Chapter 6
Electricity jumped back and forth, drawing a deep breath from Edward. There was only one thing that could caused such a reaction, but it wasn’t possible. Just wasn’t. It wasn’t heard of. Not below the Virginia Line. Nope. It was a northern and western Coven aspect. It was the one reason it had sucked that his new job had been in western part of North Carolina. It’s also why his dad gave him an hour-long lecture about him being an immature young man who was sowing his wild oats in the wrong part of the world. Dad had not gotten that there were no wild oats being sowed. His eldest son was simply moving on with his life after Alex decided it was time for him to move to the next phase of his life and that did not include a man. He was not going to disappoint his family by being his true self. Alex decided to prove his devotion to his family by going through the Choosing Ceremony. Edward had tried for half a year to let the deception pass him, but it never did. All that happened when he ran across Alex and his new wife was pure rage. That was why he’d found a new job and left the area he’d always lived in. His dad might not have been around to aid him growing up, but he always made sure his children and his wife had all they needed, even if he had very little time to do with them. Besides to knock my mom up.
Edward did not need to see the smile on the hunk’s face to know that he knew what was happening between them. Nope. He could feel his excitement and pleasure at the idea of having ran across him. There were also confusion, not so much because of him being paired with a man, but because he had not picked up on him being a . . . Crap.
“You are . . . How did I not . . .”
Man alive. Someone needed to slam a stake upside his head. He should have gone to the Coven to start with. If he’d not been trying to keep a low profile and away from the Coven as much as possible then things would have been different. He would have been introduced to every member. Would have known the man upon sight. One thing left for me to do.
He went to sidestep the man and make his escape, but fingers curled in his shirt, holding him in place. The SpellBinder in front of him was strong. Tall. Handsome. Clean cut blond hair. A slender jawline that had Edward wanting to place small kisses over them.
None of those thoughts mattered. He had to get away from the guy. Time to figure out his plan. What he would do next. There was no way he could . . .
“We have lots to discuss.” The hunk said as he took his arm and stirred him towards the doorway of the shelter that had been setup for the people of his apartment complex.
“We do not.” Edward tried to pull his arm free, but it did no good. The man had a major grip on his arm and was not going to release him. That sent shards of heat over his body, but also had his stomach churning.
“We do. Come on, let’s get out of here.”
“No.” Edward dug his heels into the cement floor. “Release me. Now.”
The hunk froze, but did not release him.
