New Way to Find A Book

 Hi All,

I know I've been away for a long time, but I've been super busy with writing, family life (major family life), and started working towards my bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing. I am working on a book, but in the meantime, I've tried a new way to publish a book of mine. So here is a new link to buy my Marked Ones: David and Bryan.

Lightning Strikes Part 2

His dad uncurled the paper and held it up in the air, smiling at the paper. “Come stand beside me, Jeffery. Hurry, we don’t need to stay here long.”

He moved so he stood beside his dad, who lowered the paper down to waist height. “You need to study this and remember what it says. It is important to your history and your life. It will save it or . . .” Dad’s hand shook, causing the paper to waver. “This is what we’ve always taught you about your entire life.”

Jeffery rested his hand over the side of his Dad’s and took the paper from him. He stared down at the foolscap wondering where the fancy writing was. He’d been told day after day for ten years by his father and grandfather that their family history was written on some ancient sheet of an unusual-sized piece of paper. He never believed a word of their stories, it all seemed make-believe to him because they held no proof of such paper. Oh, he’d heard of the paper and saw them in books, but why would some Magical Beings family history be written on a foolscap? Dad swore to him only the Old Ones wrote on an 8 X 13 size paper with quill and ink. Okay, that part actually made sense. How else would someone back from George Washington’s time write? He guessed he was lucky and it wasn’t on a clay tablet in picture form. Still, there was nothing on the paper, so what was he supposed to be looking at? From what he’d been taught and what his dad just told him he was supposed to learn his family history and where he came from since the Orgs took out his entire family before his entire fifteenth. Birthday.

“Can I help you with something, young man?”

Jeffery spun to find a crumbled-in-, on himself, long, whited-haired man leaning against a wooden walking stick that stuck a good foot above his head. A voice he’d not heard in over six years came to mind.

“Elder of Summar, you must kneel, boy. Now!”

Why had his dead father’s voice sprung to life inside his mind? He’d not heard it since the day before the Orgs attacked. It put an intense, deep ache in his bones, but he did as it said, yet he tucked the foolscap behind his back. Whatever his Dad had stolen, Jeffery was sure he wasn’t supposed to have it if his birth father, King Effery of the Effery Cove told him an Elder of the Elemental Gods stood in front of him.

Jeffery clenched the ancient sheet of paper, praying the Elemental God failed to notice how his hands were stashed behind his back. Luck was not on his side. The Elemental God pointed at him and crooked his long, hair-covered dart-tipped-like finger at him.

“Stand and extract the Futurity Teller the Stealer of Life’s Future has taken from its protective case.”

Jeffery took a huge breath and told himself to puzzle through what he’d been told to do by the old fool. Not that he’d even call an Elemental God an old fool to his face. The only paper he. Could extract was the one behind his. Back, which meant it had to be the Futurity Teller. The name itself led Jeffery to believe it had to tell the future of something, but what? And since his father took it from the case, he had to be what the old wisen man referred to as the Stealer of Life’s Future.

What was a Stealer of Life’s Future? Dad would steal nothing. He’d rather cut his hand off than do so. He wore my rear-end out when I stole a candy bar.  What was going on?

Weekly Prompt

Prompt came from: https://fabledplanet.com/50-fantasy-writing-prompts/

Prompt: A deceased pet from the past shows up in your house – but now, they can talk. And they have something very important to tell you.

The lights were off, only light came from the faint orangish-flame burning in the sutt covered fire place my great-great-grandfather built with his own hands seven decades ago. Hell, he’d built the entire house from the first brick to the last stone paver in the driveway. Each generation had kept it up from then on, right to the moment it had been passed onto me the other month when my father had taken his last breath thanks to cancer. Right along side him had gone his trusted beagle, Servy. Servy, had came to my father when he was a pup from the woods behind the house. Father had found him wondering around, hungry and thirsty. He rushed him back to the house, begging his mom to keep him. Grandma had tried to tell dad no, but one look at the ruggied dirt covered puppy had her caving and shaking her head. Who knows why dad named the little black and white beagle Servy, but he did and the dog grew up to be the most loyal thing in the world. It did not surprise me that he took his last breath two days after my dad did. He vet said it was no uncommon for dogs who grew up with someone to pass along with them as well. It hurt me as much to lose Servy as it did my dad.

I’d felt lots of loss in my life over the last ten years. It shouldn’t. be new to me, but I doubted it ever got easier to lose a loved one. I feared each of us had to suffered the grief process no matter what it was. I assumed that’s why I found myself sitting in my dad’s favorite, brown leather chair, the one that was conformed to his ass and had no cushion left in it, staring into the fire like a lost person remembering all the good times dad, mom, my wife and two children had together. All the ones I loved and lost over the last ten years were alive in my memory tonight, full and bright no matter how much I wished their ghost were not haunting me.

Whoof. Whoof. Whoof.

“Where is that coming from?”

I stood and made my way over to the front window, peeking through as I clicked the front porch light on. Doubted I’d see anything. There were no homes within a mile of the farm. All that I’d be able to see were empty horse pasters. Dad sold all his horses the moment he was diagnosed with cancer of the pacourous. They’d told him from the get-go there was no chance of surviving it and he knew I had no dream of running the horse farm. I loved the house and would keep it, but did not want the ordeal of keeping up the farm.

The light blinked on and off twice then fluttered to a bright life, revealing . . . “What in the world?”

I rushed over to the door, throwing it open and stepping onto the front porch, kneeling down, jerking back upright before I called Servy to me. There was no way in the world the dog I saw sitting in the front yard was Servy. I’d buried him next to my dad almost a month ago. Whatever dog sat there staring at me was just similar in looks. That’s all.

“Shoo, go away. Find you way back home.” I turned to go back in and got my hand on the door when the most unbelievable thing in the God-green Earth happened.

“I am home, Pinky-Boy.”

Only one person called me Pink-Boy in my life, my father and he only did so when we were alone, or when no humans were around us. And there were none around me right then. Hell, there was nothing around me then, but a damn dog that resembled a dead one.

“You are not going insane, Pickard.” The dog was at the foot of the porch when I turned back towards the front yard. “I have a message for you from your family.”

“Message from . . . Are you . . . I’m . . . There’s no way in the world I’m seeing or hearing this.”

The dog, no Servy, trotted the rest of the way up the porch and came up to my feet and sat down, staring up at me with his tongue hanging out. “You are.” He bobbed his head. “Your family, Lisa-Ann, especially says for her daddy to bring the horses back to the farmie for her to watch from above.”

Oh my God. There was no way, to disbelieve what I was hearing. Lisa-Ann had only been five when the drunk driver hit my wife’s car and took my entire family from me. My wife, Jessie, our son, Harry and our baby girl Lisa-Ann had all died on impact, leaving me to live a life without them all. Lisa-Ann had loved to come to the farm and see her grandpa, she never called it anything other than farmie and loved to ride the horses. She swore to her grandpa that she’d be a jockey one day like her grandma had been. Maybe, the message was from his family. Maybe, they were alive and watching him from the Good Heavens above and wanted him to know. Watned to give him a way to make it through the rough time that lay ahead of him now that he was all of the Hunkard family that lived.

Chapter 37

Ez and I made our way down the steps and into the living room when Maga came in holding a dark amber drink. Looked as if he’d pulled out his top notch liquid for Your Highness.

“Father, why are you taking advantage of my new family?”

“It is not an advantage, Prince.”

“See, I’m not rude, son.”

“Matter of opinion.” Ez huffed and led me over to the sofa across from his father, sitting me down. “What was you thinking entering our bedroom like that?”

“You should have contacted me before you sealed yourself together. Should you not?”

I refused to wiggle in my seat under his intense stare. Ez snapped his finger in front of my face, not to get my attention, but to drag his father’s attention back to him. I’d have to give him a huge kiss when his father was gone.

“And why should I do that? It is my life and he is my Chosen One. We were within our right, were we not?”

Your Highness waved his hand, like swatting a mosquito away. “Doesn't matter where my son is concerned. I have the finally say.”

“If that is what you think, then you can take my title form me and shove it up your demon leadership ass, father.” Ez stood and pointed at the door. “Leave and take all your guards with you. We do not need you.”

What the heck was he doing? I did not want him to do that. His father would blame me. Blame Maga. Take it out on him and my entire family. I went to stand, but Maga motioned for me to remain seated, so I did, staring up at Ez.

Moloch sprang to his feet, speed walking to Ez, getting in his face. “You will do no such think. You are my only child.”

“Then I guess you accept my Chosen One and respect our home from this point forward.”

Moloch huffed and spun on his heel. “You are leaving me no choice.”

“Guess not.”

“Ungrateful son.”

“Guess so. Either that or nothing at all.”

“Fine. Fine. You can have your Chosen One.”

“Know I will.”

Ez had known how to play his father the entire time. He knew what would happen when he played his trump card. I’d not been on top of my game where Moloch was concerned, but Maga had, which was why he alerted me to remain seated and let Ez play his game. Guess Ez knew his father like most people knew there’s.

Would I ever know Maga that much? Didn’t matter if I did then or not, one day I would know him enough to be able to read his signs and his state of mind. That’s what I wanted, one day when it was proper. Until then, what we had was perfectly acceptable.

“I will leave it up to Maga to get this place setup for security and make it safe for you and your Chosen One. I will make the statement this evening. Until then . . .” Moloch sighed, “You will have to have extra guards stationed here.”

“Yes, Your Highness.” Maga stepped forward. “I”m already on top of it.”

“Figured as much.” Moloch walked out of the room without another word.

“Guess I shouldn’t have expected a well wish or congratulations.” Ez flopped down beside me, taking my hand. “Least he agreed to our combining.”

“He had no other choice.” I leaned over half in his lap, kissing him until he wrapped his arms around me.

“Um.” That was nice. “What did I do to get that?”

“You stood up to the big old master demon for me.”

“Would no matter what it cost me, baby.”

“Most would not have been willing to give up an entire empire for little ole me.”

“Then they would have been unworthy of you.” Ez took hold of my cheek, placing a light kiss on my lips. “You are worth everything to me. No matter how much it cost me, you will always come first to me. Got me?”

“I do. What now?”

“We live our lives together.”

Chapter 36

We’d been asleep for quite awhile when Ez bolted upright as a whistle filled the room.

“Ugh! What is that?”

“An alert.”

“Uh?” I covered my ears, hunting in on myself. “Why is it so loud?”

“To wake me. It’s from Maga. He’s caught word that my father is on his way. How close he is is debatable.”

“Oh.” I flopped back onto the bed, rubbing my stomach, thanking the Inccubus Goddess that the whistling had ceased. “Does he warn you each time Moloch shows up?”

“Only when they might be trouble from him.”

Trouble? Why would there be . . . “He will not like that we . . . Will he throw a demonic fit again and attack Maga?”

Ez shook his head as he hung it low, rubbing his hand over his face. “I have no idea what he might do.”

“Why will it bother him so much? I was your Chosen One. That is all that should count. Right?”

Ez always appeared composed and in control, but the way his eyes roamed the room and he kept glancing at the phone had me sitting up and scooting up so my legs were around him. I pulled him into my chest, rubbing his back.

“Everything will be okay. We are together and we can handle anything. As one. We are stronger together.”

I hoped what I said eased him. It felt like the correct thing to say. Wasn’t quite sure what Moloch might have against us completing our connection, it was bound to happen at some time, but he would just have to accept it. We had completed it. We were bound to one another. Nothing he could do about it.

“I know we did nothing wrong.” Ez sighed, kissing my shoulder, trailing the tip of his tongue up to my ear. “You are mine and that is all that matters. He can shove his disapproval. I am a grown demon and you belonged to me. You chose me.”

A faint knock on the door, or three taps and then a single one was all the warning we had before the balcony door flew inward. Moloch and his grand entrance was kind of stupid considering the glass of the doors were laying in shards on our bedroom floor. Still, the Highness of the Underworld made a show of entering our bedroom.

“Father, what do you think you are doing?”

What I wanted to know as well. We had a front door. Guest should use it. He might be Mr. High-and-Mighty of the Underworld, but didn’t mean he had the right to enter a man’s bedroom while he was in it naked.

“I think you need to go and wait downstairs. We will be down in a few minutes.”

Unsure how I mustered the strength to standup to him, but the words were out and solid and stern sounding. The wide-eyed expression on Ez’s face told showed the story as well. Wasn’t sure how wise my comment had been, but I really didn’t care. Moloch could disrespect me all he wanted, but he should have more for his son. Entering his son’s bedroom the morning after his combing wasn’t disgraceful and disgusting. Someone needed to put him in his place.

“I will tell you this,” Moloch pointed his index finger at me. “You have balls, but I do not care what you say.”

“Then care what I say.” Ez moved in front of me, uncaring of his nudity.

Moloch tilted his head, staring directly into Ez’s eyes for several seconds before he gave a slight nod. “No more than four minutes. Both of you.” He vanished.

Chapter 35

The windows did rattle. More than that, one shattered when he shot his load deep in my body. As he collapsed over my body, he whispered his declaration of love for me. I couldn’t reacquaint it. I expected him to throw a fit, storm from the room, or leave me laying in our afterglow of glorious love making, and that what it had been. I’m sure of that, even he said it, even I knew it, but to say those words . . .

Those three words were something Incubus never used. We showed it with our actions. When we came together with our partners. We spoke it with our bodies. Our facial expressions. Our everyday acts. The way we behaved around them when we are with others.

What I got from him all but had the words pouring out of me, though. He slid to the side of me, tugging me tight against his body, nuzzling his nose into my neck, licking it then biting down. Then spoke the most amazing words.

“I was giving you the outward sign that I received your message”

Felt the heat rush my skin, because I’d hoped he caught onto what I tried to show him with my body, but I’d feared failure.

“Was it the broken window?”

“No. It was how easily you accepted me into your body. How you thrust back into me, meeting each of my thrust. Those sexy moans of greetings with each of my touches. All those small things that made our combing so much more intense and special. The broken window . . . That was a combination of both of our magnificent release.”

I’d wiggled closer to him, relaxing into his body, letting him tighten his arms around me, holding me as no one else had in my life. I might have accepted him as mine before I desired to, but it was well worth it. We’d make a great life together.

Chapter 34

How did I tell him that I’d not expected so much press? Maga had told me there’s be a major change in my life when I chose him, but he said nothing about press. It seemed like it would be like a life of royalty or star life. Wasn’t sure how I felt about that. Couldn’t change thing, I’d done accepted him. Would I want to?

No.

Just wished I had known before hand. It would have eased my mind. I might have taken a bit more time to gather my wits about me before accepting him.

No I wouldn’t have. It had been done in the heat of things just like it should have been done. I was just nervous. Overly caution. Fretting over what would never be in my control.

“Nothing.” I leaned over, gently taking his face in my hands, kissing him.

“Much as I loved that, I know something was bothering you.”

“Had to work through my own . . . thoughts of what I hadn’t known to expect. That’s all, sweetiums.”

“Oh, the intense press.” He sounded do dismissive of it. “Guess it don’t bother me anymore. Can see how it would you. It will get quieter once the newness of us wears off. I promise, Honey.”

He should know. And we’d come up here to be together. I wasn’t going to let them ruin our time together. Not again.

I climbed onto his lap, running my tongue around the outer edge of his tongue. He groaned, gripping my waist and yanking me closer to him, rubbing our cocks together.

“Man alive, you know how to turn me on.”

“Just getting started, swettiums.”

Drove my hand under the edge of his shirt, pushing it up and over his head. My fingers trailed over his shoulder, down his chest and around his nipples, pausing to rub across them. I was on my back and my pants were at my waist before I could take a breath.

“Take it you like your nipples —” A groan flowed from me as his hand wrapped around my cock, stroking up slowly, twisting around the mushroom head. “Oh, man.”

“Going to make you shout until the every window in this place rattles.”

Bet he could.”

Chapter 33

Ez made quick work of the Underworld Times. He allowed them two questions and one photos of us together. He did not tell them we had sealed ourselves together, but that we were Chosen Ones and working on a relationship that would last a lifetime. Kind of liked that he didn’t out our new status to the world before we even made love. Didn’t want them bombarding him with all kind of other questions keeping us from getting to our little love nest. Soon as they left, Maga came up to us and waved us up the stairs.

“I’ll keep any more interruptions at bay, Prince Ez.”

My face felt like a furnace. Who wanted their father to know they were going to go up and be with a man, or anyone for that matter.

“Come one, Honey, lead the way.” Ez took my hand and gave it a little tug.

I drug my feet, not because I wan’t existed to get him into bed, but to give my father a chance to forget where and why I was going up to my room with Ez. Like he would. Man had been hoping since before I was born that I would be the Chosen One to Prince Ez.

Ugh. “He’s never going to forgot.” I sped my walking up, getting a funny look from Ez. “What? Would you like Moloch knowing you were taking a man up to your room to sleep with?”

HIs mouth formed a O shaped then he shook his head. “It’s a natural thing among Incubbus, I thought.”

“It is, but still it gives me a weird feeling. I always had my own place among them. My brother, didn’t have to see me take someone home.”

“Took lots home, did you?”

A deep, jealous rumble from him lit my body ablaze. I had him pressed against the wall in a second, nipping his ear.

“None you need to worry about, Sweetium.”

He hefted me off my feet. “Which way?”

I pointed to the room at the far end of the hallway. He carried me the rest of the way there and kicked the door open, doing the same to close it.

“Shit, got to close those shades.” He sat me on the edge of the bed.

“There’s a remote on the edge of the nightstand. And why do . . . Oh, photographers. They wouldn’t go that far would they?”

“They’d do whatever it took to get a shot of us in a compromising manner.”

“Us making love would be compromising?”

“Before me announcing us as Combined, yes.”

The whirl of the shades filled the room, washing away my lust filled mind. I scooted up to the top of the bed, kicking my legs out.

“Ugh oh.” Ez slid up beside me, taking my hand. “Something’s weighing on your mind. What’s wrong, Honey?”

Chapter 32

Well, hell fire. Course there was a reason he went all cold fish on me. Other than his distain for me.

“Did you truly think I disliked your touch, Honey?” He nipped my ear again, tugging me to his side afterwards. “Ready to go watch that movie?”

What movie? We’d not discussed that. Was this some other official Underworld thing I wasn’t aware of. What good had it done me to read that stupid, huge ass book if it didn’t tell me all I needed to know?

He led us back inside and into the pantry area before I blinked. Felt like, at least. Moment we were inside the small four-by-four square room with the door shut, he slammed me up against the wall.

His lips slammed over mine, drinking every waking breath from me until we had to part. We both took in a couple of gasping breaths as we leaned our foreheads against one another. The contact had did little to ease my distressed cock. In fact, made it a thousand times worse. From the looks of the front of his nice ass pants, his problem had only became worse.

Without thought, I gripped the button of his jeans, but his hand came up to stop me. He lifted my chin so I was looking him in the eyes.

“I’m not taking you in this dingy place, and if you touch me that’s going to happen. Promise you that, Sweetheart. I I need you to understand I was not shutting you down outside or now without cause, Honey.”

“Then why did you drag us in here if not to be alone with me?”

“To explain, because there are visitors coming.”

Visitors? “I know no one.”

“Not for you, but for us.”

“Moloch’s next test, I assume.”

“Why is he testing me?”

“This time it was you he tested, but me.”

“What?”

“He sent the Underworld Times and instead of knocking to start with, they sent their photographer to try and get some uncompromising shots.”

Ah . . . That’s why he stopped me. We’d not been visible unless someone had snuck onto the property. Maga told me once Ez and I became official and he moved here that the place would be beefed up, but until then there were ways people could get to him here. That’s why His Highness sent someone.

“He wants to catch you in a compromising way.”

“Unsure what he thought he’d achieve from such a stunt, but Maga and myself are always aware of what is taking place around us. I might have been totally lost in you,” he gave me a chaste kiss. “But I heard the leaves rustle and felt the eyes on me before the guy had a chance to raise his monorinic camera.”

“Thank you.”

“For what, Honey?”

“Not allowing me to be photographed in such a manner.”

Knew he was the Prince, but never considered what all that meant for him. Or me, when I joined his life. Guess I’d have to learn to watch and listen while I’m outside. Would Maga help me learn the stuff required to do so? Did I have time to learn them before I failed another test his Highness sent our way?

“I would never allow such to be done to you. Anyone who dares come near you will have the entire weight of the Underworld come down on top of them. We clear, Honey? You are not going to have to change because we are together.”

“You can’t say that.” I kissed his sexy nose. “But it’s nice that you’d try to protect me from stuff you can’t.”

“And why can’t I? I’m the Prince of the Underworld. If no one else can, then who?”

“Has your life not been filled with looker-loos and story seekers since you were born?”

Hated when his shoulder slumped and he groaned.

“See you get my drift.”

“I don’t want to lose you because of these bastards.” He nuzzled my neck, licking it all the way up to my earlobe, nipping. “Honey, please don’t let them take you from me.”

“Who said anything about me doing such?” I hugged him tighter. “I”m too stubborn to allow such foolishness, and that’s what your Highness done by sending someone here, to take away what belongs to me.”

“I belong to you?”

“Yes, is that not what the prophecy and our hormones tell us?”

“I want you to belong to me, because you want to. Not because of nature or prophecies.”

“I do belong to you.”

Wasn’t sure what I done, or said, but it felt as if something broke through my breast bone. I reached up to my chest only to have my hand shoot between a fiery colored ray of light. I followed its trajectory and found it came to rest right over Ez’s heart. He stared down at the light, smiling and licking his lips. My fingers traced the beam up to the point my hand rested over his chest.

“You are officially mine now.” Ez laid his hand over mine. “And I could be no more the prouder than to call you my Chosen One.”

A knock on the pantry door pulled a loud shout from Ez. “Not know.”

“Sorry, Prince Ez, but you have company that is becoming persistent.” Maga’s voice was clear and concise with what he required of us, but Ez jerked the door open, snarling at him.

Maga took a step back, bowing as he said, “Sorry, Sir. Was unaware of your combining.”

Combining? Oh shit. Maga was right. My words. He’d asked me and I agreed, sealing myself to him in that moment. I hadn’t meant to, not at this point and time, but I had.

Damn it.

Was there a reason for a damn it? I mean I was going to give myself to him, that had already been concluded, so what difference did it make if it was earlier than I planned?

None.

Would have liked to have done it somewhere nicer and more romantic than a food closest.

“I’ll buy you some time, Prince Ez.” Maga turned and all but ran out of the room.

Ez sealed us back behind the door, jerking me against him and slamming his lips over mine, gripping my ass cheeks so hard I’d have bruises. He pulled us together until our chest were flush against each other, then hefted me into his arms.

“Can’t take you now, Honey, not like I want. Definitely, not in here. Want you in an amazingly, soft bed where I can devour every inch of you. One that we will spend the rest of our lives building a life together. First, though, we have to take care of the intruders.”

Not an option to answer him. His mouth covered mine and my legs tightened around his waist as our cocks slid over one another. Whoever was here, had better be dealt with quick or I might kill them.

He patted my leg after giving me one more swift kiss. “Hope down, Honey. Let’s go handle these bastards and then you can show me to our room.”
