Chapter 24
Rex woke rested. Something he’d not felt
in months. Not since he arrived at his mom’s hometown. His head still throbbed,
but nowhere near as hard as his heart ached. So much had taken place since the
start of the summer. He’d been in the North Carolina Mountains for almost three
months and taken he didn’t know how many beatings to keep werewolves his inner
wolf through they were supposed to lead some much required aid. That was all
behind him. What lay ahead of him . . . Rex had no clue. What he did know was
that Aspen had brought him breakfast and told him that Fabin and Alpha Widow
was coming over in an hour. Surge of adreline rushed over him, but his body was
frozen in place. He did not know what it meant to be a mate. Other than how his
wolf had told him it was their only choice to give up the one chosen for them
by fate in order for him to have the life he desired. There’d been so much confusion
going on through him during that time. Part of him then feared he made the
wrong choice in doing as Larry requested, but if fate had been kind enough to
provide him with another mate . . . maybe he’d did the right thing.
Rex had came downstairs and joined Aspen
in the living room a few moments before the front door opened and Alpha Widows
appeared in the doorway.
“I’ve brought my little lost wolf with me,
old friend.”
Rex did not see anyone with him, but the
huge Alpha muscle bound alpha filled the doorway.
“Do you have a son in here that might be
able to calm his nervousness a bit?”
Aspen glanced over at him, but all Rex could
do was hold his breath. He’d been as jittery as hell since everything went down
last night. He wasn’t sure if it was due to him being parted from his newly
found mate, or all the other shit that took place. Combination of both, more
likely.
“I think,” Aspen patted him on the leg and
stood, waving towards the only other exit in the room. “we’d be best in the
Kitchen, having some coffee while these two do . . .” Aspen waved his hands. “Whatever.”
Alpha Widows followed Aspen out, leaving
behind the tall, drink of water that had declared that Rex belonged to the Calvary
Pack. That might have pissed Rex off, but his wolf side felt it to be true, but
part of Rex didn’t agree.
“How did you rest?” Fabin leaned against the
door.
“Come take a seat.” Rex wasn’t sure why,
but he patted the spot beside him. “Best sleep I’ve had in quite a while.” He
watched as Fabin walked around the coffee table and sat down beside him. The
weight balance was so off between them that he tilted towards him, falling
against the man’s side. Strong arms came up, bracing him against a solid chest.
Warm air floated across his ear as Fabin
brushed his lips against his. Rex’s entire body heated and his arms was up and
around Fabin’s neck before he knew what he was doing. Next thing he knew the
two of them were lip locked while holding each other.
Rough hands slid up his lower back he let
his hands slid around the thickness of Fabin’s abs. His cock throbbed faster
than a jackhammer, which had to the be the only reason Rex ended up straddling Fabin’s
lap while lip locked with him.
