Chapter 2

“Miss . . . I know, but . . . We wanted to . . . Yes, Miss, but Javis wished me to reach out to . . .”

Typical Mother to cut Elijah off at every corner of his explanation. She despised him. Never understood his friendship with him. Most Vampires didn’t. Not that he interacted with many Vampires on a day-to-day basis. Most of his exchanges came about with the humans. All his home staff was human. All his political staff was as well. Only Vampires that he had relations with where the Sector Vampire Governors he appointed. They met about six times a year to give reports on each sector and update him on how many humans among thier Sector refused to choose a Vampire or sign an agreement with the Vampire Governor or Commander of Chief.

“. . . Yes, Miss, but the speech was broadcast across the entire United States. Our people tried to cut it off. The gentleman somehow blocked us.”

Said something about the darling young man’s ablities. Or whoever helped him. Either way . . . The guy managed to get his message out there. Correct one too. He’s stated nothing but pure truth.

Javis had begun deceiving the human race some fifteen years ago at the command of Dracula. He’d infiltrated their world by entering college and gaining his Bachachols Desgree in Political Sience. From there, he got himself a following and work his way up the ranks, staring as a Mayor of some small town in South Dakota right next to the Black Hill Mountain, taking it from a small nothing of a community to a major tourist town. From there he’d gotten the Senate seat and began setting into motion laws that would help change the world into a more Vampire friendly world. His biggest shift while in the Senate had been when he got rid of the two-term president term. Lots of humans thought he would never succeed, but he got way more votes than he needed and all without using any Vampire skills. In fact, he never once had to use his mesmerizing skills to earn a change among the world.

“Yes, Miss. I understand, Miss.”

Elijah would be stuck telling his Mother a thousand times that he understood whatever she said. He should be ashamed for having Elijah reach out to his Mother, but he was going to have to deal with Mateo as soon as he arrived. They had to stop this guy’s plot of destruction. Whatever it was. Was it one? Could it be one, if he was not lying? And he wasn’t.

Dracula’s plan would bring upon the extension of the human race, at some point in the far future. Javis had tried to explain this to his Mother and one other Royal Blood Society member, but they both told him it did not concern them. They were humans and none concern of theirs, and they did as Dracula said. The vote had been taken and Dracula’s plan had been approved and he agreed to it. He had. Why though? He knew even then that it was a heartless act. Dracula failed, or did not care, to take into account that the Vampires could live beside the humans in cohesion. Javis had brought up a plan for such but Dracula laughed at it and tore up the entire pitch he’d written up. Was an amazing pitch. In it, he’d had it so the Vampires could one by one announce themselves to the public, showing how they’d lived beside humans all these years in peace. The biggest part of his peaceful reveal was that him and several other Vampires gain positions among the government structure and then announce their true side as the others showed the humans how they’d lived beside them while others had held government positions and helped make laws and enforced them.

History had proven we could live among them without changing the entire structure of the United States and taking over the entire World. Dracula and his power crazy mind was all that had came into play, but he still remained in the background. Why did he do that? Made no sense for him to do so. Just like it made no sense for each of the Royal Blood Society members to jsut cave into whatever he said. We each had a voice and a vote. All we had to do was say what we truly desired. Why had he not done so? Why had he not refused to be the one to become the Commander and Chief and turn the entire United States on its head? Why had he just done like he always done, given Dracla what he wished? Yes, he could see how some things required changing for them to live among the humans and feed from them, or those who wished to feed from humans.

“Yes, Miss, I’ll make sure he knows to wait for Dracula to contact him before he makes a single move. Yes, Miss, he knows to follow all the Society’s rules. Yes, Miss, he knows what is at stake.”

Mother and her reminders. Grated his nerves, but he was sure she saw how some of Dracula’s wild hair ideas have gotten on his nerves the last few years. Guess she feared he would stray and the results that would create.

What would happen if he chose to go his own way? Would Dracula take it out on his Mother as well as him? Just him? Entire Royal Blood Society? How would he punish them? He had locked some Vampires in casket wrapped in silver chains for centuries for disobeties. That might be why no one ever went against him.

“Javis,” Elijah’s soft touch on the arm, drew away from his trainwreck of thoughts. “Your Mother says that supper needs to wait until her Father can join and give his thoughts on the situation you two where going to discuss. I’m unsure if Julian will agree with her approach.”

He knew his Head of Social Presence would throw a fit until he lived up to his inital response of ‘set up the press conference’. He had known what needed to be done and started the process that would keep Dracula’s plan alive. He never expected his Mother to stall him. Knew it would take time for them to reach out to him, whihc would leave him the right to take control. His Mother giving him such directions meant he had to do as she said, but if he did . . .

“You know what that will do, don’t you?”

Elijah might just be his Personal Assistant, but he had his Bachalor’s in Poclitcal Science as well. He’d been instrumental in getting him into the spot he was in.

“Are you going to going against her order?”

Would doing so be disobeying Dracula? No. He had not given him an order. There had been no Royal Blood Society vote. Just his Mother giving him an order. He had gone against her several times throughout his life. She never got upset with him for doing so.

“Press Conference is a go.”

“Why would it not be?”

“Mateo,” Javis spun towards the door, wondering why he had not heard it open or him walk into the room. “How long have you been standing there?”

“Just got here. You two were in a deep converstaion. Thought it best if I made my presense known.”

“You were right.” Elijah walked over to the round table sitting off to the side of the living room, opening the computer and entering the password. “Computer is up and secure, Sir.”

“Thanks, Elijah.”

“I’ll leave you two to it.”

  1. Just for a side note on here, I think I totally forgot to do any kind of typing editing as well. Sorry for that. I was in a real hurry when I wrote this the other day. Sorry for the goof. Will do better next week.
