Chapter 12

“Give us a moment.” Javis pointed down the hallway, knowing Mateo would not be able to hear his and Alexander’s vampiric level conversation from the other end.

Alexander watched Mateo as he made his way down the hall. “He’s a hell of a guy. Where did you - -”

“Enapay is my Heart Owner.”

“- - find him? What the . . .” Alexander whipped his head towards him with eyes as wide as Javis had ever saw before. “You are kidding me, right?”

Javis wished he was. The man who openly despised him and his the tasked that had been set to him years ago was the one that owned the second half of his heart. How was he supposed to handle that?

“You have to be mistaken. What made you think this?”

“Your own words. ‘cock thickened so fast and hard I all but doubled over’.”

“There is more to it than that?” Alexander side-eyed the door. “When have you been inside? I’ve been on the other side of the window the whole time.”

“Reaction came from this side of the door.”

“You smell him as well?”

“Boy do I? Taking all I can do to stand here and talk to you when I want to rush into that room and throw him up against the wall and drive my cock into him.”

Understatement. Oh, He wanted to do that to his Heart Owner, but more than that he longed to bite deep into the hallow of his neck, leaving behind a mark that only he could leave on him.

“We have to get you away from here.” Alexander grabbed his arm and began dragging him away from the interrogation rooms.

“Hey! What is going on?” Mateo shouted as he rushed up the hallway.

“He can’t do this right now. Come with us.” Alexander kept forcing him away from his Heart Owner.

His mind screamed to shove Alexander out of his way and run back to the room and throw open the door, shouting that he belonged to him, yet his mind knew that would be the death of him. A vampire could survive a death of a Heart Owner, hard as it was and in a half-life state, but to have met your Heart Owner and never complete the bond with him or her is like . . . pure death. Life becomes one of a recluse who waste away and succumbs to the darkness of life. Javis could avoid that as long as he did not come face-to-face with Enapay Chavos. And he had to avoid that until he had a way to convince him that Vampires weren’t monsters and that the two of them could have a solid, happy life as one. Or until he was able to release him.

“We have to figure out what you are going to do before you enter that room.” Alexander sighed. “Your entire worlds depends on it.”

Boy did he, but Javis wasn’t. sure how anyone could convince a true believer to shift their way of thinking. Enapay had done made two big, national. broadcasted speeches about his feelings, changing them would show a man who did a three-sixty out of the blue. It would defame him as a decent human being. Wasn’t something Javis wished on him. He did not want his Heart Owner to come out of the situation looking like a horrible, twisted man. Or for people to think he was paid off. Or that Javis and his people paid people off.

“We can’t make him look bad.”

“We will work this out. First we have to figure out how to get you two to talk without being in the same room.” Alexander opened the door at the other end of the hallway.

“What is going on?” Mateo shut the door as he walked in. “Thought we wanted to get him here.”
