Chapter 11

He walked into his house and Mateo sat crossed legged on the sofa. He shot him a huge smile as he stood and waved him right down back out the door. He sighed, but turned and headed right back onto the porch and down it, rounding the corner, ensuring he avoided stepping in the huge mud puddle that always lurked on the path to the interrogation building that sat on his main home.

“When did he get here?”

“Two hours ago.” Mateo snorted. “He came quietly once he realized who sent me.”

Jaavis halted. “He did.”

“Swears he wants a face-to-face with you.”

“Could this all be a case of someone . . .”

“Don’t think he’s a threat to you, but he could be someone who wishes to spill some vileness your way. We’ve ran across a few of those before. None that’s gone this far, but . . .”

Possibility. He had reason to be pissed. His family hadn’t been able to partake in the law that would have made them a Vampire because of what took their lives. He’d survived to suffer through life without them and would have to become a Vampire and live without them as well. Sucked. Harsh as hell.

“Has he said anything since he arrived?”

Mateo shook his head. “Sat behind the table quietly. Didn’t even complain about being cuffed to it.”

Huh? Made no sense. This Enapay guy had him confused. Wrapped up in . . .

Oh man, what was that . . . Air stuck in his throat. His eyes closed, savoring the wonderful, most sensual, sweetest citrus he’d ever smelt. He loved any kind oranges, but he wasn’t sure if any he’d ever discovered smelled so . . . He sniffed the air, all but groaning as a electric current shot through his body right to his cock, thickening it so hard he all but doubled over. Fuck. What in the world? Nothing should have . . .

Heart Owner. Alexander had told him how intense the initial reaction to his Heart Owner had been. Damn it.

“Who else is in there with him?”

His words were tight and gritted, which had Mateo glancing his way.

“No one. Left Alexander watching from the other side of the mirror.”

“Alexander is here?”

“Yeah. He said you knew he was helping.”

Javis nodded. “Can you get him for me?”

“Sure, but don’t you want to . . .” He waved towards the door that kept his Heart Owners from him.

“Need Alexander. Please.”

“Sure, Sir.”
