Too Many Ideas

This post goes out to all writers, or any kind of creative thinker.

Can you have too many ideas in your head at once? I

I took a headache that lasted for three days and did not fade until I wrote the layout for two more series. There were at least ten book ideas that came from my mind. As much as the pain nagged me, I kept pushing forward on logging the ideas. As each one hit the paper, my mind eased a notch. So, did I have too many ideas?

Don’t think so. I think too many can cause me pain and discomfort, but there is a way to rid those side-effects. Jot them down for a later point.

Demon of the Week – Yangantytan

Yangantytan is described as a demon from Brittany. Yangantytan wanders the street of Finistere holding five candles in hand, one on each finger. He spins them like a wheel, being very caution when he turns corners, avoiding distinguishing them.

Mythical Creature of the Week – Mahisha

Mahisha is a buffalo-headed demon that was defeat by Hindu warrior goddess Durga. Mahisha threatened the Cosmic Order, stomping across the three worlds, polluting the Earth and Sea. Durga came into creation to defeat Mahisha, but in his arrogance he sent her a marriage proposal. Mihisah replied with the comment she would only marry the one who defeated her in battle. Course, a battle began.

Mental Body

During discussions of Witchcraft you hear a lot about relaxing and going outside your body, but what does that mean exactly. According to the occult philosophy of the mental body is that it the individual is on the mental plane or level of abstract consciousness. It is part of the self that allows awareness of meaning. It is an outside space and time, making it the lowest part of the self that survives physical death.

Book of Interest - Amaranthine Chronicles

Today you are in for a treat. I am hosting Tiffany Shand during her Amaranthine Chronicles Blog Tour.

It is a three-book urban fantasy series. The series includes Betrayed by Blood, Dar Revenge, The Final Battle. Take time to read the blurbs for each book and then go and get your copy.

Betrayed By Blood Blurb
In a city of lies and deception, only one thing stands between chaos and justice. For centuries, a band of outlaws called the Amaranthine has kept the peace in Ormere and hidden in plain sight whilst the Order of Sorcerers spreads their deadly magic among the city’s inhabitants.
After losing her fiancĂ© in bust gone wrong, Amaranthine Agent Kaylan Avilion returns home to discover that Elijah didn’t die but instead was changed by the twisted guards of the Order, who seek to find a dangerous artefact tied to Kaylan’s past and the murder of her family. When her sister goes missing and a foe from their past remerges, Kaylan knows she must save Freya before she’s poisoned by the very people who took Elijah away from her. But how will Kaylan react when she learns Elijah’s secret and can they come together to stop the Order’s plan in time?

Blurb for Dark Revenge
Darkness is sweeping through the city of Ormere as unnatural creatures stalk through the streets. People are dying and time is running out as a new evil threatens to take control of everything. The Amaranthine Order has been decimated leaving only a few of its people left to fight the coming terror.
Stunned by her sister Freya’s betrayal and plot to take over the city, Kaylan must do everything she can to find out what Freya plans to do when she finds an infamous book linked to the murder of their family. A book considered so dangerous that the last High Lord erased its location from history, the Amaranthine Chronicles are said to contain the darkest of all magics.
Kaylan is happy to finally have her ex-fiancĂ©, Elijah, back in her life but he’s not the man she once knew and loved. After being turned into a shapeshifter, Elijah struggles to control his inner beast and his lingering feelings for Kaylan.
Can Elijah and Kaylan come together to stop Freya and uncover the secrets of the book before it’s too late?

Blurb for The Final Battle
Darkness has claimed the city of Ormere and death has become a certainty for anyone stalking its empty streets. The government is in ruins and lawlessness ensues.
After their last encounter, Kaylan and Elijah barely managed to thwart her sister, Freya’s, latest attempts to find and use the elusive Amaranthine Chronicles. But in her desperation to receive ultimate power, Freya will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Even if it means destroying the last of her family.
Kaylan and Elijah must work on their fragile relationship and put their personal feelings aside to find the book and stop Freya before it’s too late. But with their allies growing thin, and a gang of ruthless shapeshifters close on their trail, will they finally find the book and stop Freya before time runs out? And will Kaylan have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save her city and the man she loves?

Demon of the Week: Dagwanoenyent

The uniqueness of the name caught my eye. Not to mention I could not pronounce it. For some reason that always intrigues me. Have to admit, the little fact I found about this demon brought up a bunch of other intriguing areas I will be checking into at some point in the future. For now, take a look at the fact I found out about her.

“Iroquois mythology, Dagwanoenyent was the daughter of the Wind who often took the form of a whirlwind. The Seneca Tribe considered her a dangerous witch who could not be killed.

Mythical Creature of the Day – Seelie Court

Scottish folklore tells of a blessed or holy group of Fairies. Seelie Court, a community of helpful and beneficent Fairies. They are known for coming out at twilight in a long, solemn procession. They are known for exchanging gifts and favors with the humans, in-return for the help of the human. Some will even gifts of corn and bread for those who honor them.

In some books where the Seelie Court are spoken of we see differences, but those come from imagination and other mythology and culture.

I’ve never really did much research on the Seelie Court, but I have to admit from what I read about them in my Mythical Creatures Bible by Brenda Rosen, I’m going to do a bit more digging.

Witchcraft Day

Ceremonial Magic has many symbols, but Lamen, a breastplate worn on the chest supported by a ribbon, collar, or cord around the neck is the one I will be discussing today.

In Cabalistic Traditions it is used to represent the forces of Tiphareth, the central unifying Sephirah of the Tree of Life. The Abramelin system used the term differently. To them, it is a silver plate on which the Holy Guardian angel writes in letters formed of dew.

I know there are a lot of terms that many will not know in this post, but each one can be researched. My main point of this post was to show how one aspect can represent different things. These facts came from: The New Encyclopedia of the Occult by John Michael Greer, page 266. There is a black and white photo on this page as well. I could not find a photo similar to it, so I did not add one.

Where have they gone? Will they come back?

As a writer words make up my life. I express myself in the basics ways with them. What do I do if words fail me.?

Question I hope to never endure again, but know I will. There are always going to be times when words will not do a situation or object justice. As a writer, that is the most annoying thing in the world. For me at least, because it brings my entire world to a stop. Not really, but it seems like it, because it makes me flounder around like a headless person trying to escape the depths of a tavern full of deep cliffs.

When this faces me, I’m always asking what am I to do. I try things that have worked in the past, but there is no promise on what will bring the words back into line for me. Or if anything can. So, what do I do, you ask.

I wait and see what happens next and pray I am led in the right direction by the next set of words that comes to mind.

Deumus - Demon of the Day

Have you ever seen a woman wear a crown, that has four horns and four hooked strong teeth in her mouth. If you so, then you’ve seen Deumus, a devil adored under the name of Deumus. This demon is said to hold souls between her claws so she can devour them at her will.

Mythical Creature Post

Today as I was looking over the choices from my little book, I noticed a section titled, Creatures from films and literature. There were three sub-section: Superheroes, Comic Book Heroes, and Monsters.

I for one do not view Superheroes or Comic Book Heroes as mythical. Yes, they are extraordinary people with unnatural abilities, but I personally do not view them as anything other than a hero. Monsters, well I believe that there is a difference between monsters and mythical creatures. Many of those mythical creatures are hard on the eyes, and have some nasty habits, and are described as monsters, but to fall into a category of Monsters, I do not see that. To me they are what they are, Mythical Creatures from a folklore of a specific region.

So, my question for the day is:
Do Superheroes or Comic Book Heroes fall under the realm of Mythical Creatures?

Herbalism

The witches we read about and see in the movies are always casting spells. Have we taken time to notice what they use along with their words?

Some uses the compass directions. Others use drops of blood, depending on the spell they are casting. But have we ever paid attention to how much a witch uses herbs in their life? We all know there are lots of herbs used for home remedies, so why would they be any less important to a Witch. If we stop and think back, years and years ago, they used herbs to treat the sick. Just like some of us still believe that the best trick for a burn in aloe-vera. Just like some of us still rely on our cross neck to keep away the devil.

So, next time we dig around on the internet looking for a home remedy for a migraine or other aches and pains that are plaguing us and modern medication seems to fail to stop, think about this little bit of information. You never know, you might find yourself seeking out a herbalist among the Witches.

Author Ramble

Each year writers/publishes (self and mainstream) setup their tentative schedule of what they’d like to accomplish during the coming year. (I do at least) Still, it is a tentative schedule and change in a blink of an eye. When it comes right down to it, us writers/publishers have to go the way our work goes. We may have one idea in mind at the end of the previous year and halfway through the new year your entire mind shifts directions. Then again, it might be like mine this year. Changed from the second day of the new year. It’s like they say, plans aren’t written in stone. No matter how much someone likes to stick to a pre-set schedule. (Like me.)

Jikininki

We all know there are many kinds of Zombies, flesh eating monsters, and even the monsters who prefer the dead. portrayed in movies and stories. Course this means they originated from someone among our vast world. This week I’m sharing a demon that came from the Japanese.
