Prompt: A vampire, a dwarf, and a werewolf walk into a bar…

Never thought I’d seen it, but I saw it. The day started off like any other day. Woke up. Went to work. Stopped off at my favorite bar on the way home orders my favorite beer from Alman, the bartender who knew everything. Me and Alman were in a deep conversation about the Panther’s draft choice when the entire room went so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. I spun on my barstool towards the door.

There they stood. The most unusual trio in the world. These three kinds of people had never been seen side-by-side in over two centuries. They preferred to do battle than breath the same air as one another. So why were they side by side in the same bar as me.

The tall, lanky, pale skinned gentleman, and that’s all you could all him with the way he wore a fancy, silky black suit with a sparkling white shirt with gold cufflinks and shiny, squared toed shoes. Typical clothing style for all Vampires. Right the opposite appearance than the scruffy appearance of the dark-brown haired, fully bearded man with baggy sweatpants and a holey t-shirt on. Bit dressier for a Werewolf than I’d seen before. The oddest among them all was the four-foot tall, dwarf that stood looking like a leprechaun with his green top hat.

“What do you think they are doing here? Together?” Alman whispered over my shoulder.

Wasn’t sure, but it couldn’t be good.

The three of them scanned the room three times before their eyes settled on me.

Chapter 24

Moloch paused and spoke to Maga for a moment then headed right over to Prince Moloch. He paid me no attention, or seemed that way. Moloch held stern eyes that bore right through you. His purple tinted white hair and grayish beard only intensified the scariness of him. It put a silent quake deep in me. I might have moved my seat away from Prince Moloch if I could have gotten away with it.

Prince Moloch seemed unfazed by him. He gave him a small bow and greeted him. “Moloch. What a shock.”

“Why is that son?” Moloch asked as he glanced my way. “Did you truly think I would not make an appearance today?”

“One could hope.” Prince Moloch crossed his arms. “It is my life I’m here for, not yours.”

“Yours is mine.” Moloch grabbed the edge of a chair and moved it along side his son. “Introduce us, Ez.”

Jerk. Couldn’t the man at least let us introduce ourselves to one another completely first? I mean, Prince Moloch hadn’t even had a chance to offer me his first name. I’d been so tongue tied, I’d not been able to say more than a handful of words to him. Darn it, I’d blown it already and would only make a bigger fool of myself.

“Your Highness Moloch, this is the guest of honor, Nacal Angire.”

“Sto.”

“Excuse me?” Moloch nailed me with an arched eyebrow, who was I kidding his eyebrows appeared to remain arched. They’d yet to lower since he took a seat at lest. “Did you just dare correct my son?”

“Moloch!” Prince Moloch drug his name out.

“He meant no disrespect by it, Your Highness.” Les bowed his head as he kicked my calf. “Isn’t that right, Nacal?”

“Course, Your Highness. I just assumed he did not realize that I did not have Maga’s last name.”

“And why is that?” Moloch raised one eyebrow higher. “All demon children take their father’s last name.”

“Among the Inccubus/Succubus World we take the Succubus’ last name.”

“But you are not of that world.” Moloch spoke as if I’d said the most offensive thing in the world. “Never have been.”

“I . . . Ouch. Would you quit, Les.” I rubbed my ribs, glaring at him.

Prince Moloch snorted, shaking his head at Les. “You can stand down. He will not offend anyone at this table.”

“Speak for yourself son. I think Demon Les is saving young Angire from digging himself a grave.”

“I think you should leave, Moloch.” Prince Moloch stood, waving his hand at the entrance to the banquet room. “This is a place for suitors for young Nacal. I am sure you are not in the market.”

“Not for him.” Moloch look offended beyond belief as he wiped his shirt off and stood. “We will discuss this more when you return tonight.”

Prince Moloch stood in silence until Moloch left the room and the noise around the room resumed. Sauces chattered, sure about what they’d just witnessed, and plates clanked as they were filled.

“Sorry for his actions.” Prince Moloch held his hand out. “My name is, Ez. Do you concede we have a lot to discuss?”

Did I?

I did, but I wanted to get to know him better as well. “Let’s take this slow, shall we?”

Another hard thump to my ribs had Ez holding up his hands to Les. “Please quit assaulting his ribs. He is well within his rights. This is all new to him. I’m sure where he is from his questions is perfectly normal.”

“It might. Be, Prince Moloch, but Your Highness will not - -“

“Let me handle my father.” He stood. “Would you like to show me around this place to start with?”

I took his hand and let him tug me to my feet and decide to take him out to the waterfalls Maga had setup out in the gazebo area. It was my favorite place outside the mansion.

Chapter 23

Person after person was introduced as they came in. Each came up to me and held their hand out to me. One thing in common with them all, beauty. Hadn’t seen a demon in the Underworld who didn’t hold an air of beauty to them. The women were right down gorgeous and neck breaking as Rako would have said, but the men held an air of natural sensuousness that I’d only saw among the Inccubus. Hell, not even they held as much as these men did, but at the same time, none of these men appealed to me. None called to my inner side the Demonology Book father gave me talked about.

The book had stated that demons had a sixth sense about who they were compatible with. Those Chosen for them it was so much more. It was as if you were . . .

All noise ceased as a throat cleared. Heck, I couldn’t even hear the every flowing chocolate fondue working.

“Prince Moloch.”

Maga’s voice spoke solid and proud. Didn’t have to see him to know his back was straight and his eyes lowered. Hell, everyone eyes were lowered, but mine. Might should have been, but my curiosity won over and I had to catch sight of the one that was supposed to be mine.

Black tipped, glistening silvery hair, with thick black eyebrows and a set of dimples deep enough to dip my tongue into while I traced his cheek, stole my breath. I all but coughed. Might have if those piercing sexy, light gray eyes had not caught onto mine. Every clear thought I’d had about what I would say to him when he arrived fled my mind.

My entire world froze. Sensible thought ceased. Mere concept to pay him due respect escaped my mind, even with Les nudging the hell out of my ribs. All I could do was stare at those lightly parted lips.

What would they feel like pressed against mine? Soft? Rough? Would he gently suck my cock between his lips or harshly gulp it down the back of his throat. My fangs shot free, dipping over my lips. I tried to shove them behind my lower lips, but there was no hiding the long ass things.

“Hello, my good Sir.”

Words. I needed them. What was I to say? I could not embarrass myself. Was going to. Heck fire, why in the world would someone of this magnitude of sexiness even glance in my directions.

“Nacal,” Les shoved his elbow into my ribs, getting a grunt from me. “This is, Prince Moloch.”

Right. Greet him. He was the prince. Could not ignore him. Maga worked for him.

“Excuse him, Sir.” Les gave my gut another jab. “He’s a bit overwhelmed with all of this.”

“It is only reasonable.” Prince Moloch came around the table and pulled out the seat next to me. “May I?”

“By all means, Sir.” Les said when I managed a nod.

“I’m sure he finds the entire Underworld a bit overwhelming considering he’s only been here a few weeks.”

Lord have mercy on my senses, what was that glorious scent? Lavender mixed with sandalwood? Smelled divine. Made me want to lick it off of his skin. My tongue darted out, tracing my lower lip, which caught his attention and got me a huge smile.

“Have you had time to visit many places around?”

“A few places.” I finally squeaked.

“What have you thought of our little humble abode so far?”

“Nicer than expected.”

Prince Moloch chuckled, tossing his head back, but that marvelous hair remained motionless. Did he use a lot of product or was it just natural for it to be that way?

“Do you think you would allow me to show you a bit of the unseen beauties among my world?”

I’d let him show me anything he wished. His home. His intuitiveness. His body for sure. Hell, I’d toss myself naked at his feet if he’d give me the chance.

What in the world was wrong with me? I never threw myself at people? I took time to get to know them. Make sure they fit with me. Ah, this was the Chosen aspect the book had spoken about.

“So would you allow me the privilege for your time?”

I gave small nod just as a trumpet blared. Prince Moloch’s smile faded into a tight line and a shake of his head. He stood and Les yanked me to my feet. I glanced at him just as Maga’s voice flowed through room.

“His Highness Moloch.”

Chapter 39

Elizebta and Javis sat and chatted until Enapay stumbled upon us the next day. He was wiping his blurry eyes as he looked into each room.

“Hey, babe.” Javis unfolded himself from the floor and made his way to him. “Enapay, I want you to meet Elizebta.”

“No.” He wiped down the front of his crumpled bed shirt and tried to spin away from him. “I can’t meet anyone looking like this.”

“It’s fine, young man. I’ve seen way worse over the years of my life.”

“You have?” Enapay quit trying to escape the room and let me walk him over to stand in front of her. “May I ask are you as old as Javis?”

“Older. I’m his sire.”

“Right. He told me that. Bed fog. Not a morning person.”

“Who is?” Elizebta stood in her elegant, fluent manner and held her hand out. “It is nice to meet the Heart Owner of my eldest child. You best do him right.”

“I plan on it, miss.”

“Then we will have no problems with the plan he has laid out in front of me.”

Javis nodded at Enapay when he glanced at him. “I’ve explained the plan and she and the others have came to the same conclusion as I had.”

“Ah . . . So no trouble by you going off the lamb.”

Elizebta busted out into a soft chuckle and covered her mouth with her dainty little hand. “None whatsoever. My son has always been smart and saw the bigger picture. He should have came to me and the others, but hey, we wouldn’t have listened. Most likely.” She sighed. “We are a stubborn bunch, us old vampires.”

Javis couldn’t argue with that. Even he was. It’s what made them so determined in their life. So formidable.

“Well . . . “ Elizebta pulled back her shoulders and raised her head, taking on the regal persona she live in her human life. “I will leave you to, to run the world and live a long and happy life.”

“Thanks, Ma’am.”

“No more ‘Ma’am’. It’s Elizebta.”

“Of course.” Enapay looped his arms through Javis’. “What is your next move, Elizebta?”

“I have a Sire to wrangle into seclusion.”

“If you need any . . .”

“I can handle Dracula, Javis.” She walked past him to the double sliding doors and slipped through them, making the guards jump about ten feet.

The guards turned to look at them, shaking their heads. Javis and Enapay waved at them and headed back to their bedroom. They’d rejoin life in a few hours. More time together seemed perfect before they had to enlighten the world to their new status. Javis sure was looking forward to moving forward in their new life. All the way around. He had a long, happy one ahead of him. Thing had worked out just like Alexander said it would.

Chapter 32

Enapay burrowed his face into the crook of his neck as he moved them down the hallway, by the guards, who all grinned at him. Most of them did. Two frowned. Those had been the ones who’d been with him from the time he began his political career. He guess they wasn’t so sure why he was messing around with the guy that had openly berated him a few weeks ago. World would konw the reason soon enough. He’d make sure they saw his mark on Enapay. The world would know that the Comannder and Chief had found his Heart Owner and they had claimed one another. As soon as he got him into their bedroom and spread out on the navy satin comforter.

Javis knelt on the edge of the bed and carefully, laid Enapay back. “Here we go, Mon amour.”

Enapay slid to the center of the bed, sitting up as he pulled off his shirt, revealing broad shoulders attached to a bare chest that sported two browinish-red puckered nubs. Javis latched his mouth around one as his fingers fondled the other, alternating between rubbing and pinching.

“Oh man . . .” Moans of pleasure escaped between those sweet little puckered lips. “Don’t stop. That’s . . .”

Javis knocked Enapay’s hands away from the buttons on his jeans. He would be the one to reveal the rest of his feast. No one would to take away his surprise. Javis unsnapped one then the second button, shoving them aside with such force that the zipper slid down. A hard, smooth, long, curved cock sprung out, slapping aginst the back of his hand.

Commando. “That normal for you?”

“Wh - - at?”

Guess the nimble fingers dancing along the bottom of his dick took away Enapay’s ability to think. Would have his. Javis’ pants felt like a brick had taken residence inside it. He’d rip Enapay in half if he was to take him right then. He’d have to take the edge off before he breached Enapay’s virgin hole. Or . . . That would work. Yeah. And be the perfect way to claim my Heart Owner. Show him just how much appreciation his Heart Owner had for the gift he was giving him.

He ran his tongue around the nub once, twice before making a trail up to Enapay’s chin, nipping it until he groaned.

“How much you trust me?”

“I’m giving you my life and death, what does that tell you?”

Lots, but . . . “Enough for me to take both gifts you are offering me tonight at once?”

Enapay lifted one eyebrow as his face reddened. “You mean . . .” His head was nodding before words of agreement left his mouth. “Take me. Make me yours in all ways.”

Chapter 31

“You mean . . . You . . . I never . . . You want . . . What?”

Enapay sniggered, sitting up, wiggling his ass against his cock. “Course I want to be with you for the rest of our lives. Only way to do that is to let you turn me. Is it not?”

Javis nodded, rubbing a hand over his face. “But you were so against - -”

“Being forced into it. Yes. This is . . .” He waved between their chest. “My choice. Our choice. We decide together how we live our lives. Not someone else forcing us into it.”

Right. That had been his whole issue. Right to choose.

“Us being . . . Me being your Heart Owner changes my entire perspective on what living like a Vampire would be like. I would not be just someone’s child and tossed aside along with others he chose to change at the end of their lives. You will. chaneg me because we will be at each other’s die for the rest of our lives. You will teach me how to become a vampire. Teach me what being a vampire means. And from what I know of you, how to be a decent vampire. Even if you did as told about forcing us mere humans to choose a Sire at the end of our lives, you were loyal to the one you answered to. That makes you a great person. One that I would love to spend the rest of my life with. And beside.”

Wow. What was he to say to that? Nothing.

He slipped his arms around Enapay’s back and tugged him against his chest, slamming his lips over his. Enapay’s mouth parted on a gasp, letting him in. His hand ran under the back of his shirt, up and down his spine. Enapay arched his back, giving him a perfect line of sight of the base of his throat. Never in his life had Javis longed to sink his fangs into spotless skin. Virgin skin. Knowing no other Vampire had touched Enapay was as much of a turn on as the fact that no other man had breached his hole. Fuck! True virgin in his world. All but unheard of these days.

How had he gotten so lucky.

“Javis,” Enapay titled his head a bit to the left, “take me all the way. Right here and now.”

“Not here.” Javis scooted his arms under Enapay’s ass, lifting him as he stood. “You deserve a comfortable bed and satin sheets for the first time, Mon amour.”

Chapter 30 Part 1

Javis hit play on the rented new release he’d just purchased from Prime. He wasn’t sure what it was. His attention had been on Enapay and the way he nipped his lower lip as he studied over the thousand of choices for them to choose from. Each time those pearly whites made an appearance on Enapay’s thin, pink lower lip his cock throbbed and his mind screamed for him to sucked that sweet lower lip between his own teeth, giving Enapay a true insight into what it felt like to have someone nip their lower lip.

The Halloween theme music began to play, having him jerk his head up. Had he really just paid to rent a movie he owned? He was just about to ask Enapay what he’d decided on, when Enapay came over and took the seat beside him, lifting the arm that would have separated them.

“If I’m going to watch the newest Halloween movie then I’ve got to be cuddled up.”

He was more than game for that. He opened his arm and let Enapay slid right up against his side. He brought his arm down over Enapay’s shoulder, letting his hand rest over his collar bone. Enapay snaked one arm around his waist and turned so he sat on the side of his hip with his body facing Javis’ as he laid his head on my chest.

Wow! What an intimate pose? Sure not the way he’d expected the first date to go. Wasn’t complaining. Wonderful . . . didn’t describe how it felt to hold the one that held your heart in their hands. Odd as that sounds, one person really indeed hold a Vampire’s life in their hands. A Heart Owner was the one that fate gave a Vampire to spend their entire life with. That one person held the . . . sanity of sorts of the Vampire in their hands. If the two come face to face together the Vampire could be totally broken in half for the rest of his life if the Heart Owner rejects him. If the Heart Owner accepts him and dies at some point in time then the Vampire could go mad if he did not choose suicide. It was that reason alone that most Vampire will change their Heart Owner into a Vampire. Never against their will, but most Heart Owners understand the reason for the request and greatly accepts it to ensure the safety of the one that they love, care for, chose to devote their entire life to and fate deemed to be theirs. There are the few times like with Alexander that the Heart Owner makes a request to hold off until a certain age to be changed, but before that date comes . . . Life altering destruction occurs. The Heart Owner died. Or was killed, like in Alexander’s case. No matter how much Vampires despised the idea of having to face that one day they would be without their Heart Owner, many find themselves in such a state. State of madness. Ready for death. It is rare to find a Vampire who has lost their Heart Owner to death that survives with a sense of reality. Alexander . . . If it had not been for Javis he would have requested the Royal Blood Society stake him for his own good. Javis could remember the day that Alexander came to him with that intent in mind. Javis had refused to hear his plea for a Royal Blood Society meeting. Told him that he would not allow his best friend face death when there was a chance that they could bring him back from the brink. And together the two of them managed to give Alexander a decent life. Not a completely full one, but one where he does not wish death every day. It had taken them secluding themselves for years and doing many deep mental dives into Alexander’s mental thoughts and reasoning behind them and what Alexander’s Heart Owner would have wished for him to have done. After ten years of seclusion, they began to mingle among Vampires again. Took another twenty decades before they managed to get Alexander in the same space as a human. He still did not mingle among them much, but he tolerated them now whereas to start with . . . his mind demanded he kill each and everyone of them. It had been a hard road back to a semi-balance of a decent life, but together they had done it. And Javis knew if and when the day that something took Enapay from him . . . Alexander would return the favor for him. Would he be strong enough to come back from loosing Enapay? Could he manage to be as successful as Alexander? Or would it depend on what had taken Enapay from him.

“What’s wrong?” Fingers trailed over his abdomen. “You are all stiff. Are you uncomfortable?”

Javis squeezed Enapay closer to him and lowered his lips to the side of his head, placing a light kiss. “Never. Anytime you are near me I am in heaven.” Lame, but truth.

“Then what is bothering you?”

“Let my mind wonder to the past.”

“I’m a good listener, if you need to talk.”

Wasn’t going to tell him what fear lurked to life and how it could affect me. What Alexander had gone through was his story to tell. Not his.

“Past is gone. Let’s just be here.” And it was time to take that advice.

Javis lifted Enapay’s chin with his index finger and lowered his head. Time seemed might as well have gone into slow motion. Neither of them rushed to reach the other ones’ lips, but when theirs touched . . . Sparks. Fireworks. Baseball over the wall feeling exploded throughout him. Mind loosing control consumed him as kaleidoscopes of colors zeroed in on him as Enapay’s sweet aroma consumed every pore of his skin.

His cock plumped, throbbing faster than his heart beat, which had to be going at least a thousand and one miles a minute. His chest felt as if someone had been tap dancing on it for a week. His clothing seemed to be squeezing in on him. An ache formed deep in his heart as it flared to life with each breath he consumed of his Heart Owner’s.

“I’m on fire.” Enapay panted between tiny kisses.

“You best stop me, or . . .” Both my arms wrapped around him, tugging him further onto my lap.

Chapter 29

Their meal was ate in silence, but one handed. Soon as the servant left them, Enapay took hold of his hand and never let it go. Didn’t bothered Javis one bit to eat with his non dominate hand. Good thing that came from a long ass life was you had time to teach yourself new tricks. One of his had been eating with his opposite hand. Wasn’t sure why, but looked like it’d come in handy.

“Ready to watch a movie?” Enapay pushed his empty dessert plate away. “That was the best food I’ve had since my mom was alive.”

“Sorry, she’s not with us, but I’m glad you enjoyed you food. We can make sure the cook is with us at all times if you like.”

Enapay shook his head and patted his stomach. “No way. I’d be as big a pig.”

Javis had to bite his tongue to keep from saying Vampires don’t gain weight. He had just gotten through one hurdle with his Heart Owner. He wasn’t going to jump right into another battle with him. One that Javis feared would be twenty thousand times harder. Changing Enapay’s mind about his stance on how the World was operated came down to simple fact. Him standing up to his leader. Being true to himself. Easy sounding. Hard as fuck in real life. But it would be easier than talking his Heart Owner into turning into a Vampire. He was sure of that. He sort of wished he could create a new law that stated all Heart Owner had to turn into a Vampire. A way to prevent people from suffering like Alexander had, but if Enapay despised the law that forced people to choosing a vampire to change them before their last breath was taken, he’d really hate being forced to change because he was destined to belong to a Vampire. Guess it was luck that Enapay had such a good experience with Heart Owners. That was a battle for another day. Right then, Javis was going to enjoy a movie with his Heart Owner and see where the rest of the night led to.

Chapter 28

“Admittedly . . . was at first. More so because you did not tell me. Jason had such a grand announcement. Saul kept him wrapped in his arms every moment they left the house and told anyone he was introduced to that he was his Heart Owner. By the end of their second day together, Saul had Jason planning this huge gathering for all their friends and family. Was over a thousand people thanks to his massive number of Vampire Children. It was the most beautiful, gold and silver streamers filled, gift welcoming party I’d ever been to. Or heard of.”

Javis could image so. Vampires took finding their Heart Owner as the most special event in their lives. Humans believed a wedding or birth topped everything, and it did to them, or should, but in Vampire Society . . .

“Saul gave his Heart Owner the proper welcome and most highest so of affection a Vampire can give one. Gold is how we show homage to the one we love, worship, devote ourselves to for life. Silver . . . as you know can harm us. Be deadly to us, so by surrounding ourselves by silver streamers we are telling our Heart Owner that we would accept pure silver into our bodies in exchange for his life.”

“Wow!” Enapay looped his arms around my waist as we made our way over to the the dining room table. “That is . . . beyond . . . sweet. I would say unnecessary, but it would be wrong for me to dismiss something so special to your kind, when I so openly scolded you for dismissing our way of life.”

Javis pulled out a chair, tugging Enapay onto his lap. It might have been forward of him, but since Enapay had been so hands on with him since his arrival, he wasn’t going to give him a chance to back away. He loved feeling his Heart Owner in his arms. Right against his skin. So close he could feel his chest rise an fall. Perfection.

Enapay leaned his head back against his shoulder, sighing. “To think my stubbornness and someone’s else’s twisted idea could have made me miss out on what my friend has. I might be against having to choose to become a vampire instead of taking my last breath like a normal human being, but all of the Vampiric way of life doesn’t discuss me.”

That was great to know. Meant there was more hope for him and Enapay than he dreamed of. Took a huge weight off of his shoulder. He could all but see the shadow of the burden that had weighed him down over the last few weeks float from his body and through the roof of his house.

The servent came in carrying two plates. He paused when he saw us in one chair.

“Sir?”

“Sit them both on this side.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Enapay brushed a light kiss to his neck and slid form his lap. “This smells amazing.”

“Only the best for you.” Javis tugged his chair as close as possible once he was seated. “You are not getting that far from me. Yet.”

“Doubtful.”

“I think this is too risky.”

“Thought you wished me to go my own way?”

“I do. Did. Do. Ugh . . .” Alexander hand ran over his face as a rush of air left his mouth. “I wish for things to be handled differently and I know you can do so, but to go against Dracula’s order. It could go all kinds of ways bad. For you.”

“But it will go all kinds of way good for the world as a whole. Can’t it?”

“Yes, but . . .”

“The worst Dracula will do is lock me away.”

“Wrong. He can kill you.”

“I’m Elizebta’s son. He loves her. She will not let him kill her eldest and favorite son.”

“You are risking too much on her status among the Royal Blood Society. And Dracula’s lover towards your Sire.”

He was right, but he’d watched the two of them since he’d been turned Vampire. Those two were closer than any lovers he’d ever seen. Elizebta was his trump card, so to speak.

“You’ve got that stone-cold-red-fire-killer face on, so I know you can not be talked out of doing things this way, so I’ve got your back.”

“Like always.”

“Always will.”

“Guess you should call Julian in to setup the press conference for you.”

Julian’s thrilled voice about a second press conference could be heard in his mind before he even picked up phone. That man loved nothing better than press. Good or bad. Both he swore brought people to your side. Guess he was right, but having negative people on one’s side wasn’t always the best thing. He wouldn’t be keen on the topic or the gigantic amount of work that would be coming his way once the speech went live. There would be so many fires for him to control or put out that he’d be a sleepless zombie for a week or two, unless he could find a bigger story to toss into the limelight. He’d do his best to do so.

“He’s really going to love and hate you, isn’t he?” Alexander’s small chuckle had me doing the same as I dialed his number.

Chapter 23

Alexander was right. Javis knew it. Doing it . . . Another story. He had to gear up his courage. Reve it up. Throw it into overdrive. He could do what had to be done. A little extra courage would be helpful. And he had the best thing.

Heart Owner.

And he was taking the first major step.

A Date.

Once he had Enapay sealed to his heart, he’d be able to do anything that needed doing. And the best way to win him over was to start making changes, but . . . Could he make such drastic changes without repercussions? No. There’d be some who’d kick on it. Just like there were some who kicked on the way he setup the world to start with. Would it be worth it?

That was the question. To win over Enapay, yes. For the entire human race . . . in the long run, yes. He’d forestall the pending eradication of their race, which the current path led them to. For the Vampires . . . It didn’t take them back into the shadows, or put them back to feeding in secret, but it would mean they had to mix among the humans more. Have more give and take among the humans than they Dracula’s plan has given them. Some would raise a stink over that. Others, like Alexander, would shout their glory to the sky and back. He needed to find a middle ground between the two.

What would work best for both Vampires and Humans? Full supremacy by either race isn’t the answer. That is what got them where they are. Javis’ goal was to change that, which inreturn would cease the elimination of the human race.

If a sole leadership isn’t the answer then . . .

Combination.

Merger.

Fusion.

“Alexander, time to merge them.”

“What are you thinking?”

Javis rubbed my temple, wondering how to answer his questions. He had the jist of what needed to be done, just . . . How long would it take to do a half overhaul of the world while trying to win the heart of a Heart Owner?

“Gong to change it so that each Sector is ruled over by an elected Human and Vampire. Do away with the law forcing humans to choose a Sire before their death. They can still choose to continue their lives as a Vampire if they wish, but it must be their wish and a Vampire must willingly agree to change them. “

“Sounds like a great plan, but . . . Will take some time to implement.”

He was right. Nothing happens overnight. My changes seems simple and straightforward, but they weren’t. Major. Took time for such changes to reach the entire world. Not everyone read newspapers, listened to radios or watched television. Some people only got changes via word of mouth, which slowed down how fast the changes could be put into effect.

“What do you think Dracula will say? And do you realize that people will see this as you admitting to what Mr. Chavos accused you of.”

“Dracula will pay me a hellish visit.” His visit demanded preparation in the style of mocked simulations, which Alexander made himself available for. He just had no clue yet. “As for my appearance . . . I’ll have to show that Enapay convinced me of the value of his thoughts and rebute the fact that I stole and lied about anything to get my way into the Commander and Chief position.”

Enapay’s words about his actions to obtain his position is correct if it was broken down into smaller pieces, but . . . It was politics and there was always another way to spin a story. Or a new one to throw into the headlines.

“This sounds risky?” Alexander’s foot danced back and forth over his knee. “What if Dracula demands more punishment from you for derailing his plans?”

Was a possibility, but he’d not done something like that in over six decades. Damn old ass vampire was too lazy.

Chapter 22 Part 2

“You where off in your own head again.” Alexander sighed. “Tell me how your man got you to take him . . . how are you two going out on a date? You are the most well known man-vampire alive.”

“Somehow . . . I’m unsure what I did, but . . . he guessed I . . . in a round about way . . . guess you could say he knows that someone is in control of me.”

Alexander r scooted forward on the couch so fast he all but fell to the floor. “What in the . . . How did he figure that out? What did you say that tipped you off? You are not that careless. For fifteen years you have avoided giving that up. You would not do so now. You are dead. We have to leave. Now. Back. Gather him up. You can explain to him later. Get your ass in gear. I’m not kidding.”

Expected mouthful. No one got away with disobeying the Red Blood Society, not even a member. The member above all else knew who every vampire in the world answered to. Dracula. And they knew he lost any kind of empathy a thousand years ago.

“I’m not running.”

And he would not. He’d face the music. Tell Dracula the truth. He put me in charge of making a plan come to life. He’d work hard for fifteen years without a single slip up and when a challenge came to life, Dracual was nowhere in sight. His advisor could only tell him to wait for him to call. That was something that one could not do among the human politics and maintain their status, which meant stepping up and making choices on his own to save the task at hand. If Dracula wanted to punish him for keeping alive his ultimate goal then so be it. He knew Dracual would not care one bit that his Heart Owner had arrived, so he’d make sure that aspect was not mentioned.

“What do you mean?”

“Just what I said. I have done nothing but work to keep Dracual’s ultimate goal that he tasked me with alive.”

“He will not care about that.”

“Then he is the fool. Not me. I will no longer cave to him.”

“Then you might as well take control of the entire world and do what is best for us all. Humans and Vampires.”

Chapter 22 Part 1

“Alexander! Can you believe it!”

His best friend froze with his hand on the door handle, staring at him like he’d lost his head. Might have. He’d called him and told him to get his ass over here. Nothing else. Might have been wrong of him to frighten him like that. And Javis was sure he’d done so from the long, loud breath he released and the tight straight lips and pointy eyes glaring his way.

“Sorry, man. I should have - -”

“Been cleared on why I was rushing my ass over here?” Alexander released another long breath as he smoothed down his shirt. “I take it there is no emergency.” He didn’t wait for an answer as he shut the door and made his way over to my supply of animal blood. “I take it your life is in no danger of any kind, so am I free to gather that this is regarding your Heart Owner.” Once again he didn’t wait for an answer. “But not that his life is in danger, or you would be shouting orders at every single person in this house, right down to Julian who would not know what to do to defend himself if his life depended on it. And if your Heart Owner’s life was in danger his would.” He tore open the end of the stored bag of blood and tilted it up, gulping it down, forcing him to wait until he calmed himself further wiht some of the most disgusting food our kind had. “Well . . . You going to answer me or stare at the empty bag of blood. I can get you one, but . . .”

Shit. He’d gone off in his own thoughts. Something he’d done a lot of lately. Elijah had been covering for him, but it was becoming an issue. He had to lock down his Heart Owner. And his opportunity to start that task was at hand. That’ why Alexander was there. He’d be able to provide him with life saving advice on how to attract and pull in his Heart Owner. A wayward one that just realized his worst enemy might not be.

“Guess who has a date tonight?”

“Say you, since you called me.”

“Guess with who?”

“Since the only man that would catch your fancy is Enapay Chavos I’d say him.”

“Quit being an ass.”

“Quit playing like I don’t know the answer to these questions to start with.”

“Lighten up.”

“Grow up.”

“Dick.”

“Ass.”

We both fell into a fit of laughter, holding our stomach until we both had to drop into a chair. Leave it to Alexander to break up the tight tension that had taken residence in the pit of his stomach the moment that Enapay realized he wasn’t the one who thought up forcing every human to choose a Vampirc’ life. If it’d been up to him it would have only been a choice they could have made. Many would have. He was. sure of that. Among those who had chosen a Vampire to Sire then they’d came to them begging out of respect. One of the questions loads of the vampires asked before they accepted anyone into their family was if they came of their own choice or simply because it was the law. Most of the Vampires would turn the human down if they lied on that answer. it’s what he would have done. It would have been the first question he’d asked all possible humans that came to him. He would not have a child that only chose a Vampirc Life because of a law. They would hold grudges. Be an unfaithful child. Unsteady child. Three of the most deadly things to have among your children.

“So . . . tell me how you got him to come around to you.” Alexander tossed the empty bag of blood into the wastebasket and walked over to the couch. “Did you plant him with one?”

He wished he’d stolen a kiss from the sexy man that belonged to him. Or would one day. Hopefully.

“No.”

I can tell that you have thought of all this so . . . why did you put this stupid plan into motion?

Enapay’s comment replayed in his head. He was sure it would turn into a repeating record by the end of the day. Or week at least. HIm knowing the truth might just get him in trouble. Damn. What had he done that gave himself away? How had Enapay picked up on the truth he’d hidden from so many people for the last fifteen years. There was only one, maybe two, that knew the truth. Alexander for sure. Elijah, possibly. Then again . . Enapy understanding the real him is what he’d wanted. Why he allowed him to stay here. It was the ultimate goal. He’d been willing to tell him the truth once they were bound to one another. Once he had the man’s trust.

Trust wasn’t built in one day. A man would not go from despising a man’s value to accepting him for who he was in a blink of the eye. It came with time. And was built on a foundation of truth. His initial method of attack with Enapay had been to keep him in the dark about his true feelings about his assignment. Not so much because of his feelings toward it, but because he’d been ordered to keep it hidden from everyone. And orders from Dracula . . .

Right then Dracula wasn’t in touch with him. The job he’d been assigned required constant contact. If the vampire didn’t care enough to be there then maybe he didn’t care enough to ensure his plan worked. That meant it was left up to him, giving him the right to go the path of his choice. Right?

“Ouch.” He reached down and rubbed his shin. “Why’d you kick me?”

Chapter 21

He did, but not right then. Right then he deserved an answer to his first question. And Javis wasn’t sure if he had one. He made a great point. Going out in public was a circus. Press swarmed him. Security guards surrounded him at all times. That’s why he had all types of entertainment known to man kind inside his home.

“I can not take you out among others, but . . .” He waved his hand towards the office door. “Out there, as you have been told and shown, is major media setups. And I can have any kind of food we desire brought in and set up in a private room of the house without any guards watching us.”

Enapay took a seat on the sofa that resided inside the office. His head bobbed up and down a couple of times and a huge smile came over his face. Then he looked right into Javis’ eyes. “That sounds amazing. What would you like for us to do first?”

“How about we have dinner and a movie afterwards. There is an amzing pizzeria in town and I can send Elijah to pick it up. And there is all kinds of movies and if there is none we wish to watch we can rent one.”

“Sounds amazing.” He smiled over at him. “When can you have that Julian guy set up a press meeting for me.”

“I’ll get him on it.” He picked up his phone and sent off a text to Julian, who responded back immediately and said he’d have something scheudled for tomorrow morning.

“Well . . . I’ll let you get back to work and will see you tonight.”

“That you will.” He stood and walked over to the door and held it open for him. “Have a good afternoon.”

Took all his strength not to reach out and pull him in for a kiss. Javis watched as he walked to the kitchen doorway and disappeared into it. He then shut the door and leaned back into it, letting a huge breath of air out. He stood there for a moment or two before he pulled out his phone against and texted Alexander to come to his office.

Best friend time was what he needed. Oh, he had plenty of work, but it all could wait.

Chapter 20

What was he supposed to say? He did not want to lie to his Heart Owner. That would destroy them from the get-go and that was what he was aiming to avoid by having him here.

“There is more . . .”

Enapay was smart. He’d work things out on his own from my silence. Dracula could be told he said nothing and it be the truth. And maybe, Enapay would understand him a bit better.

“What is it? Or is it a Who? Is there someone else in play? Pulling your chain? Are you just a puppet? If you are . . . You can’t say.” Enapay ran his hand over his face. “I really don’t know you at all. Do I?” He looked up at me, shaking his head. “I’ve been spilling lies about you and all you’ve been doing is what you’ve been ordered to do. Haven’t you?” He groaned and stood, walking around the room, even going behind him.

Javis watched Enapay walk his office and mutter to himself. He made sure to cut the extra strong hearing he had down. Wasn’t something he normally done when people he needed to know thing about, but he wanted his Heart Owner to trust him and eavesdrooping in on his private discussion wouldn’t win him points. Might help him out in understanding him, but it might get his ass kicked to the curve as well.

Enapay halted his pacing right in front of him and pointed his finger in his face. “I’m not going to force you to tell me what is really going on and you being . . . forced . . . ordered . . . controlled, or whatever the truth is, does not change my feelings on what is taking place among my kind. It sort of changes my view on you and makes me wish to know the true you a bit more and for me to . . .” his voice faded, but not so low that his voice was unhearable. “Gather an explanation for the hard-on I’ve get being around you.”

Ah . . . he is feeling a draw to him. Warmth seeped over him and made his skin flush. He hoped it wasn’t noticeable. And thank goodness Enapay was willing to let him pass on asking him a thousand questions that might lead to him slipping up on who was behind his plans for the Vampires coming out. The Royal Blood Society had to remain in the background. Unknown. He had to listen to them. When they gave him orders, until then . . .

“I would love to get to know you more. In more than a friendship mode. If you would allow it.”

“How do you presume we do that? You are unable to go to a movie or a diner without a crowd of security. And people will swarm us if they see us together, unless . . . I need to give that speech to the media.”

Chapter 19

“Is that how it would feel to you to have to turn into a vampire?”

“Yes. I do not wish to spend an endless amount of time on this Earth without the ones I love.”

“Then your feelings towards our laws is based off your personal experiences.” He’d figured they were, but never expected Enapay to admit it so freely.

“For me, yes, but there are hundred of thousands of people out there that view being forced to give up their death as an act of sin. A crime against God. A crime against their personal choice of savor or Goddess.”

Least he included all religions, but Dracula did not do this because of any religion. Had nothing to do with that at all. In fact, Dracula was a devote Christian who had more than one discussion with his pastor about whether he had a soul or not. Pastor Chambers swore to him that all things among Earth had a soul and could be saved when their time came to an end. And even Vampire’s lives came to an end. At some given point.

“You do realize that Vampires can die.”

“It is rare.”

“We all do at some given point.”

“It is that given point that will become the issue.” Enapay laid his hand on the table. “Before you know it all mankind will cease to exist. What will you guys do then for a food source?”

“I do not allow them to drink from humans now. So there will be no difference.”

Many of us still did drink from willing donors and it would suck ass when what he said came to be. And Javis knew that it would one day come to life thanks to Dracula’s suck ass plan.

“Once there is nothing but Vampires among the world, how long do you think it will take before the animal source runs dry?”

Another point Javis had made to Dracula and he’d said they replicate faster than the humans do. Dracula only saw what he wished to see and would not have his mind changed by a lonely ole subject, even if said subject was supposed to be his equal among the Royal Blood Society.

“I can tell that you have thought of all this so . . . why did you put this stupid plan into motion?”

Chapter 18

Javis got lucky and Enapay agreed that since he would be listening to him, and sort of getting to know him, while he was there that he would let the press believe that to be the entire case if they discovered him being there. So far that had not happened and he’d been there for a month. During that month the two of them had little to no interaction thanks to some major territory talk that he had to proceed over. Damn Sector Operator was lousy as fuck. He thought when he appointed him that he would be more suitable for the position. Dracula to heavens, what a mistake that had been.

“Commander and Chief,” the backyard guard stuck his head inside the sliding door, “Mr. Chavos would like a word with you?”

Ah . . . First time they’d seen each other since he arrived and he came seeking him out. Yes. The Heart Owner aspect had came into play. He could no longer stand being away from him.

“Thank you for seeing me, Sir.” Enapay moved to stand beside the table, gripping the top of the chair nearest him. “I was wondering when we are going to have our sit down? I’ve yet to see or speak with anyone from your cabinet.”

Perfect time. Perfect place. His entire sides were on fire and his heart raced. The man was sex on a stick and he never once made use of it. Right the opposite. He wore lose fitting clothes. Hair was loosely combed back with no products. Basic down to the earth brands of clothing. Appeared as if he went out of the way to remain unseen. Unnoticed.

“Have a seat.” Javis sure noticed him. Every section of him. Those puffy, pouty lips that beckoned to be kissed. Those sweet baby blue eyes that begged to be full of lust and a haze of satisfaction. “Would you like something to eat?”

“Just a drink, Sir.”

“Javis, please.” He opened the fridge and studied the type of drinks that the guards had stocked. “What kind? We have cola, dew, lemon lime and tea.”

“Cola is fine, Sir.”

“Javis, is fine. I promise. No one will jump out and scold you. Or me for letting you address me so informal.”

“Are you sure?” He scanned the area. “That Julian guy is pretty . . .”

“Intense?”

“Yes.”

“He can be. Most of the time is, but I know how to handle him.” He carried over his can of soda and sat it down in front of him. “How have you. been? I apologize for my lack of hospitality.”

More than he knew. Each moment away from him had his mind wondering about him. Javis thought he had been a distraction before he saw him face-to-face it would be ten times worse now that the two of them had physically met. The urge to reach over and brush aside the stray locks of hair dangling across his forehead rushed over Javis. Took all his strength not to do so. What would Enapay have thought if he reacted in such an intimate manner? Would he withdraw? Come closer? Tell him he felt the attraction as well? How could he find out if Enapay felt anything unusual for him?

“I never doubted that you weren’t a busy man or that thought you did a shitty job running the country. I just think that you have stolen evreyone’s choices from them. It should be up to them whether they turn Vampire or not. Not forced upon them. Surely, you see how demoralizing being forced to do anything is.”

Great. Right off the bat he was handed a question that he could not answer honestly without making himself appear in a horrible light. Or a bad position. Julian would kick his ass if he answered this wrong and then Enapay ran out and told on him. He could not answer him before he knew if the man would choose him or not. He had to protect the object of Dracula’s assigned task. Didn’t he? Or did he? The man who asked was more important to him than Dracula, even if Dracula ruled over him.

“I thought we were going to get to know one another? Discuss my feelings about your harsh actions and you explain them to me. Give me a reason to come to terms with what is taking place among my kind. We can not do that if we are not going to speak with one another about the tough topics.”

He was right. Javis’ task at hand was not only to get him to accept him, but to get him to change his mind about Vampires and their way of life. More importantly, how he had been designated to lead his. That meant discussing the grit of the issues between them.

“You are right.” Javis pulled out the seat across from him and sat down. Here went nothing.

Chapter 17

Javis had head the door open and he was sure that Alexandar asked the question to insert Mateo into their conversation. Javis knew that Mateo was not pleased with how he was going about things with Enapay. And he had right to be pissed. Mateo was incharge of his security. Stupid as hell for him to have the man who openly voiced hostility towards him running free around his main home with only two restrictions.

“Better yet . . .” Mateo crossed his arms after he shut the door. “What was you thinking giving him such freedom?”

“It was the only way I could think of the two of us getting to know one another. He has to get to know the real me. My core self. Who I am deep inside. If he doesn’t then . . .”

“Thought if you two met face-to-face that you . . . Rejection from him would lead to a . . . No more Commander and Chief.”

“He’s decided to take the risk.” Alexandar sighed as he flopped into the chair beside my desk, making the antique wood squeak. “As much as I dread the possible results . . . I can’t blame him for doing so. Heart Owners are . . . Special beyond special.”

Javis hated the pain laced tone, but he knew how sincere Alexander was. He wanted the best for me, even if seeing someone else walking around with something he could never have again . . . It wasn’t fair, but . . . that was life. Even I couldn’t change that. Humans might complain and bitch about the hardship of their lives, but becoming a Vampire did not change that. What you had in one part of your life followed you into the next. It had been a hard lesson for the Humans to realize. Quick one though.

“I know how much of a risk I am running.” And Dracula would kill him if things went wrong. Might even if things went right. “But I would never be able to live with myself if I gave up what should belong in my life.”

Mateo tapped his foot then nodded his head. “Then there will be an increase in guards on the grounds and inside the house. Do not argue this with me. Only time you will have your normal ones is when you are in meetings. Are we clear?”

Small price to pay. And what I expected from him. Only thing left was to find a way to explain why he was on the Commander and Chief’s grounds after spilling such a vile message about him.

“What do you think we should tell the press if they catch wind of him being here?”

“You mean you aren’t. going to let Julian take care of that.” Alexander snorted and twisted his face into a grim expression. “He could never turn something like this into a piece of gold.”

Alexander never gave Julian credit for his work. Julian was actually great at his job, but Javis wanted to remain on top of the entire Enapay situation. It was a too delicate to have anyone other than someone who had a deep understanding of Heart Owners. And of course, security had to be involved since he had to have someone to bring Enapay to him.

“See if Enapay will agree to saying he is giving you a chance at showing him what it is truly like to be a Vampire. Or something like that. Or a chance to change his mind.” Mateo gave a shrug at his nonchalant suggestion that was the perfect one.

“We just have to get him on board.”

Javis believed he could do that. And if so . . . it would go a long way to presude the humans that Enapay’s speeches were being given a second thought by him. Just what he needed.

Chapter 16

Alexander followed behind him, silent and tall like a predator ready to strike. His best friend wasn’t, but was. He would tell him how much his plan held merit and sucked at the same time. Sucked didn’t fit. Deadly fit. Dangerous fit. If things went awry . . .

“You are taking a major risk going down this path.” Alexander shut the office door behind him and headed right over to the fridge kept behind the photo of George Washington. He snatched up some of the blood that was kept there for when he came over. “What made you think of this track?”

Javis shrugged his shoulders. “Just hit. Praying to Dracula’s stupid ass that it works.”

“What do you think he will say about it?”

“He’d kick my ass for going off the hoof.”

“True, but if he had time to think things through . . . What do you think he would have you done?”

What would he have had him done? Lock him away until he caved and changed his attitude towards them. Tortured him until he changed his mind. Gave them time to get to know each other. No. He would have gone down the quickest path to him. Force. He would not have taken into consideration that he was someone’s Heart Owner. That would not have mattered one bit to Dracula.

“You are limited on time, don’t you think?”

“Four or five months.” If he was lucky. Dracula had failed to already reach out to him, which meant he was in a mood of hiding himself away from everyone and everything. Those spells of his usually lasted several months. Question was . . . Had he caught him in the middle of his spell. The start of it, or was Dracula nearing the end?

“How often are you going to bump into him?”

“That is a great question.” Mateo asked from the doorway.

Chapter 11

He walked into his house and Mateo sat crossed legged on the sofa. He shot him a huge smile as he stood and waved him right down back out the door. He sighed, but turned and headed right back onto the porch and down it, rounding the corner, ensuring he avoided stepping in the huge mud puddle that always lurked on the path to the interrogation building that sat on his main home.

“When did he get here?”

“Two hours ago.” Mateo snorted. “He came quietly once he realized who sent me.”

Jaavis halted. “He did.”

“Swears he wants a face-to-face with you.”

“Could this all be a case of someone . . .”

“Don’t think he’s a threat to you, but he could be someone who wishes to spill some vileness your way. We’ve ran across a few of those before. None that’s gone this far, but . . .”

Possibility. He had reason to be pissed. His family hadn’t been able to partake in the law that would have made them a Vampire because of what took their lives. He’d survived to suffer through life without them and would have to become a Vampire and live without them as well. Sucked. Harsh as hell.

“Has he said anything since he arrived?”

Mateo shook his head. “Sat behind the table quietly. Didn’t even complain about being cuffed to it.”

Huh? Made no sense. This Enapay guy had him confused. Wrapped up in . . .

Oh man, what was that . . . Air stuck in his throat. His eyes closed, savoring the wonderful, most sensual, sweetest citrus he’d ever smelt. He loved any kind oranges, but he wasn’t sure if any he’d ever discovered smelled so . . . He sniffed the air, all but groaning as a electric current shot through his body right to his cock, thickening it so hard he all but doubled over. Fuck. What in the world? Nothing should have . . .

Heart Owner. Alexander had told him how intense the initial reaction to his Heart Owner had been. Damn it.

“Who else is in there with him?”

His words were tight and gritted, which had Mateo glancing his way.

“No one. Left Alexander watching from the other side of the mirror.”

“Alexander is here?”

“Yeah. He said you knew he was helping.”

Javis nodded. “Can you get him for me?”

“Sure, but don’t you want to . . .” He waved towards the door that kept his Heart Owners from him.

“Need Alexander. Please.”

“Sure, Sir.”
