Chapter 19 Part 2
“Now, now. You can’t be
going and hurting my alpha.” The sexy almond shaped eyes said. “You just sit
there and be a nice wolf.”
Rex ready for his wolf to
attack, but his wolf sat back and tilted his head to the left then the right,
before he lowered himself to his belly.
What in the . . .
Mate. Mate. Mate.
It was all that kept
bouncing around inside Rex’s mind. Not that he needed to hear it more than
once. Even that many times. He’d gathered as much when his wolf had not
attacked. His actions had been strange for him and his wolf, but not something he
hadn’t heard of. Several of the pack members he’d been able to speak to,
including Larry, told him how that when they ran across their mate and realized
they were the less dominate of the two their wolf had wanted to obey the other
without question. Not a complication Rex expected to come his way. Or one that
Larry had warned him of. Larry told him, multiple times, that there were very few
wolves stronger than him. Larry wasn’t quite right. Out of the five newcomers
in the room, three of them held more power than his wolf. The other two were
equal to him. Looked as if the information Larry gave him was outdate. Or Larry
hadn’t been around many other wolves. Not a shocking thought.
“Alpha Widows,” Mr.
Chamberland came up beside the tallest guy, “what is going on?”
“Fabin,” the tallest guy
sighed and released the almond shaped eyes arm. “Am I to believe you and him
are . . .”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Well that changes things
greatly.”
“Excuse me?” Mr. Chamberland
snapped his fingers and his two goons came up to his side. “Take the wolf to
the cage and cover it.”
Rex’s wolf remained vigilant
and would have gone with them, but before they could made a move towards him Fabin
had blocked the path to him and the other three guys that stood near the tallest
dude came to his side.
“Tell your men to stand down.”
Mr. Chamberland snapped.
“I’m afraid I can not do
such.”
Alpha Widows response earned
him a lifted eyebrow and crossed arms.
“If you wish to challenge
me, then do so, but as of know that wolf belongs to us.”
Belongs to them? What in
the world? Rex belonged to no one. His wolf did not either. That was the last
straw for Rex, so he shoved himself through the wolf’s mind and shifted into
his human form. He took a second to regain his equilibrium before he spoke.
“I belong to myself.”
Fabin glanced over his
shoulder and winked.
“Watch yourself.” Mr.
Chamberland command washed over me like everything the man said.
“If you, or anyone else,
wishes to speak with me then all they have to do is ask me.”
“I said, watch it. You
best remember your place among the pack.”
“And just what is his
place.” Alpha Widows asked as he leaned towards me, sniffing. “He is ten times stronger
than you. He would be among my top ten.”
Wow. Rex wanted to ask
more about his pack, but he was not quite sure what was going on and until he
had a better grasp of that, he’d keep his questions to himself.
“That is no concern of
yours.” Mr. Chamberland. “Just tell your men to step aside so my guys can take
the welp away.”
“That will not happen.”
The soft-spoken order
pulled a deep snarl from Mr. Chamberland as he spun and leapt towards the
newcomer, only to slam into an invisible wall that sent him flying backwards
until he slammed into the cross he loved to string people up to.
Rex wasn’t sure who the
man that resembled him was, but what was clear was that he had enough power to
send every wolf in the room to their knees, including him.
