Chapter 29

Alpha Tate glared at Bobby soon as him and Tommy walked out. His stern eye had Bobby dropping his head and lowering his eyes.

“About time you showed up, Bobby.”

“Sorry, Alpha. I was a bit under the weather this afternoon.”

“Son, you alright?”

Daddy Simon’s shift from Alpha mode to Daddy mode was like a whiplash that made Bobby’s already throbbing head swirl faster than he could keep up with. It took him a moment before he could respond. “I’m fine, Daddy Simon.”

“Well, then let’s get back down to business. We don’t need to make Alpha Kind wait.”

There he went again with the whiplashing mode. Man alive, how did he do it. Most of the time Bobby could handle it, but when his body was still a bit unstable he found it a bit harder to focus. Sealing himself to Tommy had helped greatly, but it had not taken away the effects of the reaction of my slip up.

All four of us piled into Tony’s limo and was at the Trap Shelf resturant in a matter of minutes. Tuxes made better sense. Place took months to get a reservation. Unsure how Tony managed to get one on such short notice. Not to mention the cheapest thing they sold was a hundred bucks. Bobby had never eaten there in his life. First thing for everything.

“Why are we here, Uncle?”

Tommy’s question held lots of merit, but Bobby knew the answer would not come. And it did not.

“You will see. Let’s go. Both of you be on your best behavior.”

What were we children? We climbed out of the car after them, putting us walking behind them. They walked faster than us, causing us to be several feet behind them.

“God, baby, I feel like we are in school again.”

Tommy’s unease had Bobby wrapping his arms around him just as Tony spun and told them both to stop. He walked over to them, leaning in, sniffing, causing Bobby to snarl.

“What is wrong, Tony?” Tommy tugged him closer to him, calming him a bit.

“Your scents . . .” Tony’s head snapped towards Bobby, glaring like any father might when his daughter’s honor had been inpuened. “He has your scent. Why? When  did this happen?”

None of your business all but flowed from Bobby, but disrespecting Tony would not go over well with Tommy or with the head of the Mob. Nope. Did not need to alienate Tony or piss off Tommy. Bobby tried to go for poliet and nice.

“If you must know . . . Last night.”

Great. Blew nice and poliet. More snotty and rude. Damn it. His harshness must not have been a problem, because Tony shook his head and faced Daddy Simon.

“Hope this does not blow this all to hell.”

Daddy Simon sighed then waved toward the door. “Let’s go find out.”

“What is going on?”

Neither answered Bobby. They just headed for the door.

“You have any idea, Tommy?”

Bobby’s wolf was pushing forward and telling him to take Stay and run fast and far, but he knew his Daddy Simon would not hurt him. Nor would Tony harm Tommy. Whatever them two were up to would not harm either of them.

“Let’s go find out.”

Tommy tugged him forward and walked him through the double glass doors into a room that had massive glass chandlers dangling over every table spread out through a huge banquet hall. Far up front was a ball room style dance area. In the middle of ever table sat a different style and shape of wooden sculptures. The entire place was magical. There was no way a pure human had designed the place.
