Chapter 14

“Where did this come from, Larry?”

Go to him. He’s in pain. Take it away. Give him an idea of how to make it better.

Oh crap a duck. Had that thought came from him? Really? Where was the drive forward and kick ass and take names afterwards attitude that he lived with all his life? Why was his mind being so . . .  Careful wasn’t the word. Submissive wasn’t either. Tenative . . . Maybe. James had been kind as hell about all that had gone down so far and been great about him and Tommy. Bobby wanted to make sure he felt secure in every other way. Right? That’s all it was. Right? Yep. All it was. Nothing else. Couldn’t be.

“It was delivered to my gate two hours ago. We didn’t know where you took him. You didn’t answer your phone.”

Larry held no alpha condesending tone. Nope. It was all family and worry that came across in each of the words he spoke. The man had been throughoughly freaked by whatever that letter had said.

“Sorry, bro. I have no signal at the club.”

“James,” Bobby carefully nudged James’ arm. “What is going on?”

“Sorry, my love. They sent someone after my parents. I knew the Master would do something to locate me, but that’s my mom and dad. He will pay for that.”

Damn. How many more people were going to get dragged into whatever the hell this freaking Master’s twisted game was? “Are they alright, James?”

“Yes. I had guards on them.” His smile was so huge that Bobby could not help but return it. “I”m gong to bring them here and let them stay in Larry’s area.” He faced Larry. “Will that be fine with you?”

“Man, you know our parents are always welcomed here and will be kept safe. Done sent people to gather and bring them and Carl and Lisa here.”

“Thanks.”

“No problem. You two freaked me out when I could not reach you, James.” Larry tugged James into a tight hug then reached for him, pausing before he pulled him in. “I’m . . . I’ll just be going and let you guys rest. Have a good night.”

Bobby took a seat on the small benchette that sat in the hallway as James locked the deadbolt and the doorknob. His head throbbed as the thougths of how many people’s lives had been effected simply because he’d been born. More than just his birth, but his eldest brother. The entire world had shifted upon his conception. Was it right for his biological parents to weild such power? Would the world have been better off if someone else had done so?

“My love,” warm fingers slipped under his chin, tiliting his head up. “What is wrong?”

“Thinking that hard am I?”

“Can see your deep thoughts flying across those sexy eyes of yours, just aren’t trying to read them. Want to share them?”

“Too tired to think about it too much more tonight.” He pushed to his feet, all but pressing himself into James’ chest. “Let’s just get some sleep.”

James took hold of his hand and gave it a small tug before he began walking down the hallway. A small dinging sound had him stopping and looking into the living room. Sure enough his computer sat on the coffee table with the lid up. He’d remembered using it before he left to send some emails and setting it up to alert him if any came in, but . . .

“Damn. I forgot to cut the email notification alarm off.”

“Honey,” Tommy sat up from the couch, smiling at him. “That’s been going off for over twenty minutes.”

“Sorry, baby. Did it keep you awake?”

“Nope. Did tempt me to shut the lid, but I knew better than to touch one of those black wolf headed logo laptops.”

Bet he did. Tony had given him that computer and it was secure as hell. Even if Tommy had tried to get into the email he’d be unsuccessful. Triple protection secured the entire computer, even though everyone could hear the notification of his arriving emails. And not simple passwords either. There were eye scans, fingerprints, and breath analysis. Major high tech. Tony knew his shit. Guess that’s why he was the biggest Don in the US.

“James, I need to check this before I go to bed?” Most might have taken what he said as a comment or a piece of information of why he would be delayed in joining him, but nope it was a question. One that flew smoothly from Bobby. Another one of those things that at any other time he would have stumbled his way through asking or refused to do so. Yet, there again, he found himself easily doing so. And once again, James provided him with an answer and a friendly suggested order, instead of a command.

“That’s fine. Do what you need then join me in our room.” James gave a nod to Tommy and told him goodnight just as Daniel lifted Tommy’s feet and sat down under them.

Bobby watched as Tommy winced at the interaction, but he kept his comment for Daniel to keep his hands to himself to himself as he read the email from Tyle Stone.

Dman it. He had to find out if Bill was involved in the shirt storm. How? What was there that would show . . . He snapped his fingers and snatched his phone from his back pocket. He dialed the phone and explained my idea to Tony. He agreed it was the best approached and said he’d make the arrangement with Larry, for me to contact Tyler Stone and get things rolling on that end.

With a few strikes of keys and a click of send, he had made a major step in unearthing part of the secret in his life. Soon he’d either have his twin at his side or never see him again. Dooming thought, but one he would not take to bed with him. Nope. Not on his first night with . . .

James. His Fated Mate awaited him. They’d had a great night at the bar. Held hands. Danced closed together. Groped each other. In small manners. What did all that mean for their night? Anything? Nothing? All up to him? What did Bobby want it to mean? Good fucking question.
