Want to start off today’s post by saying thanks to my followers. The last month has been rough between illness and weather and I have not been able to post. Hope to start the year off on the right foot with getting back to blogging, editing and letting my creativity soar. What better way than some great flash fiction.

Was her . . . they were. She was having a stroke? On drugs. No. Laura had been with her for the last twelve hours. Never left her side. Not even to piss. Why was her eyes so round? Black. Shinning. Sparkling.

Had she . . . She had.

“Lord of what? A realm? What’s that?”

She waved a cross pattern as a . . . was that a . . . Wand? It was. A god to honest Harry Potter style wand.

“Take these intruders . . .”

“Intruders?” Where? There was no . . . Holy shit. Where had those people came from” Was that a dog? No way. Bigger than a Great Dane. What was that?

“. . . back to the Unseen Realm at once.”

Laura’s hand dropped to her side as a streak of white lighting zoomed towards the three short, stocky men and there . . . whatever it was.

Cora wasn’t believing it, but she saw it. The people vanished and Laura was jerking her arm as she sped walk towards her driveway.

“You have to go.”

“What just happened?”

“you have to go.” Laura snatched her purse and unsnapped the top, plucking her keys from it. “Get in.” The car beeped.

“No.” Cora jerked her arm free. “What just happened?”

“No time to explain.”

“Not leaving.” Cora crossed her arms and leaned against the warm, smooth car door.

“Don’t stub up. Listen it’s not safe. I promise I’ll explain later. When it is safe.”

“Safe?”

“yes. The next Fae that comes through the portal may be stronger than my witch ass.”

“Witch?”

“yes. Now leave.” A loud explosion and red flames zipped high into the air from behind Laura’s house. “Leave. Please.”

Cora wanted answers, but she knew if Laura promised to explain then she would. That alone motivated her to take the keys and climb into her Lexus.
