People have a misconception of Merfolks. Most believe them to be harmless,
but in the older sense of the word they are referred to as monstrous.

I have to agree with this since they are known for forming storms with
singing and seducing hapless sailors in order to drown them. Not sure how anyone could see such a creature
as being harmless.
