Who did this guy thing he was? Gundi? It was comical. He was outmatched in all ways. Cal outweighed him by at least sixty pounds. Stood taller than him by a good six inches. And man appeared to never had stepped a foot in the gym. Cal was sure his wolf form was even worse.
Cal matched Harry’s step as the man circled him. No need for Cal to watch the man’s footing for a sign of attack. It was written all over his face. The man was waiting for him to make the first move. Something Cal had no problem obliging him in.
The second trip around they made Cal dropped his shoulder and ran straight at the boney, raggedy man. One hit was all it took. A thud filled the night air as Harry’s back slammed into the ground. A harsh grunt flowed from him as the man’s eyes fell shut. He remained motionless with narrowed lips, pulled together eyebrows and a bright red face. Anger 101 at it’s best.
“Roll onto your stomach and put your hands behind your back.” Cal motioned to Gray, who tossed him a pair of cuffs made of silver. “Once you are secure, Travis and Sal will take and deliver justice to you.”
Justice came at the top of the mountain behind us. Steep climb, which meant it would have been better to send Raymond, an expert climber and hiker, but he was to kind hearted for what had to be done. Flame, my youngest brother well . . . that said it all right there. The baby of the family was still too young to get his hands bloody. He might be the second-best hiker we had in the family, but . . . babies were babies. Mom would . . . she’d kick ass for her eldest son thinking such, but . . . Alphas were made to protect. Cal just did his job. Mom or brother’s wishes be damned.
“What’s the rest of us going to do?” Gray said as Travis yanked Harry, who was snarling faintly, to his feet.
“Other than return to my house . . .”
Cal wasn’t sure about his brothers. The job was done. Or their part in it was. He had the hardest part left to do. Secure his Heart’s Desire. Ensure he knew what it meant to belong to him. Ensure he wanted to belong to him. Show him what life with him could be like. Other words . . . make him fall madly in love with him.
“He doesn’t care as long as we get out of his hair.” Raymond said and shifted back to his wolf form.
“I’m going to go home and go to bed.” Flame followed Raymond and shifted.
“Sounds like a plan.” Sal said as he shoved Harry towards the bottom of the mountain. “Get a move on.”
Without another word spoke, Gray and him shifted and he led the rest of them to his house. They left and he made his way inside, making one check on his Heart’s Desire, who was still tucked safely in bed.
