Hi all,
Just a small note before you read away. Since I'm still playing catch up from being sick and my dad is still in the hospital I'm only able to do one chapter this week. I hope to be able to do two again next week. I do apologize.

Chapter 18
Rex had not even got in
the living room before his biological father had sprung to his feet and
demanded to know what had happened to him. Mr. Chamberland did not miss a beat.
He quickly told him that he’d been having a hard time adjusting to living among
the pack and gotten into several fights over the last couple of weeks. The
bruises were the results of him going up against people stronger than him. Rex
could tell by the lifted eyebrow that came him way that his newfound father,
Aspen, did not buy the story.
“How about,” Aspen came
to stand in front of Rex, “we go out for a nice supper?”
Rex knew he should ask
Mr. Chamberland permission, but he wasn’t about to do so. “That sounds nice.”
“I think not.” Mr.
Chamberland’s sharp tone spoke volumes, but Rex shoved the unspoken threat
aside and let Aspen handle Mr. Chamberland.
“I think so.” Aspen took
hold of Rex’s arm and spun him towards the living room door and down the
hallway.
Rex’s other arm was
grabbed from behind and he was jerked to a stop. Aspen had not other option but
to stop, but when he spun around his finger were lifted and pointed at Mr.
Chamberland. Mr. Chamberland stumbled back, dropping my arm and pressing his
hand to his chest, growling.
“What did you do?”
“Do not dare manhandle my
son again.” Aspen opened the door and motioned Rex to go through.
“Do not leave this
house.”
There was all the force
of an alpha order behind the spoken words, but like always his command flew
right over Rex and his wolf. His wolf snarled at the attempt to control him,
but did not react outwardly.
“You know what will
happen if you leave this house.”
“What does that mean?”
Aspen looked at Mr. Chamberland, but Rex knew the questions was directed at
him.
Not that he could answer
him. Mr. Chamberland would tear into him for double, or triple the amount of
time that he would for leaving the house if he did. Not that it would matter to
Rex if he spent another week in the dungeon or cage, but he knew that Mr. Chamberland
was not threatening him with that. Nope. He was threatening to forgo letting
the latest couple leave for a new pack. That Rex could not let happen. Left him
with one option. Not the one he wanted to do, but the only one for him to do.
“Aspen,” Rex faced him,
hoping he gave him the best smile he could, “I’m afraid that we will have to
visit here.”
“Do you not want to go
out to supper?”
“I would rather stay
here.”
“That did not answer my
question.”
“It is the best answer I
can give you.”
Rex knew Aspen did not
like the response he gave, but it was the best he would get. Rex could not
openly admit to what he was doing. Mr. Chamberland knew it, but he did not want
the pack members who had not caught onto the little ploy that the bottom of the
pack was playing with him to catch on. And there were quite a few who had not
figured out what Rex was up to. Some would cheer him on. Other would condemn
his actions. Some might even attack him. That Rex did not need.
“Fine.” Aspen made his
way back to the living room. “Tonight we will visit here, but I will not stand
for our time being censored.” The comment was not direct at him, and Rex knew
that Mr. Chamberland understood what Aspen meant.
