Chapter 30

“Daddy Simon?”

He hung the phone up and glanced over at me. “Son, I need you to stay very, very calm and remember I have duplicates of everything.” He shifted his gaze to Tommy. “Control his wolf.”

Bobby turned his hand over and wrapped his fingers through Tommy and soaked in the warmth that only his mate could provide. Cal road me hard, but soon as Stay’s presence smothered him, he settled.

“Cal, I’m right here and need you to remain here with me, no matter what.”

Bobby gave Tommy a small nod.

“Son, someone set your trailer on fire.”

What? He heard wrong. Right. “Huh?” No way. Why? “Shit. Dad’s stuff. My clothes. His pictures.” Cal roared and pushed through Stay’s safety net and was on the edge of coming forward when Tommy wrapped his arms around me.

“Bobby, Cal, I need you to calm down. Keep me safe. Me and Stay are scared for you.”

Stay’s fear laced through our link, causing Cal to search the area around them as Bobby took in every single person inside the restaurant. No one was paying them any attention. Everyone was focused on their food or the ones at their table. The waitress and waiters were fluttering from table to table. The hostess was taking people to the table. The managed was going from table to table, asking if everything was okay. They were perfectly safe inside. Trouble had not came at him directly.

“I won’t leave you, Tommy. Tell Stay his mate is going nowhere. He is safe. I’ve made sure.” Bobby tugged Tommy’s chair as close to him as he could get it. “Daddy Simon, dad’s stuff was in there.”

“I have duplicates of it all.”

Good. That was the most important thing. Clothes could be replaced. Other personal items could also. The trailer was rented. His head throbbed and he no longer had an appetite. He pushed his plate away and groaned. “I’m tired.”

“I think,” Alpha Kind said, “we are done here and that Bobby needs to go home and rest for the rest of the day. Let Tommy take care of you. Go shopping after you have rested.”

“Sounds like a good idea.” Tony smiled at Tommy. “Take the guards with you.”

“Guards?” Alpha Kind sat back and crossed his arms. “Explain.”

Bobby groaned and banged his head against the table. What a way to make a new impression on a new alpha. The guy was going to think him unable to protect his new mate. Just what he needed. Before he could respond, Daddy Simon spoke up. Just another reason for Alpha Kind to think him incompetent.

“A few months back, Bobby and another wolf, who had been friends for some time, were setup to be caught with the same man. The men served their punishment and it was over. Bobby thought their friendship had survived, but the other one took it more serious than that and started causing trouble for Bobby and Tommy. According to the original punishment the other wolf was to go jail, but he escape.”

“I have had my best men looking for him.” Tony piped up, adding to Bobby’s embarrassment. It should be him out there tracking James down and bringing him in. Not any one else. “We have located him.” They have? When? Why had they not told him? “We should be able to find out what happened tonight.”

“Then why do they still have the guards with them at all times and traveling with you two?”

“Located is different than catching him. Until I have him in my hands, I want them guarded and protected. So guards and no bikes until then, Alpha Kind.” Tony’s commanding tone held as much sternness as any Alpha could pull off. Bobby was unsure how Alpha Kind would take to it. He knew that most Packs in Tony Stake’s areas caved to his wishes, but he was unsure how Alpha Kind’s worked

“Fine. I want daily reports from your people, Mr. Stakes.’

“Not a problem.” Tony picked at his fingernails and gave a noncommittal shrug.

And just like that, Bobby found himself and Tommy in a new pack . . . Wait, Mixed Breeds are Groups. Aren’t they? Think they are. Whatever. New something. And Daddy Simon was happy about losing his seat of power and was going to be at Tony Stake’s side, who is his mate’s uncle and the mob boss of several areas. So much to take in. Bobby’s hand flew over his stomach. He stood and excused himself.
