Inspirational Photo

Once again this week, I found myself looking for swords photos that inspired my brain to design one for this story idea I’m developing. This photos gave me a great idea. The dragon like design on the handle gave me a couple of ideas that sparked my mind. Never know when you may see my final conception from this photo on here.

I’d like to hear what this made you think of.

Did you know . . .

Did you know that the Minotaur lived at the center of the Labyrinth, an elaborate maze construction by Daedalus and his son Iscarus at the behest of King Minos of Crete. Did you know that Theseus killed the Minotaur.

Mythical Creature Movies

There are loads of movies that include mythical creatures. The Harry Potter Series has many, but the one that stands out to me the most is the giant from the fifth movie, Order of Phoenix. I also love the Percy Jackson Series when the Minotaur tosses the car. This weekend I watched the Clash of the Titians and found myself wishing I could reach through the TV to pet the solid black Pegasus.

This week, I’d love for you guys to share what Movie, or movies, that you enjoy with a Mythical Creature.

More Witchcraft Resource Intrigue

Today I’m going to share another tid-bit that I learned from Witchcraft Theory and Practice by Ly de Angles. I’m still in the introduction section, but there was a story in this section that caught my attention. It was about a woman who was transferring her life to following the occult practice. (Occult is not meant to be thought of as evil. It is a simple practice of witchcraft. My opinion. You may have your own.) In this story, the woman’s husband was having a hard time accepting the change his wife was making. It was causing arguments among them. She did not want to leave her husband, but was determined to not let him stop her from practicing her new belief of life. During a meeting with some of the women from her coven the issue came up for discussion. The women came to tell her that “Only through being who she professed to be could she find peace.” This statement is so true, no matter how you live your life. It does not only relate to the practice of the occult/witchcraft, but to every aspect we live.

We have to be who we are to find peace among our self. If we do not, then how can we live a life of any measurable peace.

My question to you, is: Do you have peace in your life? A certain way you live to maintain it?

Inspirational Photo

This week’s photo came about when I was doing some searching for unique sword photos. Swords have really been on my mind this past week. I’ve had this idea wiggling to life for months and each time my mind fits another piece together a clearer image forms. This photo filled in another missing link for me. Before long I will have a full blown story idea laid out in my mind.

Demon of the Week: Abigar

Abigar is a future telling demon who can give military advice.

Upon reading this I wondered if it was a wise demon who only aided his allies or if he gave foretelling skills to others as well. I think I would like to read more about a demon who can tell the future, but gives his wisdom to both his enemies as well as allies. Anyone else like to read a story based off a demon character with such talents?

Mythical Creature of the Week: Chinese Zodiac

I am not big on this mythical creature, so I’m going to give you a website I use once in a while to gain a better grasp of this aspect. I will let you read and find the information that interest you the most and hope you will share it with me this week.

Witchcraft Monday

Today I’m sharing a bit of the prologue of Witchcraft Theory and Practice by Ly de Angles.

In the prologue you are taken on a journey of a woman sitting in a dark room. During this journey, we are introduced to some of her tools of trade and her methods of greeting and/or combining with her Goddess. The entire prologue brings you to the brink of a story that leaves you longing for the same connection that this woman finds, but it is the ending of the prologue that catches my attention and I want to share with you today.

“The Way of the Goddess will continue, through to most her name is unknown. As long as even one remembers will the knowledge proceed and the Earth be sustained.

Though the foolish fear what they don’t understand, the magic goes on and the secret survives, for the priestess of the Moon is witch, and what she represents is at one with what’s living and all that she is will continue – for without her the Earth would weep and the nights would never understand and so would cease to be. She is the spiral of life – the oceans the rivers, the falling of the dew, the changing of the seasons. She is the corn at harvest and the birth of birds. She is the wind on the mountain and the spider’s web at dawn.

All things of beauty are the name that she summons, for she is the mirror of the Goddess that is life, and the mother of all living things. If she could not continue, or was the last of all, then all hope would cease to be.”

Did you know . . .

Did you know . . .
Some of the first accounts of werewolves came from Ancient Greek Literature. Ovid, in the Metamorphoses, told of the Arcadian King, Lycaeon,  who was visited by Zeus. This man decided to test Zeus by serving him human flesh in one of the many dishes he served in his honor. Not any old flesh, but his own son’s flesh. When Zeus discovered the deception, he turned him into a werewolf.

Mythical Creature of the week – Banshee

This week’s mythical creature is a noisy one. She has a high pitched, ear piecing shriek that is a bringer of death. Or so some believe. Most people believe a Banshee appears as a frenzy old woman.

Witchcraft Monday

Last week I gave you a snippet of my newest resource book that I’m reading. This week I’m going to give you another small taste of it. Last week’s and this week’s post is a start to a series of post. I’m reading this resource book for some research, but am finding the material wonderful and wanted to share some of my findings with you. So, each week, I’ve decided to post another small bit of what I read the previous week.

Hope you find it as interesting as I do.

“. . . and when you know the magic believes in you, how can you not?”

Demon of the week: Devil

Most people hear the word demon and their minds shift to the devil. They are related, in my opinion at least, as much as the majority of the world believes, but they do not consume the Demonic topic. So today, I’m going to give you a bit of information about the Devil and it relationship to the Tarot card.

The Devil is the fifteenth Major Arcanum card, usually depicting the image of a convention devil with horns and hooves. It was assigned Arcanum to the Hebrew letter Ayin by the Golden Dawn system. The French system gives it to the Samekh.  What interest me the most is that in the magical tide it is called the Lord of the Gates of Matter, Child of the Forces of Time.

All these facts came from the The New Encyclopedia of the Occult by John Michael Greer

Mythical Creature Ramble

There are lots of folklore and stories based around a mythical creature. Think about it hard enough you will see the logic behind them. Each have some kind of meaning, or can for each individual. What are some of the creatures that hold a specific meaning, or lesson, for you.

Mine is the Unicorn. It is peaceful as well as beautiful. There is something about seeing a photo or statue of one of these wonderful creatures. Soon as I do, my mind finds a state of calmness. A kind that gives me a blank slate. No rushing thoughts. No murmurs of the outside life. It renews me.

Let me know if you have a mythical creature that does this for you. Or something else that assist you in your life.

No Turning Back – Ly de Angeles

Today I wanted to share this saying from Rituals, Spellcasting & Sorcery Witchcraft Theory and Practice by Ly de Angeles

No Turning Back
Once you have chosen to take upon yourself the obligation of the practice of Witchcraft, then the effects or the immanence, of this way of life will be bestowed on you from aligned intelligence, and so will test that accompany any them.

Anyone who willingly opens themselves to powers beyond he veil of manifestation (as we understand it) opens themselves to the possibility of inner initiation. Witches know that they are witches, but initiation is what seals that knowledge through the power of ritual and the intent inherent within the process itself, to a deeper strata of recognition and response both within oneself and from the power to which we are oathed.

Once initiation has occurred, there is no turning back – you will quest all your life, it is not a thing to do thoughtlessly.
