Chapter 40

Bobby watched as Tommy sat the last china plate on the table. The house smelled of fresh pot roast and roasted potatoes with stewed veggies. He could not have fixed anything more soothing for what Bobby was sure was going to be a tense meal. The doorbell chimed through the entire house causing him to stiffen on the barstool he sat on. He watched as Tommy made his way over to him, but his full attention was locked onto the door that led to the hallway. Just outside the main door stood his birth parents. The people who gave him away. He would have to meet them. It had not been his choice. Sort of hadn’t been. Still, him and his wolf weren’t sure if they wanted to hear their excuse for giving him up. Not that he minded them doing so. He loved his dad and Daddy Simon.

“Honey, it’s going to be okay.” Tommy rubbed his back and gave him a kiss on the forehead. “Go wait for us in the living room.”

That sounded great. Bobby walked into the hallway with Tommy then parted way as he continued onto the main door. He went in and took a seat on the sofa that faced the living room door. Seconds later Alpha Kind and a tall, long blond haired man with a long black haired lady on his arm walked in. The man smelled of Wolf, where as the lady held a Vampire scent.

His insides crawled and swirled the longer the silence stretched out. Bobby was unsure what to say, but he knew someone had to break it. It was his house after all, so he stood and walked around the sofa. He held his hand out and said, “Baby, come here.” He wrapped his arm around Tommy and hoped he gave a friendly smile to the strangers.

“Alpha Kind, it is a pleasure to have you in our house today.”

“Great to see you both again.” He tilted his head at Tommy. “The house once again smell amazing, but I think it is time I make the introductions to Bobby, what do you think Tommy?”

“Alpha, I think that would be best.”

“Bobby, I’d like you to meet your biological father Thomas Bobby Timber and his wife Lucy Lynn Timber.”

What was he to say? Nice to finally meet you? Bluntly ask them why they dumped me at birth? His mouth felt like a cotton field had risen inside it. Still he managed to make a response. None of the blunt ones that came to mind. Guess that was a good thing.

“Nice to meet you. If you would like to eat while it’s hot, Tommy just took it out of the oven.”

“That sounds great, Bobby.” Thomas smiled at him. “It is alright if I call you that, isn’t it?”

“It is.” It was his name. No reason he could not address him by it. Everyone else did. He was just another shifter.

“Your Alpha said your mate is an excellent cook.”

“Have to say my nephew is.” Tony came walking up behind them, creating more ease through Bobby.

He wasn’t sure why, but for some reason Tony seemed to give him strength like no one else had. He’d not taken note of when it began, but the last couple times there’d been issues arise he’d felt his Vampire side rise in him. Beg for release. Beg to take control. Beg for dominance. Odd for that side of him to be prominent. Maybe it was the fact that Tony was a Vampire and being around him called to his Vampire side. Whatever the reason, Bobby wasn’t objecting to it. He’d always longed to have more interaction with his Vampire side. Who knew, it might have been the fact that he was now involved in a Mixed Group instead of a full out Wolf Pack.

“The dining room is this way,” Tommy waved his hand down the hallway and then began moving them towards it. The rest fell in step behind us, with Tony taking up the end of the line with Alpha Kind.
