Chapter 9
Rex tugged on the gray sweats Larry had brought along with him. Wasn’t what he wanted to do, but it was what him and his wolf decided was best to do. For the mean time. To honor his mom. To aid the people that he should have been leading. Rex’s human side still wasn’t quite sure what was going on, but he was sure that a wolf lived inside him. One his mom had known that did so. One that apparently, had killed his dad. Nope. She never would have done so. Not his mom. She loved his dad. There had to be more to the story. And he’d discover it as soon as he could. First, he needed to read those books his Mr. Chamberland said Larry would bring him. Figure out what was going on inside him. What these rules and laws were that Mr. Chamberland insisted bond him to live under his thumb until he turned twenty-one. So not happening.
“Here we are.” Larry waved at a door that lead to a room.
Rex came up to the doorway, frowning. The room barely held the ran down, brown dresser and bed that sat inside. There was no closest or bathroom attached.
“The bathroom is at the end of the hall.” Larry sighed. “I’m sorry. I know it’s not much, but it’s what he’s assigned you to. I would have . . . if it was up to me . . .  “ Larry shook his head, lowering his eyes. “Not an option. Sorry.” Larry wiped his eyes before he locked eyes with him. “I placed all the books that our wolf pups are required to read as they grow up. I laid the one I suggest you read first on top. It will explain a lot. Especially, pages 102-120.”
Would it tell Rex how his life got turned upside down? Would it tell him why his mom lied to him? Would it tell him why Larry acted like he was attracted to him one minutes then became bruitsh the next? Would it explain why Mr. Chamberland was an ass?
Rex doubted all those answers would be given. What he expected was to figure out what he should have learned years ago. That would help him. He hoped.
