin
Thomas said. “Best remember who you mess with.”
“A cat.” Fabin snapped and tugged Rex closer to him.
“A cat that holds you fate.”
Rex wasn’t sure if he was supposed to have heard that
comment or not. It was barely loud enough to catch. And he did not think Fabin
did. He knew the rest of the group had not. What he did not know was what it
meant. How did a cat hold Fabin’s fate. Just another damn unknown. He was tired
of them. Time he got to learning everything he needed to know.
“When do I start? Where do I start?”
“That’s what I like to hear.” Mixed Supernatural
Councilman Alvin Thomas smiled at up at him, putting a warmth deep inside him. One
he wasn’t sure if he liked, but his wolf was pleased, even if a bit unnerved
with it.
