Chapter 49
“Good afternoon, newlyweds.” Tony waved towards the coffee table full of takeout boxes. “I bought lunch for everyone.”
“Thanks, Uncle.”
Bobby waited until Tommy had taken a seat on the sofa and began opened boxes. “Why did you wake us for that call?”
Most would not have been so direct with Tony Stake, Don of the biggest Mob of the United States of America. Those he thinks looked at him wrong end up on the wrong end of someone’s fist, or worse. Bobby was sure that wasn’t his true nature. Since he’d met him, saw him interact with Tommy and Daddy Simon, he understood the man. The core of his heart was good and solid. He just made people see what they needed to to keep his position.
“He called from the Shay Hotel in town.”
“What!” David hadn’t said anything about them coming back.
“We called David. He knew nothing about them being here.” Tony sat on the arm of the recliner that Daddy Simon sat in. “He said see if you wanted to talk. Then ended the call with he was on his way over to see what was going on.”
“Here? Or there?”
“There. I assume.” Tony shook his head. “He wasn’t too pleased. He growled something else before he hung up, but I could not understand it.”
Bobby sighed when Tommy leaned his head on his shoulder. “Only thing we can do know is get my, baby fed.” He nodded at the open box that Tommy had vacated to soothe me. “He needs his strength for tonight.”
“I made a salad.” Daddy Simon made to get up, but Tony shook his head. “What? I did. I hate salad that is boxed.”
“I know, but one of us will go and get it if someone wants it. I do not, do you.” Tony looked at him and Bobby got up.
“I’ll get it. I love Daddy Simon’s salads.” He patted Tommy’s shoulder. “I’ll be right back, baby. If you want to, go ahead and start eating.”

Bobby froze in the doorway to the kitchen and threw his head back and shouted for Tony as he stared down the waist high, gray body wolf with muddy legs. The wolf back up as he hissed. Hissed? Didn’t do that much. Guess his protective side brought out more of his Vampire side than he expected.
What was the wolf doing? Each step he took took him towards the V of the wall. He’d be putting himself in a corner. One side would be blocked by a tall wooden, antique china cabinet. The other side had the glass sliding door. He could bust through it, but something inside Bobby told him he would not do so. After all, the wolf wasn’t acting right. No wolf would put themselves in such a position. They were smarter than that.
“What is - -“
“Get the guards around Tommy right now.” Bobby snapped as Tony came up behind him.
Bobby kept advancing on the wolf, knowing that Tony would protect his mate while he dealt with the invader.
“Now . . . Wolf, change and tell me who you are and what you want.” He put so much force behind the words that no wolf, besides an Alpha should ignore him.
The wolf howled and stood there, staring at his mouth. Not his mouth. His fangs. They were out. Hung over his lips. He’d tasted his own blood when they extended so fast. From lack of use of them, he wasn’t used to them.
“Fine . . .” Bobby held his hands up. “I’ll put them away and you will change.” With ease Bobby retracted his fangs, all but shivering at the tingle it left behind. He might have if the wolf had not growled.
He knew what was coming his way before it happened, which was why he was already in motion when the wolf jumped at him. His preempt motion made it easier to push the invader through the open back door and into the yard. No sense in fighting in the kitchen.
