Chapter 38

Senile. Out of his mind. Clueless as to how to take what could be a perfect manner of life among the humans. There would always be Vampires who wished to never mingle among humans and vise verse, but no one could please every single person among the world. Either race. Best any leader could do waw what was best for the whole. And answering to a Vampire that was older than the human race . . . wasn’t the answer. He needed to step aside from the Royal Blood Society. Better yet, the Royal Blood Society needed to retire themselves as a group to lead the Vampires if Vampires were going to live among humans. That’s was the whole point of his new plan. Vampire and Human leaders of each sector. One kind of enforcer for each race. Therefore each had their own kind to answer to for their crimes.

“Sire, - -”

“Oh cut that Sire shit out.” Elizebta made her way over to my private stash of human blood and ripped the top of a bag of blood off, sucking it down in a minute, sighing after the last drop had disappeared. “Better. I can not even say it. I am so late arriving because the other Royal Blood Society members met and . . .” She held her hand up to stave out his interruption about being excluded. “We weren’t excluding you. We were debating on your actions. Rather they were warranted or a act of disloyalty.”

Right. He would have wondered the same if one of them had done the same. Wasn’t sure how he would have viewed it if he’d been in their spot. Least they gave him the consideration to send his Sire to tell him the verdict.

“We agree with your actions. We see where you was coming from. I can also see, and so can the others, that Dracula . . . As much as I love the Vampire . . . He is no longer able to . . .” She flopped onto the leather sofa that sat off to the left of my desk. “We each went and visited him and got him to agree to our recommendation that he remain in seclusion. One of us will bring him his blood and anything else he wishes.”

Javis wasn’t sure what or how he ended up on the floor in front of his desk, but he did. Elizebta leapt to her feet and kneeled in front of him before he could take a second forced breath.

“Son, what is . . . Do I need to get . . .”

“No.” Javis laid a hand on his Sire’s face, taking in the bright red eyes. “You’ve been crying, mother.”

“It is not easy to face the fact that at some point and time I might end up like him.” She sat down in front of him. “He made me to end two hundred years of seclusion. Facing his own state of mind has forced me to see what my future . . .”

“Might be, mother.” He ran his hand down her cheek. “Might be. I will not let you follow down the track he went. Never, mother. You have so much to live for. So much to look forward to. I have found my Heart Owner, which means there might be one hidden among the humans out there for you.”

“I am too old to wish for such.” She unfolded her legs like she always found herself sitting crossed legged and resumed her seat on the sofa. “So . . . how did you convince him to allow him to turn you when he was so hell bent on you stealing people’s choices and how in the hell did he get you to take a stance. Am I to assume you have felt this for some time.”
