Been a long week. Boy had it. Time flew by, yet crept. Never in my life had I felt as bad as yesterday. Who knew a migraine could sideline you for an entire week. Not me. Not any of my kind. We did not get sick, unless . . .
Lack of magic. Meant being away from my magic for a year was starting to take a toll on me. Next I would be catching common colds. Never understood why my kind shortened their life expectancy if they stopped using their magic. I knew it would happen, but . . . part of me thought it was some kind of fairytale. Boy was I wrong. But it was worth it. For sure.
“Jonathan, you feeling better?” Ray stood in the middle of the doorway, refusing to cut the overhead light on.
“Come on in.” The sweet endearment hung on the tip of my tongue. Couldn’t say it though. He made it clear when he moved in two years ago that he did not tolerate magic. Wasn’t sure why, but I knew that moment that I would have to take care of my magical abilities somewhere else. A year ago Ray realized what I was doing each Saturday when I was supposedly going out on dates. As if I could have done that. From the second week Ray moved in, my eyes had been fixed on him. No one else came close to the warm-hearted, caring, giving, loving man. Not like he saw me as anything more than a very close friend and roommate. Still I would not disrespect my feelings for him. Nope. Couldn’t. Wouldn’t.
“Headache gone?”
“Yes.”
“Good.” Ray came into the room, taking a seat beside me on the bed, patting the top of the comforter that covered me. Warmth soaked in with each bit of contact. Soothed my heart and made the sideeffects of not using magic more than worth it. “I know why this came about.”
Shit. “What then?”
“Don’t play coy with me.” Ray sighed. “You stopped using your magic. For me. Didn’t you?”
Lying was another thing I could not do to Ray, so he got a small nod.
“Thought so. No one . . . not something . . .  Why?”
Silence was my answer.
“I’m just a roommate. Why stop living your life?”
Silence answered for me again.
“I know why. Not sure why I didn’t see it before now.” Another deep sigh. “Yes I do. I’ve kept you at arms length since I found out you bore magical powers. It wasn’t fair of me. Wrong of me to let my . . . history with magic to control you and my life for so long.”
Was I finally going to discover why he disliked magic? Hoped so.
Ray ran a hand over his face, groaning. “I do not want you to forgo your magic because my brother made my childhood hell.”
“How so?”
“He was the only one in my family who bore that talent. The rest of us were . . . just . . . normal. He never tested his skills on my parents, thankfully, but I wasn’t off limits while he was being taught his newfound powers.”
No wonder. Learning wasn’t meant to be taken out on others. It was supposed to be done in theory until you made it through all the materials. By then, you were taught what was good and bad usage of magic. I’d known some though my learning that practiced their skills, but most of them came from magical families. Had expectations to live up to. Like I did. Me not using mine had caused a huge stain on my family, or so my parents swore.
“I do not want you to stop your magic. You are not my brother and I . . . I . . . ca - - care too much for you to do that to you.”
“Care?”
“You know how I feel for you.”
“I don’t.”
“Then let me . . .” Ray’s lips were against mine before I could ask him to finish his thought.

Flash Fiction Part 6

“If you are not aware,” Clan Head Roberts walked in front of the line we formed. “The selection contains two parts. Magical Abilities.” One I can manupliate in my favor. “And . . . Physical Aspects.” What? Was he going to study our bodies? How? I will not get naked. “Each task is designed to test each of your abilities. I know more about each of you than even you know. Or admit to yourself.” He nailed me with a stern look. “I will be able to tell if you are not being honest with yourself or me.” He made his way over to the chair that Alex the Grand had sat in front of us. Might as well said me. Clan Head Roberts had placed me in the middle of the line. “We will start with Tex Granfall.”
Damn. Granfall was a very strong and powerful family among the magical world. He would make a great mate for Clan Head Roberts. There was no way Clan Head Roberts would chose someone with less power and fame than a Granfall. I was perfectly same.
“Come forward.”
Tex did as instructed, letting his hands fall to his side. “Sir.”
“Easy.” Clan Head Roberts lifted one of the wands from the table beside him. “I desire to see how well you can protect yourself.”
“This is not my wand, Sir.”
“Does that matter?”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Why?”
“Each of us have by now created a bond with our wand. It is the best way to protect ourselves. Using someone elses wand will weaken our talent.”
“In some cases.” Clan Head Roberts passed the wand to Alex the Grand. “Give this to him and begin.”
Damn. This wasn’t going to be good. I didn’t need to know what Tex said was against the grain. Any magical being should be able to quickly adapt to using any wand within their reach. In a battle you could not promise that your wand would be the closest one. Nope. If you are disarmed then you reach for the first weapon at your side. Any wand would do. Damn. Clan Head Roberts was looking for something specific in the one he chose. Not being the first gave me a bit of insight into how I needed to handles thing.
One by one, each guy came to face off with Alex the Grand. None disarmed him. They tried, but they held no true power behind the wand they were given. The results might have been totally different if they had been able to use the wand they grew up with, but . . . not the point of the test that Clan Head Roberts gave them.
“Quinn, your turn.” I walked up and took the wand from him. Let it hang at my side as I walked back to the taped X. “Face Alex.” I did as told and before I could even blink Alex threw a knock down spell. I could have escaped the simple attack, but I didn’t even lift my wand. Simply let it hit me and fell on my ass. “Quinn, you are way stronger than that. Now show me what you can do.”
“Sir, this is not my - -“
“Do not give me that. Do as instructed. Again, Alex.”
A streak of red scored the airwaves between me and Alex. Heat Searing spell. Would hurt like shit, but I had to make sure that Clan Head Roberts saw what I wanted him to. Since I’d been admonished for not lifting my wand, I cast a simple counter spell that I knew would not detour Alex The Grand’s spell. Once again, I was on my ass.
“I’m growing tired, Alex.”
“Not my fault, Sir.”
“You are playing with him. You know how much I hate that.”
“If you are sure, Sir.” Alex the Grand nodded at his leader and then sent a streak of electric current searing down the air between us. It hit me full force in the chest. Before I could get back to my feet I was hit with another one, except this one put me a couple of feet back. Not sure what angered me the most. Being attacked and letting it happen, or my rash reaction to defend myself from Alex the Grand’s suspend spell. Soon as I saw the complicated swirl of his wand I knew what I had to do. My wand was in the air and copyied his motion, sending my own streak of green haze his way. It nailed him, sending him into a ridged stance for a second before he landed on his back.
“Great job.” Clan Head Roberts snapped his finger and my spell was undone. Alex the Grand stood, wiping off his shirt as he snarled at me.
“Lucky shot.”
“Afraid not, Alex.”
“Was, Sir.”
“Then shall we try it again?”
“Yes.”
“No.”
“Ah . . . I knew you were trying to hide what you are. I knew if Alex kept on goading you with one spell after another that you would get fed-up and show your true power. It takes someone with major skills to counter a spell before it is even cast. Join the others.”
Damn. I’d done the one thing I did not want to. Crap. I was in major trouble.
Clan Head Roberts stood and walked a line in front of us again, stopping at each of us. There was no questions asked. No task placed in front of us. He simply stood there and stared at our heads. When he got to me, he winked and walked past me.
“You skipped him, Sir.” Tex replied.
“I know him all ready.”
“You have never seen me.”
“That is where you are wrong.” Clan Head Robert moved to stand in front of the last guy. “I’ve watched over you since the day you was born.”

The meal was consumed with conversation. Not mine. Nope. I kept my mouth shut and head down. I ate all the veggies, but left the nasty fried food. Not going to poison my body for someone else. One of the things I could control while I was going through this degrading selection.
“Is there something wrong with the chicken?”
Another attempt at Clan Head Roberts getting me to talking. Wasn’t going to happen. Nope.
“If it is not done . . . I can have them fix you some more.”
“Clan Head Roberts,” Tex spoke from the end of the table. “I do not think there is anything wrong with the chicken.”
“Your might be fine.” Clan Head Roberts sighed. “Quinn . . . Is there something wrong?”
Damn it. He made it a question. No way to avoid talking. Then again . . . nope. Alex the Grand was ready to jump.
“It is fine.”
“Then why are you not eating it?”
“I am full.”
“You only ate your veggies.”
“So.”
“Watch it.” Alex the Grand took a step towards me, only to be stopped by a lifted hand from Clan Head Roberts. “Sir?”
“I asked him. Let him answer as he sees fit.”
“He is disrespectful, Sir.”
“I am the one who decides that. Not you.”
“Yes, Sir. Sorry, Sir.”
“Quinn, would you like me to fix you something else?”
“No, Sir.”
“You do not have to address me so formally.”
Right. Alex the Grand was here to make sure none of us stepped a toe out of line. I was all ready pushing the limits. Not eating what was put in front of me. Refusing to speak to the Clan Head. Sharp tone when I did. Yeah, Alex the Grand wanted to stick a knife through my chest. Didn’t need him to tell me that. Nope. it was written in his eyes as plan as the desire was written in Clan Head Roberts’s chocolate covered eyes. Alex the Grand did not think I was fit to be chosen. I agreed. Wished Clan Head Roberts thought that way. Nope. His mindset was on the complete opposite end of mine and Alex the Grand. How did I change that? Make a complete fool out of myself? Disrespect Clan Head Roberts to the point that Alex the Grand was ordered to teach me a lesson. Then again . . . if I went too far then Clan head Roberts might give Alex the Grand the order to eliminate me. Not something I wanted. Nope. I simply wanted to go back a couple of hours and never read the summons. Never have heard Shamus contact his father. Never heard him take the head of the Irish Mob. I simply wanted my typical, boring, love filled life back.
“If you are done . . .” Crap when had Clan Head moved behind my chair? “The allow me to get your chair for you.”
“I can get it.”
I went to scoot my chair back, but Clan Head Roberts took control of tugging me from under the table and held his hand out to me. I shook my head and stood, walking around him.
“Time to get things started.” Clan Head Roberts waved towards the end of the dining room. “Join the others and I’ll get this selection ceremony going.”

Where they right? Had they been chosen because of me? Magic forbid. All I wanted was to get back to Shamus. If that was even an option. Most likely wasn’t. He was the head of the Irish Mob. He would be expected to take on all the roles that go along with that. It would change him. For life. How could it not? He would have to live up to the reputation that his family has built over the past two generations, including have a child. Like him, I could not stand the idea that he had to be with anyone else. Nope. Shamus and I was . . . over. Not only because he would have to be with a woman, but because he would have to turn his soul over to his position. He would have to commit crimes. Mabye even murder. Such actions would destroy Shamus. Make him into someone . . . make him into his father and grandfather. Not people Shamus honored or cared much for. Oh, he loved his family, but disliked their way of life. It was why he refused to take his father’s spot. Refused to step into the throne like position. Nope. And he’d given his life for mine when . . . it didn’t work. Wouldn’t have worked from the get go. Nope. Shamus threw his life away and there was nothing I could do about it.
“Gentleman.” Clan Head Roberts glided in, pausing beside his chair, giving each guy a nod, but me. I got a huge smile and a gentle tilt of the head. Crap. The other guys had been so right. I was doomed. I would never get to see Shamus again, even from a distance. “Alex,” Clan Head Roberts motioned to the table. “Have them serve our meal.”
“Yes, Clan Head Roberts.”
Alex the Grand did some kind of marching step and spun on his heels, before exiting the room. What was up with the man? He was supposed to be a killer. A major boogie man, but . . . He gave the same air as Shamus. Strong. Stubborn. Determined. Demanded people listened to him. Do as he said. All the great . . . Crap. He remined me of Shamus because Shamus had always been ready to step into his father’s spot, even if he longed for a life far away from the mob world. Crap. Shamus might have thought he would be able to outrun the long reach of his father’s arms, but . . . there’d been no way. Something would have drawn him in at some point. Least it wasn’t a death that drug him into the life he despised. Just a . . . love.
“I hope . . .”
Clan Head Roberts’ voice vibrated through the dining hall, but it seemed to circle around me. Warmed me. Soothed me. Why? Was he . . He was.
“Stop that.” Shit. What in the world?
“Adams.” Alex the Grand snatched the back of my shirt and jerked me out of my seat. “Respect your Clan Head.”
“Alex,” Clan Head Roberts smiled at me, making my stomach plumment. “I believe I deserved his outburst.”
Boy did he. He was trying to manupliate my emotions. I might not be an active member among the Clans, but I knew my magic. New it well. Could cast it when I needed to. Most thought me useless, but that was only what I wanted them to see.
“You are better than people have eluded to.”
Damn. Gave myself away. Play it smart. Not let your emotions run wild. I scolded myself. If I had any chance of coming out of this not under the thumbs of Clan Head Roberts I had to  be the me I showed people. Not the true me. It was the only thing that would get me through this.
“I knew you would be.” Clan Head Robert winked at me then retook his seat. “Let him be.”
I shrugged my shoulder, straightening my shirt back in place as I sat down. “I am nothing.”
“As you wish to tell yourself.”
It was. Not that I would tell him that. Didn’t need to give him a reason to continue down his line of thinking. Wanted Clan Head Roberts to see how weak and unstable my magic was. Not that I can handle myself with the best of them. Not even Shamus knew that. Wasn’t what I wanted others to know. If they did . . . I’d end up like Shamus. In a life that I despised.
“Let’s enjoy this wonderful smelling food.”
I leaned back as the servant sat a huge plate of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans with a side salad. Healthy food. Sort of. Could have been broiled instead of fried, but I didn’t cook it. Didn’t mean I had to eat it.

The rich brown paneling did little to make the grandious dining room . . . okay, more like a dining hall, comfortable. The air among the room was filled with hushed whispers. I didn’t care what the other five spoke about. What I cared about was finding out who each was. Which one would be chosen. I hoped if I spoke to them that I would discover more about what Clan Head was looking for.
“He’s here.” A soft tone male came up to my side and wrapped an arm around me. “We was wondering where the fifth guy was. How come you came so late?”
I glanced at him and stepped out of his reach. “My business.”
“It’s our now. You’ve been summoned just like the rest of us.”
He had me there, but that did not make me these . . . crap. Where was the women? Head Clan had chosen five men. Why? I mean it was his right to chose from all the people under him, but . . . why would he limit himself to only men. Surely the man wanted children. Men sure coulnd’t give him that.
“Did I . . .” A lanky brown haired man came to stand in front of me. “See Head Clan Roberts show you to the dining hall?”
Okay. Four other men. All looked . . . like me. They had my slender jaw line. My brown eyes. My thin lips. My height. My weight. But at the same time they were totally different. Not one of them stood up tall. Not one of them held animosity about being summoned. Nope. They wore huge, goofy smiles that showed off white teeth that sparkled. Ick. What was going on?
“Why do you think he chose you?” A third man came up to stand beside the one in front of me.
“Don’t know.”
“Course you do.”
“Whatever.”
“He doesn’t know.” The fourth man huffed. “I bet he doesn’t even know when or where he first saw Clan Head Roberts. Do you?”
“Why you say that?” the guy who’d wrapped his arm around my shoulder asked.
“His look. He was measuring us up. Wasn’t you?”
“Then he thinks he’s going to be the one chosen.”
“No he doesn’t.” the fourth guy said. “he fears being chosen. He has a life that he wishes to get back to. Can’t you tell?”
What did I do to give off that vibe? Whatever it was, I hoped Clan Head Roberts picked up on it.
“He might as well forget that.” The third guy huffed. “He will be chosen. He was chosen before the invites went out. It’s why us four looks so much like him.”
“Right.” I snorted. “I looked like you guys. Not the other way around.”
“You are right, Tex.” The second said shook his head and spun around, marching away. “How’d you know it was him?”
“He’s the only one that Clan Head Roberts showed to the room.”
“Ah . . .” The third guy’s face fell flat. “You are right, Tex.”
“Not to mention Clan Head Roberts had hold of his hand and he wore this love-sick look. It’s him. He is the reason we were summoned her.”
“You are wrong.”
“Then explain why he brought you here himself.”
I quickly recapped what Shamus had done. Or part of it. There was no reason for them to know that Shamus involved his father. That Shamus would be taking over the Irish Mob. Nope. Not their business.
“Gentleman,” A rough voice had all of us looking left, taking in the one man that the entire Witch World feared. Alex The Grand. “Take a seat. Clan Head Roberts will be here in a minute. You must be seated and waiting for him.”
One by one we took our seats. I was going to sit as far away from the head of the table as possible, but before I could get to the last chair, Alex The Grand took hold of my arm.
“Quinn Adams, your seat is right here.” He marched me to the first seat right of the head of the table.
“Told you.” Tex muttered soon as Alex The Grand left the room.
Damn. This wasn’t good. How had this happened? Why? I kept my wand down. Did the least I could to be involved in the Coven. Why was that backfiring on me? Was that why it backfired on me? Crap. All I wanted was to be back at my house, cuddled up with Shamus.
“Gentleman.” Clan Head Roberts came in, smiling from ear to ear. “I appreciate you joining me, let’s eat before we start the selection process.”

Crazy day didn’t fit. Life upside down didn’t fit. Nothing could described the early spring day. It started out like any other day. I got up. Got dressed. Ate my granola bar. Fed the dog and left for work. Sat down behind my desk to work on the story I was editing. Like with most authors the story was written well and there were little mistakes to be marked. Loved those kind of authors, because it made my job easy and enjoyable. Allowed me to get lost in the content and the life of the characters. Not the best aspect for an editor, but hey, when a writer knew how to draw someone into a new world there was no other option but to go along for the ride. I had gotten so far into the character’s life that I lost track of time and didn’t even realize anything major was going on around me until someone yelled my name.
“Jay! Jay! Get your ass up.”
I glanced around to find pandomium around me. My coworkers was grabbing everything they could from their desk and rushing towards the emergency exit. When Kyle ran past me and snagged my arm, tugging me down the small one person aisle I caught the hint of smoke.
“What’s on fire?”
“Does it matter?”
Kyle kicked open the emergency exit and we were welcomed with a hoard of people screaming and slamming into one another as they scuttled back up the stairs. Kyle spun me around and shoved me back into our office area.
“There’s another stairway on the other side.”
Ripples of dark gray clouds flowed through the emergency exit doorway as the people who had tried to escape returned. Screams. Shouts for clarification of where they should go next. Consumed the office. People coughed and gaged, but Kyle kept shoving me down the aisle. I forced myself to come up to his side, taking a second to glance up at him. His face was red and his cheeks were wet with water. He wasn’t crying, or he might have been. It didn’t matter either way to me. What did was getting him to safety.
“Damn it.” Kyle glanced around the room. “There is no other way out of here.”
There was, but it mean exposing myself, which equaled harsh punishment.
“Do you know of any other way to get out of here?” Kyle pressed his face against the window, sighing. “Why are there no . . .”
We were twenty floors up and both stairways was consumed with smoke. There was only one way for us to get out of this alive. Me. Damn it. What was going to happen to me? What would Kyle think? How would I explain myself?
“Jay,” Kyle tugged me into his arms, pressing me closer than he had ever done before. He’d never done so in front of anyone. Not even our best friends. No one knew we had been dating for over two years. No one knew we longed to have an open relationship. We would have if Kyle’s family would not disown him. Not even I wanted to piss off Kyle’s family. They were well known for termination the ones who messed with them. Even if it was family. Kyle being the next in line to run the Lawson Empire would not have mattered. All his family would have seen was a disgraceful act of betrayal. Kyle’s life had been planned out for him since he was born. His marriage had been carefully picked from other large empires among the US. Kyle and me knew that our time together would be short lived since he had to marry some woman when he turned twenty-five.
“Least I won’t have to marry Leslie.” Kyle rubbed his chin across my head.
Wish that was true. I would not let Kyle die. I loved him. I could save him. “I can get us out of here.” I whispered against his chest.
“There is no way out, love.”
“There is.”
“Where? Will it allow us all to get out of here?”
I wish I could, but my talent was still growing and my magic was thin. My spell would be strong enough to transport the two of us, but . . . as much as I wished I could rescue all the people we worked with. I couldn’t, but I could and would save Kyle.
“You trust me?”
“You know I do.”
“Then hang onto me tight and close your eyes.” I wrapped my arm around him, crossing my arms and leaving my palms up. “Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, I pull on your wonderful skills to aid me in returning home.”
“What . . “
Kyle’s words fade away as the air around us swirled until it wrapped us into a blanket of safety. The area around us grayed out and then lightened until we stood in my living room.
“You okay?” I ran my hands up Kyle’s back, leaning back enough I could stare up at him.
His face was white as a sheet, but the tip of his ears was red, telling me all I need to know. He was pissed at me. I would not only be in trouble for using my magic in front of him, but he was not pleased with how I saved us.
“What did you do?”
“Does it matter?”
“Yes.”
“I got us to safety.”
“How?”
“Does it matter?”
“Yes.” Kyle took two huge steps back from me. “Why did you not help the others? So many people were in there. We knew them all.”
“I could not.”
“You got us out of there.”
“My . . . I couldn’t. I’m sorry. I wanted to, but you - -“
“I am not more important than anyone else.”
“You are to me.” I reached out behind me, balancing myself against the back of my sofa. “You are to your family.”
“How did you get us out of there?”
“I can’t tell you.”
“Why not?”
“You would not believed me.”
“I would.”
“I still can’t tell you. Not without permission.”
“From who?”
“People over me.”
“You let no one rule you.” Kyle sighed and walked over to the recliner that sat halfway across the room. “You never have. Fuss at me for letting my family run my life.”
Couldn’t argue with that. I sure gave Kyle hell about how his family controlled him. Told him what to do. When to move. What would happen. Still, I could not explain to him. If he would accepted me completely I could have gained permission to do so, but . . . I knew from the get-go that Kyle would never be mine.
“I’m waiting.”
“I’m sorry, Kyle, but I can’t explain. You have to follow your family law and I have to follow the ones over me.” I knew it would not be acceptable to Kyle, but there was nothing I could do about it.
“That is not acceptable to me.” Kyle stood and kicked his legs out, crossing them.
“Don’t’ go all boss on me.”
I hated when Kyle fell into his future roll of you do as I say or hell will reign down on you. I was not one of his father’s cronies and he knew how I felt about him treating me in such a disrespectful manner. I had saved his life because I love him and I knew he loved me, even if he could not chose to spend his entire life with me.
Before he could respond to me the room filled with ten navy blue robed people. I fell to my knees and bowed my head. I knew I had to face the music, but I had not expected them to enter in such a flamboyant manner. It wasn’t their normal style. Kyle’s reaction was typical though. He had jumped up and vaulted over the sofa, blocking anyone from me.
“Elders, it is - -“
“Hush.”
Elder Robert floated in front of Kyle and touched his head. Kyle crumpled forward, but instead of landing in the floor, he floated over to the sofa and was lowered onto it.
“Thank you, Elder Robert.”
“You know you crime?”
“Yes, Sir.”
“You know your punishment.”
I did. I knew it when I did it. I had forfeited my time among the human world. I would be forced to return to the coven and live under the thumb of others. I would be nothing to the ones who had lived there for their entire life. No one would take notice of me. Far as they would be concerned I was simply a disgrace among the coven. Those who chose to live among the human world and was sent back to the coven as punishment was nothing. No one. Just a strain on a coven.
“Was it worth it?”
“I would do it again, and again.”
“Why?”
“I love him.”
“Why not make him yours?”
“He has other obligations.”
“He will not choose you then.”
Words stung, but were pure truth. I could not speak it. Every time I thought it, someone stabbed a knife through my heart. Saying the words would only break me more than knowing I would neve be able to marry Kyle.
“He will not remember you.” Elder Robert snapped his finger and Kyle faded away. I knew he was not harmed. He had simply been sent home. He would not remember me, the fire, or anything related to our love. His life would simply be void of a few memories. I on the other hand would always know what I had lost. “It is time to go.”

It was finally time. I couldn’t believe it. Tonight Michael would learn my biggest secret. The only one I kept from him. I had never outright and lied to him, but avoidance can be viewed as lying. He just hoped Michael understood why he done so. Wasn’t like I wanted to, but I had to have permission from my Coven leader to mate him before I could inform him of my Witch ability. Not like I wanted to be a witch. My coven pretty much disowned me, which was another reason I had to wait a year and half to gain permission from Coven Leader Adams. He swore if I could not participate in the most basic meeting then I had no reason to rush into a mating. Ass jerk.
“Uh ho.” Michael shut the door behind him and leaned against it, letting his long body draw my full attention. “I know that look. What happened?”
Crap. Not how he’d wanted to start the night off. “Just thinking very hard.” Too hard if he picked up on my mood. “Come one, I’ve got a nice meal laid out and a night of fun planned.” I hoped fun was how they ended the night. It would devastate me if Michael rejected me. Shit. I should have participated in my cover a pit more than I had. If my own lack of ability to be part of a group of witches meant I couldn’t have my mate then I’d . . . there was no telling what I might do.
“Come on, sweetheart.” Michael slipped his arm around me and kissed my cheek. “Keep those deep thoughts at bay, or I will tickle you until they run screaming.”
“No. please don’t.” I gave my usual response to Michael’s attempt to brighten my mood. Man didn’t realize that one look at him and my entire world lit up light a Christmas Tree.
“Seriously, do we eat, or talk first.”
“Talk.” If I ate first I might just lose my nerve and I would not do that. “Let’s sit down at the table then I’ll explain what’s on my mind.”
