Chapter 36

Bobby’s entire body tensed when they pulled up outside Tommy’s house. Three limo’s sat. The extra one made no sense. It was late for visitors. He took hold of Tommy’s hand soon as they got off the bike and he all but forced him to walk behind him. His stomach plummeted when they entered and found Daddy Simon and Tony entertaining the the Master of Wolves. Both of them dropped to their knees and offered their necks.

“Get up, there is no need for such.” Master of Wolves voice held sternness that always put shivers across everyone’s back, or so others wolves had told Bobby. He’d never felt such from him. He’d always tossed it up to being Mixed. “I came down to calm Alpha Tate and Mr. Stake, only to discover that Alpha Tate is stepping down.” The scowl on the Master’s face unnerved Bobby, which is why he placed his hand on his hip and gave it a slight push when they got to the sofa across from the Master of Wolves. He did not want his mate sitting across from someone on the edge of control. “Fill me in.”

The dead on stare and command might have stirred me into action any other time, but the Master of Wolves no longer held control over him and Tommy. They were in a Mixed Breed Group. They answered to their Group Leader and whoever lead over them. He had to ask Alpha Kind how to address such and who that was.

“Excuse me, Master, but we must let our Group Leader know you are here.”

“Your what, Mr. Timbers?” He glanced at Simon and Tony who both nodded. His frown grew as he sighed. “Do it quickly and tell him to listen by speaker phone.”

“Yes, Master.” Bobby quickly dialed Alpha Kind’s number and explained what they had walked into. Once he had permission he placed the call onto speaker. “Master, he is on speaker.”

“Who am I speaking with?”

“Master, this is Alpha Kind, of Wolf/Vamp  Group.”

“Something else to be explained.” Master muttered. “Let’s start with Alpha Tate. Why are you stepping down.”

Daddy Simon sat up taller and squared his shoulders, but for the first time in his life, Bobby saw something he’d never seen. Regret.

“Once you require Mixed Breed to register I will lose my position because me and my first mate adopted our son Bobby is a Wolf/Vamp mix.”

Daddy Simon never showed any sign, even if it had flirted across his eyes and then vanished, of regret when talking about his state of being mixed. Why now? Because it was taking his position away from him? Daddy Simon told him earlier it did not bother him. He was going to go to the man he’d wanted to be with since Dad died. He had been an Alpha when him and dad adopted him. If it bothered him in the least bit then why had he given for such an adoption. Why was such a fleeting moment bothering me?

“Okay. See where Alpha Kind comes into play. I can tell that Bobby Timbers and Tommy Stake are mates.” Master of Wolves tapped the side of his legs a moment or two then gave a curt nod as if he answered a question. “Why would you step down before you had to?”

Daddy Simon glanced at Tony and gave one of his famous smiles. “I want to live with the one I chose after my mate was killed.”

“Is that why Tony Stake is here?”

“Yes, Master. Partly.” Tony crossed his leg over his knee.

“Now, there’s some kind of threat against one of you still.”

“Yes.” Tony lifted Daddy Simon’s hand and gave it a small kiss. “We have yet to figure out who or why.”

“What can I do to assist?”

“We feel it is coming from Bobby’s biological parents and have no legal way to get that information.”

Bobby sat forward so fast he all but fell ontop of the coffee table. He might have if Tommy hadn’t threw his arm across his chest. As it was, he broke protocol and spoke, more like shouted, over all the high ranking people gathered.

“What!”

“Mr. Timbers.” Alpha Kind’s scold came across loud and clear and had him bowing his head.

“Sorry, Sirs.” His apology went unnoticed.

“You are asking me to open his file.”

“Yes, Master of Wolves.” Tony replied, stealing what little breath was left in Bobby’s chest.

“You know, Tony Stake, this is a first for you.” Master of Wolves comment only earned him a short lived shrug. “It is that reason alone I wish I could do as you wish, but unless they say I can I have no way to do so.” He held his hand up before Tony could respond. “I will get in touch with them and let you know what they say by tomorrow.”

The Master of Wolves dismissed Alpha Kind and then said his goodbyes to us as he left to tend to a shit load of business, as he said. Bobby wasn’t sure if he cared if he did or not. He cared less if his biological information was discovered or not. He’d had years to open those records and never had an inkling to do so. He knew who his parents were and wanted nothing to do with those who threw him away.
