Chapter 26

Javis decided that the small eat-in dining area of the kitchen would be best for his and Enapay’s small intimate dinner. He had his chef cook up some grilled honey glazed salmon and aspargas with a nice crisp, fresh garden salad and some homemade yeast rolls. He hoped Enapay loved it. The house smelled amazing to him, even though food no longer appealed to him. Felt more like a mudane task. One that took away time he needed devoted to more important task.

“Sir,” Cheft sat down a second set of plates and silverware, “if I may interject, Sir Alexander said to remind you that this time, eating is the important task.”

Huh? What did he mean by that?

“You look confuse, Sir?’

“Am a bit.”

“This is supposed to be a date, right?”

“Yes.”

“Then a date with a meal, means eating. That would be the task, Sir Alexander refers to.”

Right. Had to eat to be mingling with his Heart Owner. Leave it to Alexander to know he’d need reminding of his task. “Thanks, Chef. I assume Sir Alexander told you to make enough food for two.”

“Course he did, Sir.”

“Thanks again, Chef.”

“No problem, Sir. We are here to make your life easier.”

Most of the time they did that. Most of them. Some of them drove him up the wall, like Julian had earlier. On his drive back from the interview all Julian had done was drone on and on about how his interview had left so many holes for other press members to tear him down. Create more fires for him to put out. Javis hadn’t really cared how much harder it made his life, and he ended up telling him that, which made the man turn to face the window with crossed arms as he stuck his lower lip out at the cars that passed them by. Childish. How had he never seen how much like a young adult Julian acted? Soon as they arrived home, he ordered Julian to leave and not return until tomorrow. That hadn’t gone over well either. Took Javis calling in Mateo to get him to leave. He’d probably hear all about how foolish he’d been when Julian returned, but. tonight was too damn important for him to fool with that man.

“Speaking of making my life easier,” Javis patted Chef on his shoulder, grinning when the man winked at him. “Were we able to get the caramel corn that I discovered Enapay loved?”

“We were, Sir. It’s being fixed as we speak and will be put in the media room while you two eat supper. Will make a nice surprise for him, Sir.”

“I hope so. Thought it would be much better than chocolate.”

The chef tilted his head and tapped his chin.

“You don’t think so.”

“Not sure if anything is better than that wondrous, glorious creamy, milky, smoothy goodness. Especially, if it’s licked off my Johnathan’s. chest.”

“Ooo, no. Not a picture I want to see, but I can see why such a task might be appealing between to Heart Owners.” And he could. Javis would give anything to feel Enapay’s tongue teasing the skin over his chest and his teeth scraping his nipples. “Shit. Did you have to put such a picture in my mind?”

“Do I need to send the runner out to buy some chocolate?”

“No. I actually decided to buy him some as well.”

“Smart, Sir. Smart indeed. Covering all bases. He will have a magical night for sure.”

“Commander and Chief,” Mateo’s voice flowed from the other side of the kitchen. “Your guest is awaiting you in the living room.”

“Time to find out how much he loves the night I have planned.”

He gave the chef one last nod of approval and then made his way toward the small box of chocolate caramels he’d picked up on the way home.
