End of the Year

Predictable post for the last one of the week, but what can I say, I’m still tired and running around like a chicken. So, I thought I’d make this one kind of short and sweet. A prospective list of what is coming from me next year.

My goal is to put out 2 novels next year. One will be the fifth book in the Human-Skinned Wolves Series. The other will either be a start to a new series, or a book about bear shifters. Not sure exactly which yet. Never know how a writer’s mind will go, which is why this is a prospective list.

Everyone have a great New Years. Remember be safe while you enjoy yourselves.

Bast

Bast an Egyption goddess of pleasure. Of course, she is represented by a cat. There was little information I could find about this Demon, but little is better than none.

Cat Familiar

Familiar can be any kind of animal, but most common is the cat. One thing you must know is that familiars chose their witch. Per the site, I learned that cats require space of its own, and high quality food.

This fact makes me wonder just what type of cat food is considered high quality. Does anyone have an idea?

Ramble Day

Wasn’t sure what to choose for a topic today, so you get to hear a bit of a ramble about unusual sounds.

Unusual sounds? How in the world does that relate to the supernatural/paranormal world? It can if you let your imagination soar. Take this for example:

A loud thump fills the air, but there is only you home. You get up and check all the rooms and there is no one trying to get into your place. You check the dishes you had stashed in the drainer, but they are all in place. The thump comes again. The lack of evidence of a source has you shivering and asking ‘what is that?’ You do a second trip through the house, but come up short when a white mist fills the hallway between your bathroom door and the bedroom door. You go to take a step back, but find yourself frozen in fear.

What had you heard?

What was you seeing?

I’d love to hear your answers.

Demon - Leviathan

There are many descriptions of what the Leviathan looks like. A few of them can be found here: http://www.lizaphoenix.com/encyclopedia/leviathan.shtml. These different description made it difficult to pin down a solid photo to share, so I chose one that I liked best out of the options that I was given on google.

Mythical Creature – Sun Wukong

You can find photos and facts about this creature here: http://hero.wikia.com/wiki/Sun_Wukong

Why did I chose this one? Well . . .  First off, the image caught my attention then the fact that he is a Monkey King whose main weapon is a staff drew my interest even more. More I read the more enthralled I became with his magical abilities.

Inspirational Photos

After finding out about different classification of ghost I found myself looking at ghost photos, so that’s my inspirational photo for the week.

Demon of the Day – Incubus

Have to admit when I ran across the description of an incubus being a male night demon who consorts with women while they slept I was a bit confused. More like I’d watched the movie The Covenant one to many times. In the movie, they mention incubus, but they never defined it, so I made assumptions. Wrong ones according to the website I found this information on.

According to, http://www.lizaphoenix.com/encyclopedia/incubus.shtml, an can reproduce whele they are invading a woman’s sleep with their dreams. Spooky to think that anyone could conceive a child from having a nightmare. Gives me the shivevrs.

Did you know . . .

There are many classifications of ghost.

I guess some small part of my mind knew this. How could it not. We’ve all seen the different photos of ghost and saw how these ghost hunter shows and medium people speak with or track down a ghost. I’m sure on some of those shows they’ve mentioned it, but the fact never stuck out in my mind. Not until the other day during some reading I was doing. (Okay, don’t ask why I was reading about ghost. I started out reading about monsters, but ghost was included in the book.)

Of course, this fact had me digging further into the topic. Man, how I can get off onto some strange research that has little or nothing to do with why I was researching in the first place. Anyway, the mere fact of ghost being classified intrigued me, so that’s why it is today’s Fact of the Day.

Mythical Creature of the Day – Crocotta

Crocotta is a combination of a wolf and dog with strong teeth and an uncanny skills of luring using a human voice. It draws both humans and dogs, which allows the Crocotta to devour them.

This tiny bit of information came from:
The Mythical Creatures Bible by Brenda Rosen

After reading this I found several photos that were meant to represent the creature, but many held various version of the name, mainly spelling differences. I wasn’t sure if they were the same or not, but the photo I chose to share fit the description the best in my opinion.

Wicca Altar

During my research into Wicca I found many sights and books full of information, but the one topic that always interested me the most was the Altar that a Wicca follower setup. I never really grasped why there were so many different acceptable ways to set up an altar, until I gave it a bit more thought. It’s like with Christianity. There are many different dominations to follow. They each have their own set of rules and laws. Therefore, it is not illogical for a Wicca follower to follow a different concept of how to set up their personal altar.

The site, http://blessedbe.sugarbane.com/altar.htm gives two great examples of different methods to set up an altar. Take a look at the site and explore them both, letting me know which one intrigues you the most.

I have to agree with the blog writer’s choice. I like the idea of the Elements and their directional pull. How about you?

Go to book.

Today I have a questions for you. What is your favorite book and why?

Have to say it’s hard for me to choose just one, but I have a book I go back to over and over and read. It’s more of a short story, prequel sort of book, but I do not every think I will tire of reading it.

Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs. You can find it in the anthology named On the Prowl.

Supernatural Fact of the Day

Did you know that South America is known to have a jaguar shape spirit that seeks and kills murders named Kanima.

I find this neat. Most of the time you hear of the animal shifters harm or are demon possessed, but this one seems to do a kind of service to the world by taking out the bad guys. Neat.

What draws you to the Paranormal/Supernatural World?

Have you ever thought of what drew you to the paranormal/supernatural aspect? Was it the mere mention of something being unheard of? Did you truly believe there were people out there that could cast spells? Could shift into wolves? That had two souls, one animal one human? Was it pure fact of it being a possibility? Or was it simply something that gave you a way to let your imagination run wild.

I’ve asked myself these questions for years, but I have never nailed down an exact reason. Sure, I love to get a book that allows my imagination to conjure up a man, or woman, who has two souls or shares a soul with a wild animal. Then again, when it comes to the ghost and witches, there are aspects I believe about them. (No, I’m not crazy. Well . . . Some may say I am, but I do not think I am. No more than anyone else that is. I think we all bare a little bit of craziness from time to time. It’s how we show our creativity.) Pure fact is, we do not know what secrets are truly hidden among our world. We see what we see and the rest can be hidden from us. No, I’m not saying there is shifters, werewolves, or anything else lurking among us, but . . . Do we really know what all hides among us?

Demon Day - Lamashtu

There are female demons, which shocked me for some reason, so I found this site that gave me a list of names. (http://www.demonicpedia.com/demons/list-of-female-demon-names/)

There were several, but the one that I liked the best was Lamashtu, a goddess of seven witches in one. She is associated with death of unborns and newborns.

I tried to find an image, but what I found was more information from http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Lamashtu. There was some images, one of which was the rune of Lamashtu. I had no clue there was a demon rune associated with this demon. Neat. Here’s the image of the rune.

There was also loads of different names this demon went by. I suggest if this interest you to visit the site and find out more. http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Lamashtu

Fact of the Day

Did you know . . .

Therianthropy is a mythical ability of someone shifting into other animals. Drawings found at Les Trois Freres, in France show ancient beliefs in the idea. Of course, we all know the most common example of one. Especially, if you follow my books.

Did you know . . .

The term Therianthropy came from the Greek therion, meaning “wild animal” and Anthropos means human being.

Mythical Creature Day – Huldra

Huldra is associate with Scandinavian, Norwegian, Swedish, Sami (Lapplanders) and German folklore. Huldran is a wood nymph and described to look like a beautiful woman with long hair, but she has a cow’s tail and a hollowed out back. Some of the myths speaks of her luring men into the woods and keeping them until they agree to marry her. Some of the folklores state that once married in a church in God’s name she gains the strength of ten. The mere description of her peeked my curiosity and I found myself spending almost an hour flipping through images of Huldras. I finally narrowed it down to one to share with you.

Witchcraft Day - Runes

Runes. What do you think of when you hear this? Do you think magic? Think stones? I always thought of stones. Once again, I wasn’t up to date on the terminology. Runes can be stones, but they are more than that. They are also a letter of the ancient Germanic Alphabet.  None of those are what drew me to the term. I heard someone, not sure where (most likely on television), mention they have special magical powers. It intrigued me into reaching into the little bit of me that likes to research for knew knowledge. With a little digging I found out a bunch of interesting facts. After looking at many, many sites I found this one the most intriguing. http://www.psychicsuniverse.com/articles/spirituality/psychic-abilities/what-are-runes-their-history

Here is what I learned.

Runes are tools used for divination. They open a psychic awareness. There are 24 tiles (stones) containing carving of characters. (This is where the alphabet came into play. Not only that, but before the stones were used for divination they were used to communicate.) Runes can be used to gain messages and spiritual insight. A lesser known aspect is using them as an alternative method for conversing with your Higher Self and the Universe.

There are loads more of information on the website and to find that I looked through many other sites. I hope your interest were peeked enough you might do a bit of exploring on your own.

Inspirational Thought

I believe we each strive to accomplish many things among our life time, but what kind of mindset does it take to achieve these desires of ours. Many things. But in my opinion, the biggest is to have a thought that inspires you. Drives you to push forward through the obstacles that life is bound to give you. These thoughts don’t have to be some big and popular saying, simply something that motivates you.

One of Mine is: Anything is Possible.

So what is yours. I’d love to hear some of them. Post them if you’d like.

Fact of the Day

Did you know that Spiders can be considered Mythical Creatures?

There are some eight legged giants living deep within the Earth. These spiders, the youngest, weave webs of imprisonment around artifacts of man. These can be easily broken, but can install powerful images of ages past.

Find more about these interesting (yet disgusting to me) creatures here:

Chaos Magic

NOTE
None of the fact listed in here pertains to my personal beliefs. They are simply facts I found during research. I have listed the source at the bottom of the post.

Chaos Magic was a movement born in the last quarter of the twentieth century, sometimes spelled Xaos Magic. Chaos Magic owes its origins to a work of science fiction, the Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. A trilogy with a dizzying mixture of satire, put-on, pop culture, and occultism. This trilogy attacks all conceivable belief systems, presented a theory of magic that centered on sex and drew heavily on the wirings of the previously obscure Discordian movement, who worshiped the goddess of chaos.
Throughout time there have been many publications in the Chaos Magic field. Each seemed to combine others types of magic and became foundations for different Chaos Magic organization.
This short bit of information is only a short bit of what I found during my research. I hope you find it interesting enough to dig further into the concept of Chaos Magic. If so, I truly suggest you check out my main resource:
The New Encyclopedia of the Occult
By John Michael Greer
(this bit of information came from page 97)

There are many more sources of information about this topic. Some may follow this path, others may not. I’ve listed a few sources I looked into, but didn’t use during my research.

Demons

People all over the world have their opinion on what Demons are. Concept of Demons goes back from the start of the world. Each era, each section of the world, each religion has their own perceptions of what Demons are and are capable of doing.

So, what can and can’t they do. Is it a guess? I would say so if you are looking for physical proof. Then again . . .

As a writer, I create creatures and build their skills into what my mind sees them as. This is the fun part for me. I can take a demon like Abigar a demon who can foretell the future and give military advice. (This information came from: http://www.demonicpedia.com/demon-quick-list/) and turn him into a militant that breaths fire, giving a fortune with each blaze he releases. From there it is all up to my mind to find out what my new demon form can do. I could make this demon a good one or a bad one.

Good one you say. Yes. A paranormal/supernatural book can have the opposite of what most people view. So, instead of a demon forming military advice to assist himself, he gives fortunes that helps the good guys.

(Ah, the joys of writing.)

Did you know . . .

Today’s Fact is about Werewolves. Did you know . . .

Ancient Greek mythology tells of Lycaon, a man transformed into a wolf after eating human flesh

I knew there was a Ancient Greek myth about Lycaon, but I never knew it involved eating of human flesh. That’s an aspect I’ve never heard of before. (Shocking. We truly can learn new things each day.)

Book Cover Thoughts

I'm unusual as a reader. Book covers don't draw me to a book. I will admit if it is a bright and attractive book it might catch my eye and I go to check out the content, but it does not have one ounce of reason as to why I chose a book.

I'l like to propose two question to you guys today. What draws you to buy a book? Cover? Blurb? First page? Or what.

As a Paranormal reader do you enjoy seeing the type of animal or ghost that the story is about on the cover?

Let me know.

Book Review – Alpha and Omega

This is an older book, but one that I truly love. Patricia Briggs is an amazing writer. Anyone who has ever read one of her books knows this. It is hard for me to choose which book of hers I like best, but if I had to say which character caught my attention the most it would be Anna from Alpha and Omega, a short story included in the On The Prowl book.

Anna suffered greatly, but she survived and it made her a stronger person. Her Alpha, in this book, might have tried to beat her into submission, but she never caved to him. She took his and the other wolves abuse. When she had seen enough of his monstrous way towards others, she reached out for help from the someone she never met, Low and behold it turned into the best choice she ever made.
Anna’s strength and courage is what created my desire to read the book multiple times and read the rest of the books in the Alpha and Omega Series. The world created by Patricia Briggs enhanced the attraction to the characters. Patricia Briggs is a master at keeping your attention and allowing your mind to see every scene unfold in your head.

If you have nor read this book I recommend it to anyone who loves to lose themselves in a wonderful story.

Warlord vs. Witches

(Is there a difference)

Is there a difference between Witches and Warlords?

Good question. Most of the stories I read have them as two different type of people. I’m not sure how my mind would interrupt this if I was creating a story. Right off hand, I’d have to say the only difference I can think of is that one is male and one is female. Generally, I do not separate a species by sex, but as a writer I go where the story leads.

From a reader’s point I have to say the books I read with both tend to be a bit more sex separated than I like, but they were well written and entertaining so I read them. Guess when it comes right down to it, this questions is more of a personal choice. Still, I’d love to hear what you guys think.

Favorite Aspects Vampires

What is your favorite aspects about the vampires you’ve read about or seen on TV?

Several come to my mind.

-         Fast speed.
-          Shifting into mist.
-          Night vision
-          Soul mates
-          Night life only
-          Flying

Let me know what you love about vampires.

Story Concept. Keep or Ditch

Today I wanted some advice from you guys. I have a story concept that I’d like to run across you and see what you think about it. Be honest and tell me to keep or ditch it.

Story Concept:

There are seven demons, who are the son of the Devil. Each son is assigned a realm of hell, which has a prelaid out plan of life. The Devil expects his sons to continue the long time way of life in each realm, but the devil felled to take in the possibility of his sons falling in love with a human. His son’s decision to peruse these women pisses the Devil off, more than he always is, and he swears to eliminate the women his sons have chosen.

Thoughts on Witches

There are a lot of aspects that I love about witches. Not the funny hats or long pointed nose. Those are Halloween costumes. I find the hardcore aspects of what witches truly are. If you read books based around them then you would have seen some differences, like with any book. How could there not be. Each book must be unique in some small manner. One concept I find interesting is the elemental use to cast spells.

There’s one main difference in this area. Some stories go by there being four elements, wind, fire, earth, and water, and those are related to North, South, East, and West. I’m not sure which way Wicca considers, but from a writer’s perspective this is the most common. Now, me on the other hand, I base most of my witch paranormal romances around five elements. Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, and Spirit. I still use the directional aspect in one of my books, but spirit is the middle location for me. To me Spirit is the core of all magical spell. Now, this is not to say that in future stories I might stray from this concept, but this is my personal belief about Witches and the elemental concept.

Which way do you prefer it as a reader, or writer?

Shifter Thoughts

Shifters
What exactly is a Shifter? Some people classify anything that changes forms as a shifter. Then there are those who view werewolves as separate from others that shift into animals. A few even consider something or someone who can change into any form or shape one.
Those thoughts above make me think it depends on who you ask. Or from a writer’s perspective the story being written. Who knows if shifters or any of the supernatural begins we dream up is or has ever been true. What I do know is that for an amazing story to be built around a shifter theme the author has to create a plausible and interesting world and backstory for the story they are telling.
None of which is easy, but very doable. In order to accomplish it, a solid definition of the word Shifter has to be formed. After all, that is the base of the entire story. If it is not nailed down, then the story will easily fall apart. To avoid this when I start a new story that includes werewolves, shifters, vampires or any other supernatural being, I sit down and describe how they came to exist, any strengths, weakness, skills and anything else that comes to mind. Those ideas give me a solid foundation before I start to write.
There’s my thoughts on Shifters and how I develop the concept of a Shifter. Hope the small insights into my creative process helps you understand me a bit better.
Have a great week and remember,
Let your imagination soar when you read or write.

Coming Into Your Wolf

In the Human-Skinned Wolf Series you read about the Age of Consumption. It is where a fifteen year old boy joins with the wolf lurking under his skin. It is a confusing short period of time. I wanted to create an image that might represent such an important even.

Sneak Peak

My creativity was flowing like crazy the other day and the idea of the cover for the fifth book of the Human-Skinned Wolves Series came to me. It's not going to be ready for release until some time next year, but I thought it would be great to give people an extremely early sneak peak of what is to come.

Insight Into the Wolves of the Human-Skinned Wolves Series

As we all know, the legends behind the werewolves are subjected from one area to another. Just as much as each writer's inner workings of the werewolf world they create. This is why I thought that it would be nice to give people an insight into the wolves of the Human-Skinned Wolves Series by Julia Matthews. The fourth book of the series, Hidden Wolf is available for pre-sale on Kindle and will be releasing on Dec. 21, 2016.

Mythical Creature Posts

I’m a person who loves Unicorns and dragons. They take me into a realm of fantasy, yet to me they fit into the world of the supernatural/paranormal, because they are strong and hold a purpose that makes me want to gather up my courage and strength to strive to make myself a better person.

In honor of that, I plan on making a post a week about a different Mythical Creature. Each post will include a site or two where you can find more in-depth details about the mythic aspect behind the creature.

Enjoy your day.

Shifter Desire

Have a questions for you guys today. Don’t worry I’m going to give you my answer as well.

What animal would you like to shift into?

Tough question I know it. For me at least. I’m not sure the best way to answer the question, because I believe it depends on the frame of mind I’m in. Most days, I think I would chose a leader of the wolf pack. Other words, I’d let the wolf take control and let it barrel through all the task I have for the day. On a rough and hard day, I’d chose a something large and strong, like a bear. Let the inner bear in me give me courage to keep pushing forward. On those down and out days, I’d have to say I want to shift into a Bald Headed Eagle and soar away from all the stress weighing me down.

Ramble

Okay, I’ve been hard at work with lots of different things lately and I’ve not had a chance to read much. Major thing for someone who use to read anywhere from 3-5 books per week. (1 or 2 may have been short stories.) Still, it the last month I’ve read a total of one novel, Christine Feehan’s Dark Carousel and a short story by a new author to me, Shifter Forever Protection by Elle Thorne. A wonderful paranormal romance story about a bear shifter. Have to say, I’ll be going back to read more from her. If things slow down in my life.

Anyone else read anything good they’d like to share?

Welcome Post

Hi,

Wanted to send a huge welcome to everyone. This blog will consist of anything and everything related to the paranormal and supernatural world. I hope to discuss vast topics during these post. Some going from what exactly how I define paranormal and supernatural to my own/or other reviews of books, movies, and television shows. There may even be some promoting of paranormal/supernatural items.

There will be weekly post to begin with and as time progressing I'll increase them. My plan is to make the weekly post in the middle of each week.

Have a great day.

Favorite Book Series

As an avid reader among paranormal romance, both traditional and self-published authors, I thought it would be fun for my first post to be enlightening into myself a bit. So today, I'm going to let you in on what paranormal romance series is my favorite.

The Dark Series, by Christine Feehan.

I find all of Christine Feehan's book amazing, but there was something about Dark Prince the first book in the Dark Series that called to the depths of my soul. I'm not sure if it had to do with a gorgeous man existing in a colorless life or the poor attractive woman who tracked down the vilest of humans with the use of a psychic connection. Either case, Christine Feehan won me over by the first chapter of the book and I've read each one of them since.

Incase, anyone has not read or not heard about the series I'm including the link to Christine Feehan's website.
