Mythical Creature Tuesday

Today I’m going to give you some info on one of my favorite types of mythical creatures. The Griffin.

The Griffin has a body, tail, and back legs of a lion. His head and wings are the shape of eagle, sometimes an eagle’s talons is it’s front feet. Since the lion was traditionally considered the king of beast and the eagle the king of birds, the Griffin was thought to be an especially powerful creature. They were also known for guarding treasures. In Greek and Roman text the Griffin were associated with gold.
