Chapter 28
“Admittedly . . . was at first. More so because you did not tell me. Jason had such a grand announcement. Saul kept him wrapped in his arms every moment they left the house and told anyone he was introduced to that he was his Heart Owner. By the end of their second day together, Saul had Jason planning this huge gathering for all their friends and family. Was over a thousand people thanks to his massive number of Vampire Children. It was the most beautiful, gold and silver streamers filled, gift welcoming party I’d ever been to. Or heard of.”
Javis could image so. Vampires took finding their Heart Owner as the most special event in their lives. Humans believed a wedding or birth topped everything, and it did to them, or should, but in Vampire Society . . .
“Saul gave his Heart Owner the proper welcome and most highest so of affection a Vampire can give one. Gold is how we show homage to the one we love, worship, devote ourselves to for life. Silver . . . as you know can harm us. Be deadly to us, so by surrounding ourselves by silver streamers we are telling our Heart Owner that we would accept pure silver into our bodies in exchange for his life.”
“Wow!” Enapay looped his arms around my waist as we made our way over to the the dining room table. “That is . . . beyond . . . sweet. I would say unnecessary, but it would be wrong for me to dismiss something so special to your kind, when I so openly scolded you for dismissing our way of life.”
Javis pulled out a chair, tugging Enapay onto his lap. It might have been forward of him, but since Enapay had been so hands on with him since his arrival, he wasn’t going to give him a chance to back away. He loved feeling his Heart Owner in his arms. Right against his skin. So close he could feel his chest rise an fall. Perfection.
Enapay leaned his head back against his shoulder, sighing. “To think my stubbornness and someone’s else’s twisted idea could have made me miss out on what my friend has. I might be against having to choose to become a vampire instead of taking my last breath like a normal human being, but all of the Vampiric way of life doesn’t discuss me.”
That was great to know. Meant there was more hope for him and Enapay than he dreamed of. Took a huge weight off of his shoulder. He could all but see the shadow of the burden that had weighed him down over the last few weeks float from his body and through the roof of his house.
The servent came in carrying two plates. He paused when he saw us in one chair.
“Sir?”
“Sit them both on this side.”
“Yes, Sir.”
Enapay brushed a light kiss to his neck and slid form his lap. “This smells amazing.”
“Only the best for you.” Javis tugged his chair as close as possible once he was seated. “You are not getting that far from me. Yet.”
