Chapter 41
After the meal was over they all retired to the living room. Bobby, Tommy, and Tony took the sofa facing the living room door, giving them the perfect view of the entire room and out the window. Alpha Kind, Thomas and Lynn were forced to put their back to the door. Bobby was sure it put them on edge, but they remained quiet about it. Shocked him that Alpha Kind did not buck on it, but he knew the entire situation was tense to start with.
“Mr. Stake, I have to agree with you and Alpha Kind, young Tommy here is an amazing cook.” Thomas gave Tommy a small bow.
Bobby squeezed Tommy’s shoulders as he scooted further under his arm. His reddened face was cute and needed kissing, but the time was not right to do so.
“I think we need to get to any questions there might be.” Alpha Kind said. “Do you not agree Bobby?”
He did. The sooner this meeting was over the better. Bobby’s entire body shook and the food sat like a brick in his stomach. He’d not been able to enjoy the wonderful food Tommy had cook. Least he knew his mate had saved him some for later. He really did look out for him.
“What question do you have for us?” Thomas placed his hands on his knees.
“Sir, I really do not know. Until this came up, I had not considered meeting you. Don’t mean to sound disrespectful. It’s just dad and Daddy Simon gave me all I needed.”
He gave a weak smile and a small bow of the head. “Least I know you had a good life and the decision that was taken from us did not turn out horrible.”
Taken from us? What? How was given up a child taken from anyone? That made no sense.
“Excuse me? What do you mean by that?”
“When your mom got pregnant the Master at the time was her Uncle. He ordered us to put you up for adoption and to not think any more about it. We went into hiding, but he found us and locked us away until you were born. Took you straight away. We was not even allowed to hold you. Took me five days to get your mom to quit crying. That is why we always hoped you would want to know us.”
What in the world? How could . . . No one in their right mind would . . . It would have drove a Wolf Shifter insane to lose her child in such a manner. Did Vampire females not gain such a connection to their children? Guess they did if she cried for five days. Or sort of. Some kind at least. Lord have mercy. He’d been stolen from his parents. He never considered such. What did that mean for him? Did it change his feelings towards them? Should it? How hard had they tried to get him back? Had they at all?
“Bobby,” Alpha Kind held out a packet of papers. “Here is the proof what they say.”
His mind was racing. Took all his strength not to throw up right there in front of everyone. His body rigid. No way he could take what his Alpha offered. He could not even move his head to motion for Tommy to take them, but his mate was on top of things and reached for it. Through the corner of his eye, Bobby watched as Tommy read through each sheet. Then he laid them on the edge of his knee.
“Honey, looked at me.” He took hold of Bobby’s chin and forced him to look at him. “They are telling the truth.”
Those words done something to break Bobby’s frozen state. He leaned forward and gave his mate a light kiss on the cheek and took the papers from his lap and studied each sheet thoroughly. He might not have been concerned as to why his biological parents gave him up, but it broke his heart to know what his biological mother had suffered.
“Mrs. Timbers, I am truly sorry for what you went through. I would not wish this on any woman.”
Her smile as bright and her eyes shined with happiness as she appeared to study him. “Least I know my son had a good life like I always dreamed of.”
It was the softness and love that he heard in her voice that broke his barriers down about getting to know them and had him making the one offer he went into the meeting doubting he would make.
“I would like to get to know more about you, but I must ask this question.”
“Ask anything you wish?” Thomas and Lynn said at the same time.
“Could this ex-Master you spoke of be alive and threatening me?”
“No.” Thomas said. “He was killed two years after you were adopted.”
Okay, if he could not be the one, who else in their family might hold a grudge against him. “Tell me about the rest of the family and let’s see if we know any of them that might want to do me harm.”
Thomas went on to tell Bobby about his grandparents being dead and his one Uncle and his sons all being under the age of ten, but they lived in another country. He had an Aunt, who had lost a leg. Turned out he had a brother who was nineteen, two twelve year old sisters and his mom was expecting again. They had even brought pictures for him to see. Turned out his father’s gene was prominent in each one of them. What caught his attention was when they mentioned a black sheep.
“What do you mean?” Bobby asked when Lynn mentioned it.
“He just turned seventeen. We do not claim him because his actions are disloyal to both kinds. He went and showed his true self to three women that were pregnant with his children.”
“My god, these poor women.” Hadn’t meant to say it out loud. “Sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Timbers. That could not have been easy on you. Does he know about me?”
“Yes. We never hid your birth from any of our kids or parents.”
“Would he have a reason to want to hurt me?”
“Not that I’m aware of. He is the only one that is not in touch with our family.” If Mr. Stake can find anything we have missed we give him permission to search our entire life. We heard in three days you are getting married.”
Shit. He might have been sorry that he had been stolen from him and might be okay with getting to know them, but he wasn’t sure how much he wanted them in his life yet. “That is correct.”
“We wish we had time to stay and celebrate with you, but we have to get back home. I hope you understand.”
“I do.” Thank goodness. Bobby almost crumbled with relief. He wasn’t sure if he had wanted them there or not. Best thing he could offer them was his phone numbers so they could speak and get a base ground knowledge of each other. If it got more than that, then it would be later down the road. “Here are my phone numbers.” He jotted them down on a small piece of paper Tommy handed him.
They passed him a card with theirs on it and then said, “We would love for you two to get permission to come and see us.”
“We will see. It was great to meet you.”
It was then that Tony sprang to his feet and rushed around the couch, rushing into the hallway, tugging Daddy Simon into the room as he kissed him on the forehead. “You are back early.”
“I’m sorry for interrupting. I was going to slip by.”
Bobby smiled and went over to them and hugged Daddy Simon. “Daddy Simon, I’d like you to meet my biological father, Thomas, and my biological mother, Lynn Timbers. Thomas, Lynn, this is my Daddy Simon Tate.”
“Sir, we would like to thank you and your partner for raising him up so good and making sure he had all he needed.”
Daddy Simon’s face dropped a bit, but his voice was strong as he spoke. “I wish his dad could hear that from you, but he has taken his journey home. Me and him would give Bobby anything we could.”
“We hoped he had a great life.” They made their way toward he door with Alpha Kind intow. “Once again, congratulations on your relationship and upcoming marriage.”
