New Way to Find A Book

 Hi All,

I know I've been away for a long time, but I've been super busy with writing, family life (major family life), and started working towards my bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing. I am working on a book, but in the meantime, I've tried a new way to publish a book of mine. So here is a new link to buy my Marked Ones: David and Bryan.

Chapter 12

“Bobby, son look at me.” Simon knelt in front of Bobby, taking hold of his son’s face, forcing him to lock eyes with him. “You did great. You kept your cool. Find you a place to stay until you can buy you a better place.”

His eyes held the yellowish wolf tint to them, but it faded after Bobby took a couple more deep breaths. He sighed once then said, “I’ll go to a motel for the night.”

“Why not Tommy’s.”

“Alpha, I am trying to take it slow for him. He’s still young and I want to give him everything I would have wanted.”

“You know I have to call him.”

“I know, Alpha.”

Hated hearing him call me Alpha when he was my son and needed comfort from his father. I’d given it to him when I first came in, but all my guards had gone straight to take care of James. If any of them had stayed behind, I would have had to remain in Alpha mode. It sucked having to be Alpha when he needed and longed to be father. It always had, but he’d managed it. And Bobby understood the reason behind it, even if neither of them liked it.

Simon put the call on speaker soon as Tommy answered the phone. “Tommy, sorry to bother you so late.”

“It’s fine, Alpha. How can I help you?”

“I have you on speaker with Bobby.”

“What is wrong?”

“Calm down, baby. I’m fine.”

“Alpha?”

“He is. He had a visitor when he arrived home.”

Simon did not have to hear his son’s plea not to tell Tommy what state his visitor had been in. His eyes spoke the request loud and clear. They all but held a look Thomas would have given. Simon would have said he inherited the look from his father, if the two were blood related, but they weren’t. Still, there were times that Bobby gave looks that were so much like Thomas it was unreal. But if Thomas had came to find out someone had been naked in his bed, they’d been hell to pay. Tommy was a mild manner type of man, but Simon was sure such a fact would push him beyond his limit.

“Cal?”

“I’m fine, Stay. I promise.”

“No harm came to anyone.” Simon put the force of his alpha powers behind his statement to help ease Tommy and his wolf. “I’ve ordered him to go somewhere else for the night.”

“Honey, please come stay here.”

“I’m going to a motel for the night.”

“I want you to come here.”

“Baby, I want us to take it slow.”

Simon knew who would win soon as the back and forth began, but he let his son work his own relationship out. Him and Thomas had to go through their own little push and pulls, so would Bobby and Tommy. It was the entire point of stages of the relationship book.

“I know and I’m grateful. I have a whole backside that does not get used. Used it until you find a new place. Or . . . Two adults can sleep in the same bed without anything happening.”

Simon bit back a snort at that. It might happen for a night or two, but one or the other of them would end up breaking the word of that good hearted goal.

“Please, honey. Stay is going crazy.”

And Tommy stated the winning point.

“Tell Stay to calm down. Cal is all right and will see him soon. Bye, baby.”

“He can be persuasive.” Simon snorted when Bobby shot him a finger out of the line of sight of anyone. Two of the guards had returned with the third one coming in with James cuffed in front of him. “Take him to the jail for the night.” Once the guard had James outside, he motioned to the other guard that had driven over. “You will take Bobby over to Tommy Stake’s. Both of you go wait for us outside.” Once they were outside Simon pulled Bobby up and into a tight hug. “Now, my wolf will calm down. I done lost your dad. I can’t lose you. Not sure what game James is playing, but I do not like that it involves you.” He inhaled deeply and soaked in his son’s scent. “Go get the things you need and get to Tommy’s.”

Chapter 11

He’d been in the limo, staring at the darkened partition for half the drive home before he realized it. He shook the shock away and picked up the car phone, dialing Tommy. He picked up on the first ring, kind of hesitant when he spoke.

“It’s me, baby, I’m in Alpha Tate’s limo.”

“Don’t like when the Alpha calls.”

“Sorry, I spooked you.”

“It’s fine. Why are you in the limo?”

“On my way home.” How did you tell the man that you felt more for than you had anyone else that you had just become a millionaire. “What time do you work tomorrow?”

“Eight till two in the morning.”

“Want to go to the bank and bike shopping with me?” Could not think of anyone better to spend his day with.

“What time?”

Good question. What time would he have to be up to take care of getting a rental? Going around town required a transportation. Other than the bus. Especially if Tommy was going with him. Arranging for a rental to be at his place by nine meant he could be ready to pick Tommy up by ten. That sounded perfect. Not too early for him, since he had to work late.

“Then okay?”

“I’ll be ready.”

The car took the last turn before his driveway. “You locked in safe?”

“Yes, honey.”

“Good. Have sweet dreams.”

The limo pulled to a stop and the door opened. He climbed out and nodded to Alpha Tate’s driver. He loved his time when him and Simon was able to be family, but most of the time they fell into the roll of Alpha and pack member.

“Thanks.”

“Doing my job.” Calvin, Alpha Tate’s driver of twenty years, shut the door soon as he walked away from the car. “Have a good night, Sir.”

“You two.” Bobby tossed over his shoulder as he unlocked the door.

The sweetness or ripe tomatoes and fresh fire roasted corn flowed from the window Bobby left open in the kitchen. Only one person gave off such a scent that twisted his mind into a stat of turmoil. Not in a tormented manner, but one of chaos or fighting  against each other for something unclear to him. He’d been trying to figure it out since the first time they’d met, but it never became clear to him. It did keep him interested in the guy, and made their friendship feel even more important than any other he had. It was why he disliked his behavior since he met Tommy.

He pushed the door open soon as the limo backed out of the driveway, but James was not in the living room. James scent was strong. Meant he’d been there recently, or was still in the small trailer. The hum of the humidifier filled the hallway leading to the bedrooms and bathroom. The tiny laundry room that sat off to the side of the hallway held only my overrunning laundry. The bathroom door was shut, but one sniff told me that he had not been in there. Left the bedroom. The door was open and James’ scent wafted around him so strong it all but consumed him in a cocoon. Was sure he was in there, but there was no line of sight into the room until you rounded the small walkway into the room.

One step around the edge and and sight of the bed revealed a naked James spread wide legged across the bed, stroking hmiself.

“Hey there, Bobby. About time you came home.”

“James, listen get dressed and leave my trailer. I won’t inform Alpha Tate that you were here like this.”

“I’m not leaving till you give me one shot at us becoming an item.”

“James, we are,” or were, “friends. Go look in the relationship book. You will see mine and Tommy’s name. So . . . Like I said, get dressed and leave. I won’t tell the Alpha.” His fingers were flying across the keypad of his slider phone keypad, alerting the Alpha. “Fine lay there until the Alpha arrive. He can deal with you.”

“Bobby, everyone knows him and your dad were ates and he was the one that helped raised you. We all know you can live better than this.”

Bobby’s fist tightened as his toes curled and muscled tightened. Cal, his always ready to battle wolf, screamed for him to stand down. Remember Tommy and that Stay needed them. Bobby shook his head as he took in a couple of deep breaths before he walked out of his own bedroom, leaving behind the man who was supposed to be his friend. Once in the living room, he flopped onto the sofa, taking refuge in the squeak of the old springs. He’d just dropped his head back when Alpha Tate and three guard marched through the front door.

Chapter 11

“Bond.” Jackson slowly slid one of his hands behind his back and opened the door, climbing out, leaving me alone with an upset Master Preston. One I’d put into such state by making a suggest that I thought was best until I got to know him better. I mean, Master John told me to get to know him better and let him take care of me. I could not fully give myself to him until then. Definitely not turn myself into some kind of werewolf being without knowing what one was. From what I was seeing, I did not want to be one. Master Preston was aggressive at such a simple suggestion. Aggression did not make for great Masters. Why had Master John told me such a man could take care of me? Did he know the man had a temper?

Master Preston backed away, shaking his head as he braced his hands on his knees, breathing in deeply. “Sorry about that.” He looked into my eyes. “As you can tell, my wolf will not go for such. I have a huge house. You will have all the space you need to adjust to our town and our people. I promise to give you time and not push you into making any decision until you are ready to do so.”

Wasn’t’ so sure about that. He was not trusting me to stay with others, yet he done claimed me as his Boy. No one took on a Boy they did not trust.

“You do not trust me.”

“It is not about trust, Boy.”

“Then what is it about?”

“Our culture dictates that once we find our Mate that we claim them. If human, we make turn them and bring them into the fold. For me, as Alpha, that means I turn you in front of the pack, sealing our bond together for all our wolves to see before we go to officially mate.”

Yep. Caught none of that.

“Did Master John not explain what he was to you?”

“You knew about his Afterlife Scape ability?”

“Not his skill, but I knew he held magical abilities. I assumed you did. But you seem to be in total shock about my kind.”

“I am. I did not know about Master John until he showed up in my dreams while I was in the van.”

“What did he have to say?”

“Between us.” Was not about to tell him he gave me to him. Nope. Not until I was sure I was ready for him to be my Master.

“Fine.” He waved me to the door off to the side. “Come in and let me show you around.”

“I still would rather live somewhere on my own.”

“It is safer, for the entire pack and you, if you stay where Alpha and Alpha Wolf can watch over you.” Jackson snatched a bag from the back of the van, slamming the door. “See you later, Alpha.”

Master Preston waved by and then guided me to the side door, opening it, pushing me forward with his hand on the small of my back. I took in a deep breath, cursing my defeat at gaining my own place as I walked into a huge, shiny white kitchen. He led me through each room the same way, with his hand on the small of my back. Each room held about the same air to it. Or the ones he showed me. There were two he did not give me a glimpse of. All he said about them was later, when our relationship progressed. Each room held the theme of cleanness and whiteness that turned my stomach. There was no color or personality to it. Boring. Dull. Did not fit him. Not one bit.

“Did you just move in?”

“Been here, ten years.”

Lord. What had he been doing with his life?

“How long have you spent living here and not undercover?”

“About the first five years.”

Still long enough to put some life into the place.

“I can see you mind working. You do not like it. Do you, Boy?”

“No.”

“No, Sir. Respect me, Boy.”

“You are not my Master.”

“I will be. So treat me like it.”

In due time.

“I have left it blank for my mate to give it the final touch. And that is you, Boy.”

Hm. Nice idea. “What if you had not found me?”

“Then it would have sat here like this.”

“Boring and dull?”

“If that is how you see it.”

“You do not?”  I spread my hands open wide. “There is no color. No signs of life. No photos. Nothing personal. Nothing that shows you.”

“I am what my Mate needs me to be.”

“And if you had not found me, then you are nothing?”

“Alpha would have been it.”

Oh boy. Did not get this. Him. What was I supposed to do with that comment? My Master is what made me who I was. If he based his life off of me, then who was I supposed to base my life off of? Master John had failed me in placing me in Master Preston’s care. How did I get him to Afterlife Scape me again so I could tell him to give me to someone else?

Chapter 10

The road had turned bumpy some two miles back, forcing me to hold onto the bottom of the bench. Or so my mind told me. In reality, Master Preston, was the only way I could look at Special Agent Preston Clarkson now, had braced his arm across my chest to ensure I did not bounce around.

“Promise we are almost to my house, Boy.”

His house? He expected me to stay with him?

“It is unlikely that Julian knows anything about my true identity, but just in case, I want to keep you close by.”

“Like that’s the real reason.” Jackson muttered as he turned left and the road smoothed out. “Thank the heavens.”

My sentiments exactly. Yet . . . Did not grasp how there were paved, or whatever type of material made such even roads, in the middle of a forest like setting. Roughness understandable. Trees. Branches. Shrubs. Holes. Divots. Mounds of dirt. All of those are common among that area, but . . .

“Holy shit.”

“What it, Boy.”

“Where . . . How . . . There’s an entire . . .” One, two, three, four, five, six houses and asphalted roads that parted off into different directions. It was like a community setting. All that I did not see where stores and restaurants.

“We came into the back section of the homestead section.” Master Preston pointed off to his left. “Take that road there and you go to the main homestead. There’s about twenty homes there. This is our smallest homestead. There are three other homestead sections. Each have about fifteen homes.”

Twenty, fifteen, fifteen, and six that was fifty-six “Single or families?”

“Mixture.” Master Preston tossed his head towards Jackson. “He’s a single man who lives among the main homestead. One of about three single residents there. Most there are families. Homes are bigger.”

“Where do you live?”

“Right here.” Jackson pulled into a double paved parking lot and hit a garage button above his sun visor.

A white metal door lifted, fading away, revealing a black SUV with tinted windows and a Harley Davidson. Master Preston had some nice taste.

“I do not want to stay here. There is now ay in hell, Julian would think to look for me here. Not only am I all the way across the country, but we are literally in the middle of nowhere.”

“Not a choice, Boy.”

“From the sound of it, you have other places. If not, then let me stay with one of the other single men or women. That should not be a problem.”

Master Preston snarled as he pressed in on me. He was saying something, but fuck if I could understand him through his wolf shaped teeth and half wolf nozzle.

“Uh . . .” Jackson wore a huge smile, but had his hands lifted. “You belong to him. There is no way in hell, you will be allowed to be around another single werewolf until you and him have sealed your bond.”

“Sealed our what?”

Heart’s Desire Chapter 4

“Hopefully . . . Keeping my Heart’s Desire alive.”
“your . . . “
“Heart’s . . . .”
“. . . Desire.”
“What does he or she have to do with evidence bags?”
“Does mom know?”
Leave it to my brothers to cover all the basic questions. And the ones I have no answers to. Other than the obvious ones. Mom does not know. I had said Heart’s Desire. And I had no fucking idea what my Heart’s Desire had to do with evidence bags. Damn, the night had gone from hell in a hand basket to damnation fire in one breath.
“Think you need to start over, big brother.” Gray tugged the seat beside me out and sat down.
“You know I told you there’s been a Lycan scent at the last ten murder scenes?” all my brother’s nodded. “Tonight there was a message left.”
“What kind?” Travis took the seat beside Gray.
Cal dug through the baggies until he found the bag holding the plea. “This.” He passed it to Travis as the other gathered around to read over his shoulder.
“The scent is stronger on that note. Soon as I opened it . . .”
“You world lit anew.”
Flame, my pet brother couldn’t have describe it any better.
“He’s not sure if this note is a ploy or not.” Sal started organizing the other bags. “We’ve got here some scraps of papers, pens, and a . . . cloth.” He lifted the largest bag.
“Cloth?” Where had the grew found that? They’d been no mention of that before he left the scene. The crime lab had been pretty much wrapped up by the time he’d left. Or so, he’d thought. So, Savage led him to believe. “Don’t take it out.”
“Not stupid, brother.” Sal snapped. “Just want a better scent.
My entire body went onto high alert the moment the scent invaded my nose. My body stiffened. My cock sprang to life. My mouth watered. My eyes stung.
“Yep. It’s his Heart’s Desire.”
Cal looked up to see what Flame was going on about to find all his brothers waving their faces. He didn’t need to know how much pheromones he was putting off. Not only did they tell him by their actions, but his cock was hard enough to drive a nail home in one hit.
“You got any gloves?” Travis tilted the end of the bag up to his face. “There’s something on this, but . . .”
Cal got up and pulled out his evidence kit and handed his brothers a pair of gloves each. One by one they snapped them in place as Travis tugged the bag free. He lifted the end of the large piece of terry cloth up.
“This is blood.”
Blood?
“Hey.” Travis released it soon as Cal jerked it from him.
Cal had it up to his nose, sniffing. “Damn it.” It was his. My Heart’s Desire. He’d been hurt. Bleeding at least. Why? Had he done it himself? Had someone harmed him? Why? He had to know.
“Time to hunt, Alpha?”
Gray nailed it. We had more than a small scent to track down. We had a blood scent to go by. Time to track what belonged to him. To bring him home. If at all possible. If not . . . to jail. It would tear Cal’s heart in half to do so, but he’d do what had to be done.

Cal popped the cap on a bottle of soda and chugged half of it in one gulp. Not tasting it at all.
“Going to give yourself indigestion.”
“Shit.” He jumped, sloshing soda over his shirt. “Watch it, Gray.”
“Sorry, bro.”
“Jumpy, there, brother.”
One look behind Gray showed that all five of my brother’s had tagged along. Not that I hadn’t expected them to. I’d called all the beta in. There were eight in all. All from my family. My five brothers and three of my cousins. Out of the entire Oaks Family I was the only Alpha born this generation. There’d been four in my father’s generation and two the two before him. There hadn’t been a female Oak born since the first generation. Not even a Gamma or Omega had been born to the Oak Family.
“What’s happened?” Raymond rested his elbows on the bar, nailing me with his dead serious gray eyes. “You are wound tighter than mom’s knitting.”
Accurate description.
All six of them turned when red lights flashed, lightening up the kitchen.
“I’m going to kill him.”
“Who?” Gray peeked between the shade blades. “What’s Savage doing here?”
“Go tell him to kill the damn lights and to bring that shit in here. Quickly.” Cal made his way to his table and began stacking up the file folders he’d been reading over the night before. “Help me stack these up, Sal. Sat them on the back of the table.”
Together we had them stacked and out of the way before Savage and Gray had the evidence brought in.
“Alpha, Sir, the scenes been gone over with a fine tooth comb. It’s been bagged and tagged like you requested and all has been brought here. Only four other items held that scent, but this one,” he tapped the largest baggy, “was the prominent.”
“Thanks, Savage.” Cal snatched the clipboard from his hands and signed his signitured across the page. That way, once they captured the murdering bastard, if it wasn’t his Heart’s Desire, then he could slap their ass behind bars. “We’ve got this.”
“You don’t . . .”
“I don’t.” Cal pointed towards the doors.
Flame came up to Savage and took him by the arms, showing him to the backdoor. “He’ll call if he needs you.” The backdoor banged behind him. “Why was I so rude to the little bugger?”
“He doesn’t need to know what is going down here.”
“And what is that, Cal?” Tray’s rich timber sang through the air.

Calvin slid into the booth, latching his eyes onto the man who hovered above him. It’d been three weeks since the tall, muscle bound, god-like man had taken him from his home. I’d tried to free myself, but . . . he bore some kind of inner troll like persona. At first I thought it was a mask, but the one time I got him on his back I’d yanked at his hair, but all he did was scream and knock me across the room. Lesson learned. Man out powered me even when on the ground from a sneak attack.
“Do not move.”
I nodded.
“I’ll be watching and you do not want to make me out myself while I’m among all these humans. It would not be good for them, or you.”
Bet so. “Learned my lesson.”
“Good. Remain seated until I come back with food.”
Least he was giving me food as he drove us across country. From my recollection we’d driven half way across the states. I watched him as he walked up to the counter. Won’t like, standing up and running out the door, or screaming for help crossed my mind, two or three times, but each one I squashed. No sense in brining others into the mess that landed on my doorstep at four in the morning. Whatever that mess was.
“Here. Eat.”

Tuesday’s Opening Line

Hope all enjoyed the short story I free wrote for you over the last few weeks. It was fun to do so. I was going to give you another one, but I have Camp NaNo coming up and there will be lots of writing to get done during the month on the next book I hope to release this year. Since that’s the case, I’m going to revert back to doing some opening line post. One difference this time round. I’m not using any photos. They are simply based off a certain concept.
Tuesday's subject: Supernatural Creature
Opening Line:  A second look did nothing to erase the lifeless eyes staring up from the half-human, half horse.
