Lucifer thrust in, hitting his lovers prostrate, drawing a howl from him. Werewolves were so vocal when it came to sex. It’s what drew him to them. After his first time with Howler he’d been hooked on the man. No one else compared to him and I made him mine for fifteen years. Last time I saw him was the day before the Thrashers Rebellion. Many good werewolves had fallen to the Witches who deemed themselves the Thrasher of the Supernatural World. Little did they know that all they did was shorten their lives when they attacked Howler’s compound.
“Baby,” a warm hand came to rest on my cheek, “where’d you go?”
Right. He was in the middle of his daily romp with a nameless face wolf. Since Howler died, he’d tried to replace the deep feelings he felt for the man, but no other werewolf fit the bill. Wasn’t for lack of trying. Werewolf after werewolf offered themselves up to him, just for a taste of Lucifer. More like they deemed him to be their protector, their safeguard from any other upcoming rebellion that came their way. Little did they know that the only reason he attacked the Thrashers was because he felt deeply for Howler. No one could replace him. That was for sure.
“Baby?”
“Don’t call me that.” Two more deep thrust had the nameless man exploding. Lucifer slapped the man’s hip and slid from his body. “Take a shower and leave.” Rude of me, but it was more of an offer than he normally gave whoever he brought home. He usually told them to leave, not bothering to offer them use of his shower.
“Don’t you . . .”
“You hear me. Shower. Leave.”
The man huffed as he sat up and slid from the unusually high bed that I’d placed in my room after the second time I took Howler to bed. That sexy as sin man stood seven-feet tall. Sex on a stick. One irreplaceable.
“Fine.”
He flopped back on the bed, looking down at his still hard cock. It had not had relief in so long. No one seemed to be able to give him what I needed. Would anyone else? Or was he doomed to walk around with a hard-on for the rest of his life.

Lamia’s . . . half serpent, half woman. A sea monster. What was the third strike against her? Oh, right. A she-demon who was expected to settle down and procreate, who desired the flesh of a woman, instead of a man. In her family’s eyes she was  a total failure, hence the reason they had dragged her in front of Lucifer to ensure their daughter did her family duty. Not like it would matter either way, she was the baby of the family. Her brother had the responsibility to carry on the family name. Her eldest sister had the responsibility to ensure her husband’s family name was carried on. She was the last child born. She had no responsibility, in her eyes. Her mom said her place among the family was no different than any other  sibling. She was to marry a respectful demon and give him a child, or three. Her mom and dad did not care that the idea of a man repulsed her.
“Hey, Diane.”
A sexy, squeaky voice had her spinning around. “What are you doing here?”
“Thought you had me summoned to support you.”
“No.” Shit. This was not good. No one was supposed to know about Teke.
“Diane,” her mother came to her side and glanced back at Teke. “It looks like your friend came to remind you to do your duty.”
What? Why would her mom . . . She tilted her head from side-to-side, taking in her mom’s dead-on stare at Teke.
“I knew that she would support us.”
Support them? There was no way Teke would do such. Teke and her had been more than best friends for the last six years. Everyone thought they shared an apartment, but they shared a room. A life. They were a family. One no one knew about thanks to her father.
“You had me summoned?”
“No, Teke. I did.” Lucifer had all three of them kneeling. “Stand. Come in. Let’s get this over with.”
Diane let her mom enter first, then stood back and waited for Teke to enter. Wasn’t the wisest move on her part, but she would not step on her woman’s toes and Teke was the dominate among their relationship.
“I like to see that.” Lucifer pointed at her and then the love seat. “Teke, join Diane. Mrs. Smarts take a seat in front of my desk.”
“Yes, My Lord.” Her mom bowed and took her seat. “I think you for - -“
“I did not meet with you for the reason you believe I did.” Lucifer came to stand in front of them. He gave them a dead-on stare that had Diane’s entire body shivering. “It has been a long time since we had a couple of your two caliber.”
What? She glanced over at Teke, finding the same shock on her face as she felt running through her. That might have been what kept her attention focused on Lucifer, but her mom gasped and sprang to her feet. Diane did not get to hear what all her mother was going to spout at her thanks to Lucifer and a snap of his finger.
“Sit. Remain there.”
“You two thought no one knew.”
Teke gave a small bow.
“Families can make situation intense.”
That they could.
“When Mrs. Smarts brought her complaint against me, I knew it was time I stepped in. there is now way that I would separate a set of true mates just to appease a mother and father’s desire. Not when there are other sibling to carrying on their family name.”
“Really?” Diane winced when Teke elbowed her. “Sorry, Sir. Sorry, Teke.”
“I have to admit, you two did keep it hidden until the last year. Even then, your family and friends did not catch onto the state of things between you. I believe it was time for the entire world to know what lay among them. Your type of mates are rare and a great value to our world.”
“How so, Sir?” Teke took hold of her hand, and pride rushed through Diane as no need to jerk her hand away from her lover came to life. She’d wanted for so long to let the entire world know about her feelings for Teke.
“Long story and one that only you two need to hear about.” Lucifer faced her mother. “As you can see, I will not be ordering your daughter to marry anyone, other than her true mate. No leave us be.”
Diane couldn’t believe the red faced woman who rushed from the room, muttering about it being unfair. That she would tolerate her daughter debasing their family in such a manner. Thankfully, it was not up to her. Lucifer had the last say and he stated his stance on the situation in front of him pretty clearly.

It was time. Second milestone in his life. First trip to the Earth Realm, where he would find his other half. The one who owned his soul. Would save his soul. He, or she, would have been born twenty-one years ago. The perfect age for them both to settle down.
“You ready?”
More than, but he knew better than to tell his father that. Not only was his father the ruler of their little demon den, but he was the next in line to take over for Satan when he decided to take a backseat to the running of Hell. Oh, the man would never quit being the Top Dog of the down under, but he had three sons that would begin to take on some of his duties. That was the entire reason that his dad despised him. He was the son that wasn’t supposed to be born. He was an accident with a human. Humans rarely carried a demon child to full term, but his mother had. She’d been so freaked when his father enlightened her to his true side that she shoved her son into his father’s arms and told him to take and raise him. His father had, but had never found it in himself to show him much love. Oh, he taught him the way of life for all demons, but made sure that his son knew he would never be given a share of the ruling responsibility if he found a human mate. No way around such, since he was half human. Halfling, could only find a mate among the human world, which was why he found himself standing in front of the entrance to Earth Realm.
“Remember you won’t find him, or her, on the first day. Just don’t give up. Keep moving around the city until you’ve met all those your age. Then and only then move onto the next area. We clear?”
“Yes, father.”
“Don’t bring them back here. You time among the Hell Realm is done and over with. This is the day you’ve waited for.”
It was, just not for the reason his father had. His father saw it as a way to be rid of the blemish among his life, but that wasn’t the case in his eyes. Far as he was concerned, it was time for him to move forward in his life. Start the part that allowed him to explore the other side of him while he located the owner of his soul.
“Then . . .” His father rested his hand against a shivering section of the air in front of him, “step through and good luck.”
He squared his shoulder and did as his father directed, looking back until the shimmering section faded to solid air.
